Xia's Fall

One might have expected that when father and son clashed, they would unleash techniques that transcended the comprehension of mortals— powers that warped reality, bent time, or shattered the fabric of existence. Yet, they didn’t.

Why?

Because they were equals in every sense—equal in power, in skill, in ability. Any supernatural technique either unleashed would be perfectly matched by the other. In the face of such perfect balance, the only way they could truly engage was like mortal martial artists, relying on raw combat prowess and fundamental techniques. Every punch, every kick, every movement was simple, but executed with a precision and force beyond the reach of any normal fighter.

In truth, you could say they were using their full powers in a way, yet the sheer equality between them created a null effect. Every attack was perfectly mirrored by an equally powerful counter, nullifying any advantage. They were locked in a stalemate, a battle where the only possible victor was the one who could outlast the other in sheer physical combat.

As the father-son duo exchanged blow after blow, something shifted. Xia Longwei’s hand began to change. The flesh twisted, morphing into long, writhing tendrils that shot out toward Xia Fugui like serpents. Xia Fugui frowned, his sharp eyes narrowing as he swiftly dodged the tendrils, his movements fluid and effortless.

“You shouldn’t be able to do that,” Xia Fugui remarked, his voice heavy with suspicion.

Xia Longwei smirked, his eyes gleaming with a wicked glint. “Yeah, I shouldn’t be able to, right?”

The tendrils lunged again, faster this time, but Xia Fugui was ready. His hand shot out, catching the tendrils with a firm grip. With a powerful yank, he pulled them toward him, dragging Xia Longwei along with them. In one swift motion, Xia Fugui unleashed a devastating punch aimed directly at his son’s face. The impact was tremendous, sending half of Xia Longwei’s face flying off in a spray of flesh and blood.

Yet Xia Longwei didn’t falter. He merely smiled, a grotesque expression with half of his face missing. “It’s all nonsensical, isn’t it?” he muttered, his voice distorted by the injury.

Xia Fugui’s frown deepened. There was something wrong—something deeply unsettling about this. His mind raced as he pieced together the puzzle.

“Your true body,” Xia Fugui said slowly, his voice laced with realisation. “Where is it?”

Xia Longwei’s eyes gleamed with amusement. “Hahaha! You have a Temporal Fragment with him. Can’t you check it yourself?” he sneered, his voice dripping with mockery.

Xia Fugui’s eyes widened in sudden clarity. The answer hit him like a hammer, the pieces falling into place. Of course. He hadn’t been paying attention to the Temporal Fragment.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

This… this wasn’t supposed to happen. It was out of line.Unless...

“The True Body is overwriting reality, isn’t it?”

Xia Longwei nodded slowly, a dark grin spreading across his half-formed face.

Only the True Body could wield such power

Xia Fugui's eyes darkened. If the True Body could manipulate reality at such a fundamental level, if it could overwrite the very rules of existence within the domain, it could only mean one thing— the True Body had arrived on the Continent.

Xia Fugui’s expression darkened. Without asking any further questions, he swiftly extended his will beyond the domain. The moment it escaped, it began meticulously scanning all occurrences and disturbances. To his surprise, it uncovered quite a lot. The Sect Masters had been completely obliterated by his Dragon Generals—an outcome he had not anticipated, expecting a much longer battle. Moreover, the True Grandmaster States of Ling Feng and Li Zhongu were proving more powerful than their Draconic States.

Though these revelations seemed nonsensical, Xia Fugui’s will quickly grasped the underlying cause. The True Body was partially overwriting reality, but this was being disrupted by another version of Xia Fugui from a different point in time, who was simultaneously restoring the overwritten reality to its fixed state, thus explaining the disturbances.

"The cause of the core disturbance must be where the True Body is," Xia Fugui’s will concluded as it began sweeping the entire continent with its Qi. However, before it could complete its task, something obliterated the will entirely.

As Xia Fugui’s vision refocused within the domain, he found a fist embedded in his chest—Xia Longwei’s fist, to be precise.

Yet, Xia Fugui did not panic. Realisation dawned in his eyes, which remained calm. He was always meant to lose.

"Do you have any idea how many times I had to reverse time?" Xia Longwei’s True Body roared, a madman's glee in his voice. "Every time I won, you would self-destruct your blood across all of time and space! I had to burn a portion of my own existence each time just to stop the blood from being erased completely! Did you know? The number of times I’ve fought and defeated you is greater than the seconds that passed between the end of the Mythical Era and the rise of Old Xia!"

As he gloated, his arm began to absorb something from Xia Fugui.

Xia Fugui stared at Xia Longwei, who grinned and continued.

“You never used the full extent of your power against me in this battle, even though you're incredibly strong. Do you know why?" Xia Longwei's grin widened as he spoke. "Because after all those self-destructions, you’ve weakened yourself so much that you’ve developed a limit on how much of your power you can even use! That’s how I managed to win. In the earlier iterations, you almost wiped me out, but now look at you—barely a fraction of your original self!”

A bitter expression crossed Xia Fugui’s face, while Xia Longwei, filled with glee, continued his tirade.

"But that wasn't the end of your tricks, was it? No! When you realised I was reversing reality, you made it corrosive to my soul! You almost had me, but now? Now, I’ve finally won!"

Xia Fugui, hearing this, asked one final question. "Why this time?"

Xia Longwei grinned but remained silent.

Xia Fugui, undeterred, asked another question. "So, who was it?"

Again, Xia Longwei said nothing, as the domain began to disperse, leaving only silence between them.
