To everyone that has read this far, thank you for your interest, and I hope you enjoyed the work.
This was a first for me. While I have written works in the past, this was the first I had attempted to publish live, without a real plan in place beforehand other than a very rough outline. As I wrote the story, new ideas came along, old ideas were discarded, and a whole perspective change took place. It has been a learning experience for me, and one of the most important lessons I think I've learned from this is to make sure I have a solid outline, but more importantly, the world-building aspects need to be planned ahead of time, long before I put fingers to keyboard.
I may go back and edit some chapters to clarify or correct some story elements to make them more consistent, but this isn't a priority for me at the moment. Every story I write is a character driven story, and I always focus more on how people grow and change over the course of a story. There is much I can say about this, some of it in response to criticisms in the comments, but in the end, while some authors like to focus on spreadsheeting their way into a story, I just like to breathe life into the people who exist in the worlds I create.
You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
I do plan on writing a sequel to this, because Rick's tale is not yet done. He still has to find out the connection between the Harvesters and the breeding facilities (and I already have some ideas about the nature of this connection), and we haven't seen the last of many of the characters in the story, either. Once I have a solid story plan, I'll begin writing chapters. As was the case here, I will post on a schedule for consistency, well in advance to allow for any slowdowns and changes that may inevitably come up.
My next project is going to be something set in the multiverse, involving portals. I'm aware that there are already stories like this out there, but I have a few ideas I'd like to explore. In addition to this, I also plan on taking a book in the Alliance Chronicles Universe (the first book I published here was Book 2 in the series) and re-posting it here, in preparation for when I start writing Book 3 in the series (that particular series is intended to have 5 books in total, most of the planning work has already been done).
Once again, thanks for reading, and feel free to leave comments or questions.
