Kai raised his eyebrow before pinching the nose of the girl before him, snickering, "You're a Goddess?? Hey, little girl, even children know that lies ain't good, they make your nose grow longer hehehe."
Amaterasu slapped Kai's offensive hand away as she stuttered, "Y-You insolent brat, touching a Goddess like me without permission! Guess I've to teach you a divine lesson or two!"
Kai rolled his eyes as he sighed, "You still going about that Goddess crap? Very well, prove to me that you're Goddess then!"
Amaterasu's cheeks puffed as she pouted, "In my prime, I would have struck you down for such sacrilegious remarks. However, I've lost a substantial amount of my power, so I'm forced to adopt another approach instead.
Let's see, wow, you're a rather peculiar being, having human, Sylph and demonic ancestry! This has never happened before in the world that we have created! You're an ano-, no, a miracle I must say!"
Kai was stumped. He had not met anyone who could determine his ancestry just by looking at him, not to mention that he had kept both his mana and demonic energy emission to near zero levels. Perhaps this girl was truly the Goddess she claims to be.
Kai thought silently, "Even if this "Amaterasu" isn't a Goddess, she is probably a treasure trove of information. I should learn as much from her as possible, especially since I can't think of a way out of this realm, for now at least."
Kai asked humbly, bowing his head, "I'm sorry if I'd offended you with my words earlier, please accept my humblest apologies, your…Holiness? By the way, just out of curiosity, how are you able to determine my ancestry so easily? I'm sure I've kept my mana and demonic energy emission to the minimum."
Amaterasu replied proudly, "You're forgiven, just call me by name, for honorific can be pretty troublesome, don't you agree? Anyway, I may have lost a huge chunk of my power, but I still retain some of my unique abilities as a deity of this world.
As a Goddess of Order and Creation, it should be no surprise that I can read your soul energy, after all, I used to be the Mother of all Life in my heyday. Okay, maybe not all life forms since my brother had his fair share of creations as well."
Kai appeared perplexed as he enquired, "Soul energy? Are you referring to mana?" Amaterasu shook her head violently before explaining, "Soul energy is the most primitive basis of life in the world created by my brother and me. Over time, as the 4 major races evolved further, they developed their own unique frequencies of soul energy.
This formed a spectrum consisting of mana which is used by both humans and Sylphs, demonic energy which is used by the Demons and finally, celestial energy which is used by the Celestials. Regardless of the differences between these 3 forms, at the end of the day, they are simply variants of the original soul energy I bestowed upon this world."
Kai nodded slowly as he digested the information presented, mumbling, "I see, since mana and demonic energy are both offshoots of soul energy, you're able to determine my ancestry by differentiating between the variants of soul energy which I possess. However, why do you call me a miracle? And who's this brother you speak of?"
Amaterasu let out a sigh as she explained, "Slow down my boy, I just realised that you've yet to properly introduce yourself. Why don't you share with me some facts about yourself, such as your parents' race before I answer your questions one by one?"
Kai gulped nervously before replying, "Right, I'm Kai Veridian of Nirvania. My biological father is a half-demon while my biological mother is a Sylph, explaining my ancestry. Is this enough information about myself?"
Amaterasu smiled upon hearing the word 'Nirvania' as she chirped excitedly, "You're from Nirvania too? What a coincidence, my informant, who is the only other person who can enter this realm, is also a citizen of Nirvania! Maybe you'll meet her one day.
Anyway, to explain why I perceive your existence as a miracle, we must go back to the concept of soul energy. Mana, demonic energy and celestial energy differ not only in frequencies, but also in their respective properties.
Each variant has a particular theme, which I believe you should be familiar with at least 2 by now. Mana is characterised by "Flexibility", explaining why it can be converted to so many forms, such as the natural elements in elemental magic.
Demonic energy is characterised by "Fission", explaining its disintegrative properties. While demonic energy can be converted to other forms as well, the number of such forms are more severely limited than mana, often confined to solely destructive elements.
Celestial energy is characterised by "Fusion", explaining its integrative properties. Like demonic energy, it can only be converted to a limited number of forms, mainly reparative elements.
Back to the main topic, mana is the intermediate form out of all 3 variants, explaining its ability to coexist peacefully with the other 2 variants. Subsequently, this is the reason why half-demon and half-Celestial humans are feasible.

However, the mana possessed by Sylphs are unique, for they are much closer in frequency and properties to Celestial energy than the mana possessed by humans, since Sylphs are descended from Celestials after all.
The dissociative properties of demonic energy and the associative properties of Sylph mana are completely antagonistic to each other, and would destroy each other if forcefully combined. Consequently, a person created with both such energies in normal situations would naturally be aborted, since he should have no soul to speak.
Kai, your very existence defies this natural law, since you're able to wield both demonic energy and Sylph mana perfectly! Hence, that's why you're my little miracle, someone who wields the powers of both my brother and myself!"
Kai's jaw dropped as he struggled to register Amaterasu's words. Upon recovering from his initial shock, Kai muttered, "I see, that explains why I failed when I tried to combine my [Red Lightning] with my [White Lightning] forcefully. Guess Akame was right, it's impossible to achieve a triple fusion element strong enough to defeat that cursed Chaos General."
