The slums remained silent, a deathly chill hovering in the air. The muddy ground was littered with cockroaches, some alive, some dead, and some dying. Some were as big as half a foot, while some were as small as an inch.
With a scowl, Rex kicked a cockroach into the air, before a red bird snatched it and made it a snack. Rex gave a chuckle at the show.
“For a pest,” Rex said, almost yelling as he gazed at the ocean of cockroaches. Even his feet were buried in cockroaches, but all of them were scorched black and smoking.
“You sure are stubborn. The ultimate cockroach,” Rex laughed, walking around and kicking the dead roaches along the way.
Sometimes, he'd feel something squirming under his pants, socks, and feet. When that happened, his lower body would burst into flame, reducing the bugs under his clothes to ashes without damaging his clothes. His shoes and socks felt stuffed with ashes, but Rex didn't bother to take them off. He couldn't do so while in enemy territory.
Surveying the area, Rex’s short red hair swayed in the air like the feathers of Sunlight Sparrows, majestic and elegant.
He was wearing a brown jacket with a white shirt underneath and a pair of jeans. But now his jacket was torn and tattered, while several tiny holes littered his shirt and jeans.
Seeing the cockroaches refraining from their consistent attacks, Rex smiled.
“Now, the Mad Intuition is mine!”
Spreading out his arms, Rex let a booming laughter escape his mouth, his crazed eyes trembling with delight.
CRHSHSHHH…
Rex's ears twitched, and the ground seemed to churn. Rising from the crevices of the earth and the bodies of their relatives, a tsunami of billions of roaches arose from the ground. They flooded Rex, engulfing him in a cocoon of cockroaches crawling under his clothes and into his mouth, flooding his stomach with their bodies and eating him from inside out.
Rex didn't even let out a yelp of pain, his figure simply crumbled and the ocean of cockroaches flattened, rejoicing with their latest murder.
CRACKLE—
Sparks floated in the air, and a dozen of Sunlight Sparrows descended from the sky. All of them were burning brightly like a meteor and as they landed, a whirlwind of fire erupted!
Rex walked out from the flames, unbothered and unharmed.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
“...Really, what a troublesome fellow,” Rex sighed, shrugging his shoulders as he kept walking forward. This time, the Sunlight Sparrows were following him closely.
“The other three colonies are cake work compared to you,” Rex clicked his tongue, shaking his head in annoyance.
<...Arrogant. Human.>
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Rex waved his hand, rolling his eyes at the rough voice he heard.
“I’m arrogant, yes. ‘Cause I'm fuckin’ strong, not like the coward giant you are,” Rex laughed, his shoulders bobbing up and down.
“HAHAHA! Not only are you a coward, you're child-like too! What are you, a fucking baby?!”
“Hmm? Hey, wait a fuckin—” Rex looked around, frantic when he sensed that the cockroaches were fleeing from him. He had yet to find the leader of the Cockroaches, despite knowing that it was two feet in size.
“Fuck, find them!” Rex yelled, making the Sunlight Sparrows bolt across the small, ruined residential area deep in the slums.
Unfortunately for Rex, the cockroaches can hide anywhere they want, and flee whenever they wish. Before Rex could even see another living cockroach, the Mad Intrusion had already escaped.
+++-+++-+++
Crawling through the underground sewers, the Cockroach Mother was deep in thought.
‘The ants and the strange bugs, where to meet them?’ She wondered. She knew where to find the Swarm and the Lava Ants, but she had no idea where to find Helzar and the Lava Queen.
‘I need help. Need strength.’
Although they can multiply rapidly, faster than even the Swarm, their individual strength is low compared to Agents. They hadn't even killed a single Agent yet.
‘I’m weak.’
The Mad Instruction burrowed a hole through the sewers, digging a new tunnel. As they kept digging, however, the Cockroach Mother noticed the surrounding soil getting moist, soaked in a strange liquid.
‘What?’
Stopping in her tracks, she had her daughters and their daughters inspect the liquid.
‘It’s bad.’
She moved backwards, watching as hundreds of roaches flipped on their backs, struggling to keep their life as the toxic reached their bodies.
‘Not food,’ she concluded and turned to walk away, when—
BOOOM!
The earth exploded above her, crushing her two feet long body and pinning her to the ground. Blood leaked from her back, staining the ground blue as she hissed in pain.
“There you are,” Rex smirked, sending the Sunlight Sparrows to surround the Cockroach Mother. With a face eating grin, he spoke.
“Now surrender to me, or die.”
Rex frowned, thinking that the Cockroach Mother would rebel again. A second later, his frown turned upside down when a soothing feeling enveloped his head. He felt this before, it was during the time he took control of the Sunlight Sparrows.
“HAHAHA! Great! Finally! Now, the West Continent is mine too!” Rex laughed, the grin on his face spreading even wider.
BUZZZ…
His madness took a halt, a buzz entering his ears. His head snapped toward the noise, his eyes wide in surprise.
“Tch,” seeing a three inch bug flying away from him, flames devoured his head, before ice cold rationality doused his rage.
“I'll come for you, don't you worry.”
Rex chuckled, clapping his hands. He was wearing his red gloves, both of which were anomalies that he created himself. Flames engulfed his hands and forearms, but he felt not an ounce of pain.
“You could've won the lottery, but you chose to discard your ticket,” Rex stared coldly at the fleeing Spawn, snapping his fingers. A Sunlight Sparrow bolted toward the Spawn with its beak open, ready to eat a fat snack.
BUZZZZ!!!
Before it could, however, five inch ants took to the skies like a carpet of missiles, each and every one of them homing in on the giant sparrow.
“An ambush?” Rex frowned, recalling the Sunlight Sparrow. Before the ants could swarm the bird, the sparrow burst at extreme speeds and flew past the ants. It flew high before diving down and landing beside Rex.
An enraged voice rang in Rex's ears and he saw an ocean of ants flying toward him in the blue sky, dying the skies in a crimson red.
