Chapter 65: Perpetual (1)

Chapter 65: Perpetual (1)

Atop his flying sword Nineprime, Heifeng Jiansui burnt his Black Phoenix blood essence like oil to accelerate his speed, even using the secret arts of the Black Phoenix heritage all to no avail. Despite everything, he was still mortal.

Just then, a beauty arrived before him. She appeared to have changed from the day they met long ago. No longer in the guise of a teen but still at the peak of her youth, she was clad in a loose robe with long sleeves that covered her body while displaying her curves. The back of the robe had two letters painted in Imperial Calligraphy, mighty and profound.

九源. Nine Origin. Nineyuan.

The World Spirit who should have been like the heavens, treating all underneath it like dogs actually established the supreme sect, disseminated her teachings and consciously controlled the fate of the world!

“Long time no see… Nineorigin. Have you come to witness the rebirth of the Perpetual Emperors as well?”  Heifeng Jiansui treated her like an old friend.

She simply snorted at his greeting. “What an astute observation. It is good that I noticed you coming, or I would have teleported to that place already. Come with me.” Her hand shot out her sleeves to grap Heifeng Jiansui. It was cold yet smooth like snow.

The power of teleportation surged as the two flashed through spacetime at the speed of thought.

They arrived to an area separated from the Nineorigin Chaosworld’s Heavenly Dao, yet far away from the limitless, desolate cosmos outside. On arrival, Nineorigin opened up a great seal barring the energies being emitted from entering the Chaosworld, keeping curious eyes from this place.

Free to watch the legendary spectacle, the two found that there was only a black hole. All colors disappeared and there only remained the all consuming black hole and the white light being swallowed. White and black, they formed into a circle, similar to the Yin-Yang fishes in the Taiji Diagram.

In the end, the black devouring force and the white light being devoured disappeared. There only remained a void. No space, no time, no dark, no light, no law and no life. This was pure emptiness of the void, the Daoscript that Heifeng Jiansui was pursuing.

Even so, this void emptiness would sustain infinity, birthing a Chaosworld, forming the Heavenly Dao and granting life. For a moment, the emptiness of the void stayed constant as a desolate space, and then a symbol arrived. It was completely indecipherable, but Heifeng Jiansui knew it’s meaning due to his acquaintance with the two Emperors... the perfect fusion of Yin-Yang before being separated, Ultimate Perfection!

The infinite void was also without limits. Emptiness gave birth to its antithesis, and the symbol that was formed was all Laws, yet no Law. It was incomparably dense Primal Chaos energy, termed as Ultimate Perfection, containing all existence, capable of birthing all existence.

Limitless power of primal chaos arrived, the energy before the birth of the universe. The power of creation separated into Yin and Yang. Two figures formed, warping space time and reversing karma and destiny in rebirth.

Energy from the boundless universe gathered together in perpetual motion, forming a peerless two bodies and a supreme world for the background. One man and one woman, stepping into eternity together, falling from the skies together. Of course, their rebirth would be beside each other…

The limitless, perpetual energy formed body, clothes and weapons. When the cloud of energy unveiled, two figures, a lady and a gentleman clothed in white and black stood wearing blades of the same color in the left and right hands. Firmly standing atop a world yet to be born, they glanced down at the Nineorigin Chaosworld.

Their eyes fell upon Heifeng Jiansui and Nineorigin, the two figures who were carefully observing their rebirth. Seeing Heifeng Jiansui’s mortal face and aura, there was unfamiliarity but seeing the sword he stood on, there could be no mistake.

Two voices, one sweet and one firm, called at the figure on the flying sword. “Quintessence Sword Saint! Since you have finally come with a woman by your side, why don’t you make the introductions?”

At their call, Nineorigin blushed red with embarrassment, but Heifeng Jiansui did not pay attention. Immediately grabbing her hand, he flew into the still forming world. The two noticed that Heifeng Jiansui was still a mortal, and thus lowered the emitting energy to allow him to step on the barren earth.

Even though Nineorigin was the strongest in the group, fully capable of handling the two Perpetual Emperors, she demurely hid herself behind Heifeng Jiansui’s frame. Seeing this, the two gently chuckled. As for Heifeng Jiansui, he didn’t notice nor did he care.

“Pure Yang Emperor, Extreme Yin Empress… It has only been a million years, but it seems like an eternity as passed, hasn’t it? Since you two have come, the Battle Emperor will soon arrive as well… It seems that I shouldn’t have mourned your deaths, that existence born at the beginning at the previous era always had schemes that would leave me at a loss.” Heifeng Jiansui had a trace of fondness as he spoke.