Amaterasu's face darkened instantly as she whispered, "Did you say, Chaos General? One of the seven who possess fragments of my brother's soul?"
Kai was brought back to reality by Amaterasu's sudden remark before he answered, "Yeah, I was fighting the Chaos General of Wrath, Amon, before I was transported to this realm. Wait, Amon possesses a fragment of your brother's soul? Who's your brother anyway, is he another deity like yourself?"
Amaterasu nodded gravely, "Yes, my brother is the God of Chaos and Destruction, Astaroth. After my battle with him centuries ago, I sealed him in a realm similar to this one, but it turns out that he'd managed to split his soul into 7 fragments before he was sealed, creating the 7 Chaos Generals, each embodying one of the greatest sins mortals can commit.
I've heard from my informant that the Chaos Generals are now at the helm of the organisation created by my brother, the Chaos Legion. They seek to hasten his resurrection by filling the world with negativity, the very energy my brother feeds on.
If they're successful in bringing my brother back…there's probably only one person that can stop him now, and that's not you, for now anyway."
Kai scratched his head in confusion as he uttered, "Astaroth isn't just some fictional idol of the Chaos Legion? He's a real, breathing god hell-bent on the destruction of the world? God, I'm starting to comprehend my existence as an insignificant speck amidst all the bigwigs out there in the world."
Amaterasu placed an assuring hand on Kai's shoulder as she advised soothingly, "You may be a speck now, but I have faith that you'll grow into a bright star, which light would guide this world for years to come. Your very existence is testament to my words.
However, let's address the issue at hand. If I'd heard correctly, you said that you were in the midst of attempting to create a triple fusion element from both demonic energy and Sylph mana in order to defeat a Chaos General before you ended up here, right?"
Kai nodded in despair before mumbling, "That's correct. It's impossible, given the extremely contrasting natures of both variants, right? Even if it was possible, firstly, I can't escape from this realm and secondly, Amon would just reincarnate again even if I killed him, making this a never-ending problem. It's only a matter of time that Astaroth gets resurrected at this rate."
Amaterasu turned furious as she retorted angrily, "How can you give up so easily? Have you ever considered the fact that perhaps your approach is incorrect and that it is possible to achieve a triple fusion element?"
Kai shook out of his stupor as he asked relentlessly, "You mean it's really possible to achieve a triple fusion element from two contradictory elements? Didn't you say earlier that if two such elements are forcefully combined, they would destroy each other?"
Amaterasu sighed, "Okay, let me explain using a 'scientific' analogy. Your current approach, which succeeded in creating your [Red Lightning] and [White Lightning], essentially revolves around combining the constituent elements into a compound; a single substance with unique new properties.
This approach works for non-contradictory elements, for they do not destroy each other upon fusion. However, as mentioned earlier, in the case of antagonistic elements, you can't forcefully combine them into a single element, for they are simply incompatible.
Therefore, when dealing with antagonistic elements, harmonious diversity is key. In other words, you want them to coexist in the same space, yet retain their separate properties. This is very much like a mixture instead of a compound. Just as how steel contains both iron and carbon that are kept chemically separate in contrast to iron carbonate."
Enlightened by Amaterasu's words, Kai's mood instantly brightened as he attempted to create the triple fusion element. Unfortunately, nothing emerged from his hands as Amaterasu explained, "In this realm, you can't use magic because all you have is your soul, which if touched, can endanger your life. I suggest trying your fusion element out only when you've returned to the mortal plane."
Kai enquired, "There's a way out of this realm? Please, show it to me, Amaterasu! Even if I can't eliminate Amon from the face of the earth, with this potential power, I can at least protect my friends from him!"
Amaterasu smiled gently before whispering, "Calm down, Kai. I may be devoid of most of my power, but even I still have enough to send you back to the mortal plane, though that would be the last of the reserves I had accumulated painstakingly over centuries.
Not that it matters, for I've no intention to return to the mortal plane unlike my brother. After all, I've already entrusted the fate of the world to my son, the 3rd deity which you must find on my behalf, Kai, in the event that Astaroth is close to resurrection.
His name is Grimm Haven, the God of Life and Death. Only he possesses enough power to stop Astaroth if Astaroth returns. Of course, the ideal solution is to prevent Astaroth's return in the first place, and I believe that can only be achieved by the permanent destruction of his 7 Chaos Generals.
Unfortunately, even I do not know how to destroy the souls of the 7 Chaos Generals for eternity. I'm afraid that this is a huge task that I'm laying on your shoulders, Kai, to discover a method of exorcising the 7 Chaos Generals for good.
If you have any further questions when you've returned to the mortal plane, look for a person named Kuroka Blake, she is my informant there and I believe she would assist you to the best of her ability."
Kai nodded solemnly, "I'll keep your words and advice close to my heart, Amaterasu. Thank you once again for this enlightening exchange. If you would, please, I've got a Chaos General's butt to kick."
Amaterasu nodded before placing both her hands on Kai's chest, transferring the last of her power to him as Kai's body was covered by a blinding white glow. It wasn't long before Kai's body began to flicker, thereafter disappearing completely within seconds.
With tears in her eyes, Amaterasu muttered, "Good luck, my little miracle…there's hope in this world after all, amidst the chaos."
