— We arrived at our location after roughly a half-hour stroll.
“Can I ask, how did you get here? You don’t speak Tayman nor belong here judging by your funky-looking clothing.”
FUNKY CLOTHING? But, honestly, I don’t think plain oversized grey sweatshirts, black sweatpants, and sneakers are especially stylish in mediaeval society, and they surely weren’t back home... So I’ll overlook this one.
“Yeah… I have no idea myself. I just recall waking up here, and then it’s just blank.”
“Hmm, so do you know anyone here at all?”
“Nope..”
“So, what are your plans for the night? If you don’t have anything, you are welcome to crash at my place. My cousins and I are staying at an inn, but they rented a room for the two of them, leaving me alone.”
Why does he keep being so nice?
“Oh, thank you so much. No need, but if you’re serious about it and aren’t just taking pity on me, I would love to take you up on it.”
“FUHAHA, FINALLY A FOURTH MEMBER TO OUR PARTY.”
WHAT? DID HE JUST TRICK ME INTO JOINING HIS PARTY WITH BRIBERY? PARTY?? I CAN’T EVEN SWING A KNIFE. WHAT EXACTLY DOES HE WANT ME TO DO?! But I need to earn some money, or I’ll be homeless...
He does seem like a strong guy too, and friendly too. Maybe he even could train me?
“We’ll see about the party; I’m not very strong, and I’ve never fought before, but I could give it a shot if you really want me to.”
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“I KNEW YOU WOULD JOIN. THANKS, BUDDY!”
Is he implying that I’m a pushover? Whatever, well, I guess my adventurer life is about to begin!!
“Well, adventure buddy, what are we waiting for?”
I hope “buddy” is simply a passing phase for him...
“Let’s go grab something,” he remarked as he entered the inn, his face beaming like a child who had just made his first friend.
Leif truly is a gentle giant, isn’t he, huh?
Wow, this is not what I expected from my first inn. Where are all the rowdy drunks, people getting into fights and people getting hot and heavy? So far, the entire town hasn’t struck me as a joyful place, but one spot appears especially bleak...
“TWO STAKES AND TWO JUGS OF BEERS AT THIS TABLE, PLEASE!”
“I’LL BE RIGHT UP,” yelled the waiter from behind the counter.
— Quickly after.
“Here are your beers, guys.”
“Thanks!” x2
Could it really be? I’ve been thinking about it for a while.
“So, tell me then, Leif, this might seem odd, but what’s the name of this planet?”
“Huh? Ishtar.”
Since the Oath of Babel translates everything for me, it should have stated Earth, but it didn’t... Does this imply that this is a whole different planet?
Also, are these things cheap or something? Why did he give me one of them for free?
“Since I don’t remember anything, would you mind helping me and answering some of my questions?”
We then spent the whole afternoon and evening chatting away. Then once he got too drunk, he decided to serenade me with an angelic voice that I had not anticipated.
His selection of music is quite... How can I put it, tribal, isn’t my style, but I can still appreciate his voice.
But I was too fatigued to go on after this day, so we called it a day.