“Of course, the ‘Perpetual’ in our titles isn’t meaningless after all. Far surpassing Immortal Kings, the meaning of perpetuity is to exist eternally, surpassing even death… That the Battle Emperor’s formation to keep the Black Dragon occupied for 1000 years had the additional effect of accelerating our rebirth after our death was something that you shouldn’t have known… given that you were desperately training in that time acceleration formation to surpass us and slaughter that Calamity for good… The fact that you are alive and I was reborn means that you succeeded.” The Pure Yang Emperor happily said this while the Extreme Yin Empress looked on benevolently.

“Anyway, why don’t you introduce your woman? Along with losing your perpetuity and losing your humanity to become a Phoenix, I didn’t expect you to take a woman to introduce to us… You famously were solitary even in the previous era.” The Extreme Yin Empress spoke up, giving an evaluating look to Nineorigin who blushed.

“This… is the World Spirit born from the Nineorigin Chaosworld after I sacrificed my Perpetual Core to it at the end of the era. She controls the Chaosworld, has the strength of a Chaos Sovereign and is currently the strongest among us. I was also granted reincarnation to this form by her. I am not the kind of person to go after the things beyond my reach.” At his answer Nineorigin’s expression wilted a bit, while the two Emperors looked on curiously.

“Anyway, that whole thing about Perpetuity was something I only suspected. Even after reaching the apex, all the powers of the Perpetual Emperors are unknown. All ancient records about Perpetual Emperors only mention the small things that we know after breakthrough… But for the Battle Emperor to know that isn’t all that surprising.” Heifeng Jiansui said this after some thought.

“You must still be stewing inside, shouldn’t you? After all, even before becoming a Perpetual Emperor, you crazily devoured cultivation manuals and legacies from wherever you could find. Back then, when the Battle Emperor acknowledged you as a personal disciple when you were a half-step Perennial Lord, you took advantage of it to attack all the archives of the notable sects of the previous era.” The Pure Yang Emperor had a mocking expression on his face as he said that.

“It was amazing, that moment. I just slaughtered the Five Immortal Kings of that Five Sacred Demon Immortal Sect, stole all their legacies and treasures and kidnapped the top female disciples as well. I thought that the Battle Emperor wanted to kill me off, but that person actually appreciated my ascent after receiving a part of the Immemorial Battle legacy and took me in.” Heifeng Jiansui had a nostalgic expression on his face.

“You were a peerless genius even at that time. Killing off five Immortal Kings without entering the Three Steps of Immortality… that should be impossible but you did it anyway. Speaking of it, you should have some Daoscripts formed, but you are clean. Did you decide to live in this era as a mortal or something?” The Pure Yang Emperor looked at Heifeng Jiansui thoughtfully.

“Oh, I built quite a bit of them up, but then I came of age and decided to push down a woman. That person had a constitution that devoured Daoscripts, so all of them were sucked off.” At Heifeng Jiansui’s candid explanation, the Pure Yang Emperor guffawed.

“Hahaha… You… haven’t changed. Cultivating and devouring knowledge for power, eating for taste, exploring new vistas for sight, taking women for sense, slaughtering to sate bloodlust, looting treasures to fulfill your greed… All you do is to satiate your desires.” The Pure Yang Emperor’s expression was unfathomable.

“I was the shallowest among all of us … But it was perhaps a natural result of my path. From the day I was orphaned, I embarked on the path of slaughter, even changing my name to show my resolve. From the Breezerain Minor World, I learnt inner strength skill that was my family heritage to slaughter the gang that murdered my family. Their head was a young master of some trash sect, so I ended up offending them. After I ran from that Sect's rage, a girl from a Blood Water sect opposing it sheltered me and taught me martial arts for revenge. After I somehow cultivated and ended that opposing sect, I ended up offending another young master from a martial family... After I relocated the Blood Water sect to prevent its extermination, I embarked on a journey to end that martial family…

It seems meaninglessly monotonous, but my entire path ended up with me offending or stepping on some young master or the other. I was a harbinger of destruction for all sects, be it those opposing me or helping me. While I tried my best to help my factions out, I gave up making any 'friends' and 'love' and temporarily allied with some group for certain endeavors and pushed down some women for one night stands, without seeking anything lasting. Only after the Battle Emperor took me in did I think of pursuing something that would last...” Heifeng Jiansui had a nostalgic expression on his face as he said this.
