Chapter 5 - Beast

Chapter 5 - Beast

Just by hearing the growl, Ivar and Sylvia trembled slightly. Sarah on the other hand reacted and drew her large axe in front of her body.

Silver swiftly turned towards where he heard the growl and narrowed his eyes.

“Stay calm.”

He said softly and moved his right hand towards his runeglaive.

“Ivar, you’ll be our vanguard.”

“Sylvia, you stay on the sides, do help where you see fit with the knowledge you obtained earlier.”

“Sarah, you and I will be taking the opportunity and harm the monster when there are openings.”

After he finished speaking, he moved sideways.

Sarah quickly followed him, and she gripped her axe harder.

Sylvia didn’t move that far away from Ivar, but she closed her eyes, her mouth opened and chanted slowly in a voice no one could hear.

“By the hand of the Gods, turn merciless and slay our enemies in front us; Aura of the Merciless!”

“Stand tall and do not fall, strong like a God and stay firm like a mountain; Aura of the Tenacious!”

A great light erupted from Sylvia as she held her sceptre to the surrounding fifty meters engulfing Ivar, Sarah and Silver.

Silver clearly felt his body reacting to the light which erupted from Sylvia, and he could sense that it benefited him greatly.

“It seems like our limit is a radius of 50 meters, don’t leave the space!”

Silver hollered and glanced towards where he thought the beast would appear from.

“Uwaah!”

Ivar roared and lifted his shield in front of himself and the lance by his side. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the beast coming out from the horizon.

The beast was walking on four, its height seemed to be the same as normal human, it had dark fur which seemed to be harder than metal and fangs piercing out of his mouth.

“Growl!”

A nasty growl escaped the beast’s mouth as it glared at the four humans.

“It seems to be similar to wolfs and dogs, be wary of the speed, bites and claws!”

Silver spoke hurriedly and stopped walking, he was around 17 meters away from Ivar, Sarah was standing to his left.

Ivar nodded and stepped forward heavily and stood in front of the Sylvia.

The beast hastened its speed and rushed towards Ivar.

Ivar seeing that the beast targeting himself, let out a smile and didn’t move.

As the beast saw the human not doing anything special, it lifted a paw smacked it towards Ivar when it got close.

Ivar’s smile turned into a grin and lifted his shield towards the paw.

“Boom!”

After a loud sound, all that could be seen was the paw standing still on the shield and Ivar standing still.

“Heh, I’m a lancer, you bastard!”

He yelled and stabbed his lance towards the stomach of the beast.

“Roarrrr!”

The beast roared and sent another paw towards Ivar, but this time from another direction.

Ivar hastily moved his shield towards the paw to intercept it. As he was blocking the paws, sweat could be seen on his face.

As the beast fought with Ivar, it quickly noticed that it couldn’t break the shield. It sniffed and glared at Sylvia behind Ivar before wanting to pounce towards her.

“Like hell I would let you!”

Ivar screamed and quickly stood in front of the beast once more with his shield blocking the beast. Ivar’s eyes were bloodshot, but he stood firmly on his feet.

The beast once more growled loudly before wanting to pounce towards Ivar.

Before that could happen, a large axe descended from above and cut the rear of the beast.

Not a moment later, a runeglaive followed and heavily slashed towards the beast.

“ROAR!”

The beast roared, wanting to turn around.

But, once again, Ivar stopped it. He slammed his shield towards the beast’s face and made it angry.

“Don’t you dare turning around!”

“Good, keep it up!”

Silver hollered before lifting his runeglaive once more and slashed with a fluid movement.

The strange thing was whenever Silver slashed a runemark on his glaive would lighten up.

Sarah wasn’t standing still either, she stepped backward and held her axe below her body for a few seconds before unleashing an unbelievable mighty attack towards the beast.

“For Thy who is our enemy, receive the curse of illness; Contagion!”

Sylvia chanted once more before lifting her sceptre towards the sky. A pink light shined from it and entered the beast.

“Roar!”

The beast roared non-stop in bellow.

