We’ve been camping in the same place for the past 4 days. We searched the whole “new city” that was created after being separated from the main one. The rest is just too far away to go on foot safely. We would risk monster attacks, so the majority choose to just camp here and wait for the 7 days the System talked about to pass.
We thought maybe, just maybe, the class It talked about will help us survive. And today is the day of the big reveal.
On a side note, my “Idol’s Charisma” is now lvl11, which also unlocked the “Trainee Idol” path upon reaching 10, seems like this System really likes its round numbers.
Trainee Idol 13/25
Your path is one of popularity and control. You feed on the attention given to you and use it to control the mass. People want to protect you, but you have to entertain them to stay on their mind.
That’s what it says.
“Fuck! It’s making me look like a fucking whore! «Entertain them to stay on their mind » my ass! That’s just fucking around for them to then pay. That’s not being an idol, that’s being a prostitute!”
That was my reaction then. For now, it gave nothing, compared to Captain Hertz’s stat gain every 5 CP invested.
Now! Unto the most important thing of the day! The class thingie!
Congratulations! You survived the first 7 days! Due to your enormous achievements, you will be able to choose between 3 Classes. Choose wisely, you won’t be able to change it.
Available Classes:
1. Idol
2. Myrmidon
3. Parasite
“Fuck’s that?! What the fuck is that System thinking about me?! A Thug?! Do I look like some fucking thug? And a Parasite?! I know I didn’t do much during these last days, but come on, what do you expect of a normal lady like myself?”
Upon my exploded rage… no one turns...? Seems like they’re all too absorbed by their respective messages.
Anyway, it looks like I have no real choice here. At least, I got a path and a skill already associated with one of those classes. Idol it is!
Congratulations! Thanks to your accomplishment, you have been awarded the Idol class.
You will now gain 2 Control per level.
Oh! Control gain, eh? So now I can control others more easily the more levels I get? Is it like Charisma?
Beware for I am the Idol Manipulator! Bend your knee in front of your queen!
Or something? Anyway, what does my Status look like, now?

Eh? So if Control is on the side it’s not for nothing, I guess? nothing was changed but its value…
And damn, that Mana recovery is really low, taking hours to get some points back is quite long. I really don’t want to be using mana… But then again, Stamina would require me to fight physically, I guess… Thank god I could choose a non-combat related class.
Sound of various chatter jolted me out of my class reverie.
Seems like everyone is talking about their new class. And Captain Hertz is approaching me. Looks like my new idol charm is working full steam.
“So Clara,” He starts, resting his left hand on my shoulder. “Is your Class looking good? I’m now an Alpha Captain apparently, so you can rely on me even more now. Even got a skill with it. The more people I’m defending, the stronger I get, looks really nice, so don’t worry if you didn’t get something particularly strong.”
I dryly laugh. “I got the choice between a thug and other shit things, so it’s really reassuring to see you got my back, with my Class not looking good and all…”
His eyes soften and exclaims with a hearty laugh: “Thug eh? It looks like that was one of the most common Classes, all my men had the choice to take it. Most chose the Soldier Class or some variant. One of them chose the Cook Class, though, so don’t worry about having a class not fit to fight. I didn’t see you as one for fighting, anyway, so it’s better like this.”
“To each their own, right?” I say, a bit meekly.
“To each their own, yes! To each their own!” He turns toward his men. “Anyway, gotta handle those guys now. Alright! Everyone line up! Tell me the details of your new Classes! We gotta work on our new power, plan a new way to fight!” He then turns to the others, the civilians. “And you, if anyone got a combat class, it would be nice for you to join us in planning.”
To this announcement, most flinched or looked away, but the two guys that got special paths. Jeremy and Paul, if I remember well. They both nodded to Captain Hertz’s comment and then joined the ranks.
“Oh! Before I forget!” Exclaimed the officer yet again, turning to his mens. “Miller! I heard you chose to become a Cook? I expect you to do a damned good job in that! or you’ll regret choosing something like that!”
The comment made the soldier in question flinch, but he answered affirmatively nonetheless. What self-control. Maybe he got a high Control stat?
And that was how our group started with their class.
Jeremy is apparently a Brawler, makes sense since I saw him fighting the grey monsters with his bare fist. He said he obtained a skill that lets him deflect some damage with his fists, making him a nice shield to rely on. Paul is a Swordsman now, it doesn’t make much sense though. The guy just used a pole to bash in the monster’s heads. He also got a skill, making his “sword” sharper… How does that even make sense?
And damn, everyone got a skill with their classes, even Miller, but I got nothing myself. not even from my path, like the others!!
I reached over 10CP used and nothing, when everyone else reached it and got stats. Even by finishing the “Basic Human” path, people got 2 of each stats!!
Why am I bullied by this system?!
