I can’t believe it…
Just after transforming and losing Aspects, a Khron Pillar appears! And just before me too.
And for what reason? Someone met a species from another world? But then, what were all those Creslin fuckers? Not a new species? Are they from Earth?
After internally rumbling, I get closer to the monument. It is of a dark gray-blue so dull it reminds me of my old man’s life in his retirement home. However, there’s a yellow-ish light seeping from the various runes that covers each of its facade. Those vaguely resemble a mix between draconic runes from dungeon and dragons’ fifth edition and Tolkien’s Uruk’s runes.
The obelisk is in itself around 6 meters high and around 2.5 meters in diameter?
Wait no, I’m smaller now, with that new, green body, I’d say it’s more around 3 meters in diameter for 7 meters high, maybe.
Welcome User! The current quest to advance your Zone is in progress:
* Get rid of the Creslin pest roaming around the pillar 100/100
* Form a community of 20 person around the pillar 1/20
* Choose a Leader 0/1
“Oh… Quests now, huh? It was something quite rare to see back when I was reading all those litRPG novels. So now we need to form a community here?” I say out loud.
I guess I’ll need to clean out the zone around the pillar and then to search for other survivors if we want to advance the quest.
Talking about it, I don’t remember killing this many Creslins, is it a common quest, then?
I can’t really go too far away from the pillar then if I want to receive a potential reward.
Thinking that, I get down to work; The debris won’t disappear as if by magic. And neither would the corpse.
Until now, I haven’t done much with the corpse of the creatures I killed. I just let them rot there, I’ll need to change that to convince people, too.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
And so, I started by moving the giant corpse toward the nearby park, I’ll try burying it to feed the trees over there a bit. There’s even hazel trees among them, we might be able to eat something else than packed chips.
If we are to form a community, we’ll need a way to cultivate food, thank god this park is not too far away from the pillar. Now that I think about it, maybe the pillar will give us that after completing the quest?
Now I’m really hyped to complete this quest. I’ll even be this community Leader, being the Hero that I am.
With such thoughts, I reached my goal, not without trouble.
I take a big stick lying around having nothing better to shovel and start down the hole. It is already night, but without the light pollution, the moon and stars are somehow enough for me to see what I am doing.
…
After digging the hole during the whole night, shoving the Cresclin Chief inside and then filling it back, I worked on clearing out the debris. Most of them ended up inside the various cracks that littered the ground. Now it’s as good as new.
This whole process took me around two more days, with me resting at night in the park and eating the nuts from the trees.
I even bathed for the first time in weeks. It was in the pond, though, so not with the cleanest water, but at least now I’m not completely covered in blood.
That way, I might be able to convince people to join the community…
“Who am I kidding…” I sigh, “With how I look now, I’m not even sure I’ll be able to talk to someone before being attacked on sight. Only nerds and people that have never seen a Creslin would try to talk with me first… I look too much like them!!”
Indeed, you just need to change my green skin to a grey colour and replace my hands with long claws and then you can say that I am a Creslin.
But I can think! And I was a human originally!
Wait, were Creslin humans too at first? But they were then changed by the system into those like I was? Is it why meeting them didn’t create the pillar?
“Am I… A murderer?” I murmur, “Wait no, I can’t be, I’m a Hero, the system acknowledged me! There might be another reason!”
And the monsters appeared quite early too. Too early for it to be a transformation, based on my own experience. I had to kill so many of those monsters before it happened to me.
So it’s something else… If I were to manage a scenario like this, what would they be… Spirits, maybe? Something born from a new energy that was released into our earth, which would explain the new terrain and the system itself?
Anyway, no more dwelling on this kind of thing! I should work on this quest for now.
Now, I need to maybe make it look like there’s a settlement around the pillar to lure people here. Maybe even tell them it’s dangerous to go near the pillar otherwise they’ll lose consciousness or something. Since you need to be really near to get the quest screen, I’ll be the only one to get all the rewards.
“Alright, time to build houses, then!” I exclaim. “But I have no idea how to build nor do I have the material to do so. Then first, I’ll need to scavenge a bit for tools, hoping they won’t be too big for me.”
Oh, and I’ll also need to watch my back, seeing a Goblin scavenging buildings might scare some people or even prompt them to attack me, they can’t see that I’m a Hero yet.
