Entry 1:
The land started to expand before my eyes. What was supposed to be a big pond became a grand lake.
What was once the nearby and sheltered political science campus became a bastion, hours away from the city. Hours by car that is, if fuel is still something that exists now.
The hills surrounding the small village northwest of the city became mountains. The village itself didn't change, though. At least of what I have seen before the village started drifting away. Or maybe it’s us that did?
And finally, it seems this "border" the System talked about cut through a part of the town directly west to us.
Yes, east! Somehow the southernmost part of the city was moved towards the coast, southeast.
And since this farce went one during the rush-hours, I suspect the city is but a ghost town.
“Eh! That’s really something to watch occurring right before your eyes, right?” the nosy captain told me. He saved my life the moment one of those creatures, labelled Creslin by the System, jumped on me.
You know, it was a normal after-work journey. Stopping at one of the numerous idol-specialized shops. I was looking at the costumes particularly, telling myself how I wanted to wear one, too.
And out of nowhere, this thing appeared right before my eyes, between myself and the object of my adoration and greed:
Congratulations! Your planet has been chosen to host one of the Systems participating in the Ezro-Hoktan System Tournament.
You will now be attributed randomly one of the different Systems
Processing…
System #489 now have been attributed.
Good luck.
Welcome to System #489.
You now have been given Stats according to your actual physical and mental conditions.
You can consult them in your Profile together with other information.
Your world will now change to assimilate the System’s energy and allow you to evolve in order to participate in the higher rounds of the Tournament.
You will be attributed a Class in 7 days based on your accomplishment.
And mere moments after that, a small, grey-skinned thing attacked me and tore off my suit, and a part of my abdomen’s skin.
Thankfully, Captain Hertz saw the scene and shot the monster after it crashed into the shop. He was patrolling around, what with the recent terrorist attacks we had and such.
Anyway, now I’m following his squad, wearing the very same costume I admired just to replace my torn clothes, hoping they’ll deal with all those terrifying creatures.
Entry 2:
That’s it! I can’t bear it anymore!
We’ve been walking nonstop for the past 5 hours. Now, the small squad became a large group of 20.
You’d think there’d be more than 20 people in there since most people were in this part of the city when the big change happened. And you are not wrong, we were much more sometime earlier, but after an organized attack led by a much bigger Cres-something, we had to retreat after losing most of the newcomers.
It’s sickening how I’m not even reacting that much to those deaths.
At least, now we are resting in one of the sole intact building. It was a grocery store before, but sadly, it was already raided by other unfortunate souls like us. We just found some chocolate bars and some bandages that somehow ended up under a buckled down shelf. However, the bandages are a bit useless now, the scratch I got from this monster is already healing. Not incredibly fast, but it’s still faster than you’d reckon as normal. Might by this Health and “+2.80/h” thing in my status.
Yep, Status… This looks like that:

Paths:
So there’s something named Aspects, Form and Paths in there. Based on what the soldiers said, they seem to have gained Aspect and Form by killing monsters, so I guess it’s like a game's experience? But they also have this “lv?” so maybe not. And the Form thing was expressed by percentages while Aspect is in numbers… So for now, we have no clue what it really does.
And as for the Paths thing, seems like you can gain one by doing extraordinary deeds. For now, we have only Captain Hertz with one, named “Last Squad’s Captain”. However, it seems like he can’t finish it for now. That’s why none of us tried to get the “Basic Human” one. We don’t know what those things could do to us. They might completely change us, even more than the System already did.
Entry 3:
Ok! Now I’m starting to see how I can use those “skills” the System gave us.
Apparently, we received a first one reflecting our aptitudes and personality. I wonder why I was given “Idol’s Charisma”.
Is it finally my debut as an idol? During the apocalypse? Best debut ever! See me sing along while I kill zombies with an oversized spiked bat.
Kidding aside, it seems like I compel persons to protect and follow me, not the best skill, but at least I don’t need to actively use it and it helped me survive until now, it’s even level 6 now, whatever that means.
And then, I got another skill, “Low Kick”, after having kicked an a-bit-too-friendly-for-my-taste soldier in the nuts. It’s now level 3 after I also actively used it on other of those fuckers that tried to steal from us, while we were camping out, searching for other survivors.
Our group now numbers in the forties, the 10 original soldiers from Hertz’s squad have been joined by 3 other soldiers that were in another squad that has been decimated. The rest of us is only composed of random civils that had the luck to survive the first 10 hours of the chaos ensued by this System. Some hid under debris, others were found almost directly, but there are also 2 guys that actively fought against the creatures before we found them. Apparently, they have high physical stats. They were the first two to get another path than the “Basic Human” one. It’s supposedly related to one of their skills reaching lv10.
Looks like I really will become an Idol when my skill reaches level 10… I don’t know how to react to that news. Do we really need an idol rising up during the apocalypse?
For the Captain, seems like his path is nearing the end. He told us he gained stats every 5 CP invested so I really might take the first path coming up that doesn’t cost less than 5, would be a waste otherwise.
It’s been 3 days since this mess started.