“Runeburst!”

Silver’s voice sounded out while he took a stance with his runeglaive.

The next moment, the seven runemarks on his runeglaive vanished as seven explosions attacks the beast’s back.

“Bang!”

“UWAA!”

The beast howled in agony, it was not able to escape because of the large shield, and it was getting injured rapidly by those humans behind him.

“Don’t attack yet, it is getting desperate. Block it if it tries to escape and only attack with good enough openings!”

Silver roared as he stepped back.

Not doubting his orders, Sarah stopped her attack and stepped back.

“Ivar, do not attack, only focus on blocking him with your shield!”

Silver continued ordering around as he glanced around while focusing on the beast. Silver was easily able to see that the beast was going insane.

The beast stood still for a moment before its’ eyes turned blood red. Its body didn’t tremble any longer because of the injures, it sent Ivar a cold stare before pouncing on him.

More sweat started running down Ivar’s face, just trying to block the beast was a huge challenge.

Ivar had no idea that he would be able to fight against a monster, or a large beast. But, the moment he saw the beast, his mind turned calm and he did what the ‘Lancer’ class was supposed to do; block the enemy!

“I won’t let you!”

Ivar roared as he held his shield with all his might. Sweat could be seen running down on Ivar’s face, his hands were numb from holding the shield against the beast, but he adamantly held on.

“NOW!”

Silver roared his lungs out as he hurled himself towards the beast with the quickest speed he could muster. Silver held his runeglaive behind him as he ran, when Silver approached three meters away from the beast, he jumped up high, sending his own runeglaive hurling downwards towards the beast’s back.

Not even a moment later, a large axe was being smashed towards the beast. Sarah was gripping her axe, using all her might in attacking the beast for the last time.

“Crack!”

A cracking sound could be loudly heard as the runeglaive and the axe entered deeply into the beast’s body, which sent it to the ground, not making any more sound.

A second later, Ivar fell backwards, not having any strength left in his own body.

Sylvia hurriedly ran towards Ivar, asking him with a concerned voice.

“Ivar, are you alright?”

Ivar nodded weakly as he stared at the blue sky.

Sarah on the other hand, took her axe from the dead body of the beast. After she glanced at it, she saw that it was bloodied, Sarah did understand that she had to clean her axe, or it would get rusty.

Silver also lifted his runeglaive from the beast’s body, still keeping up his smile as he transferred his runeglaive to his space inventory inside of his ring.

“That was an interesting fight, it seems like that the class changes allowed us to stay calm in battle.”

After going through the memory of the fight, everyone swiftly understood that it was weird how calm they handled the situation.

“It was scary… But, I am glad that we managed to win without suffering injuries.”

Sylvia meekly spoke as she glanced at everyone.

“Ivar, get up, we better leave before we meet other beasts.”

Silver glanced around as he spoke, before thinking about it, he touched the beast and wanted it in his space inventory.

Not a second later, the dead body of the beast vanished.

“How?”

Sarah asked as she as surprised by the sudden disappearance of the body.

“Our rings.”

Silver answered as he didn’t glance at Sarah.

“I thought that we could place anything inside as long as it’s not alive. Then, why not a dead body?”

“Besides, I do think that this might be worth something. Let’s bring this back to Captain Tara.”

Sarah nodded as she glanced towards Ivar and Sylvia.

Ivar was already standing up, he also felt his weight, therefore he placed his shield and lance in his space inventory.

“It would be better if we could have decent clothes besides the armours. They are quite heavy…”

When hearing this, Sylvia and Sarah both had their hopes up. Of course, both of them like to wear beautiful clothes and not armour or robes…

“Hahaha.”

Silver laughed happily as he started walking towards the camp when he saw the three of them wanting new clothes.

“Let’s go back and see how much this beast is worth.”

“I can at least promise one thing, we will have a lot of beautiful clothes in the future when we are strong and rich, hahaha.”

Silver continued laughing heartily, but deep inside, he did also thought of wearing a certain type of clothes which would suit him…
