Silver's Freedom
“You wanna know ?! Ay?! “
“Wahahaha! “
“Yayahaha!”
Laughs echoed around the room. Brazenly and emboldened. Full of faces that were red from the ingestion of too much booze. Beset by arms that were heavy with muscle, smited with hands calloused from hard days work.
“Listen to me boy. All those things you’ve been taught. All of them .Are Kusugi.”
The man pronounced the word Kooh-Sue-Gi. He did so in the deep rumble of an accent that befit the tounge of one speaking the Valo language.
The word meant trash.
“They want you be to a farmer. A smith . They want you to settle in a place and raise it . And stay there , floating the days away , doing nothing but work , like a ant in a farm. “
The pirate lifted a large oval shaped bottle to his lips.
‘Glug. Glug . Glug . Glug.’
“A man wants adventure. A man needs freedom. To spread his wings. And those wings , should be filled , ( He said this as he hefted up four women next to him ) with beauties . As many as they can hold. "
“Your coin should be plentiful. “
A large pile of coins sat on the table . Filled high enough to be taller than me a boy of thirteen years.
The pirate gazed at it. With eyes filled with resolve , toughness , and wrinkles from hard living. In those eyes the spark of life roared like wildfire.
In one motion the pirate kicked the coin off the table. The gold splattered and scattered across in a frenzy of motion. The bar went quiet now, All eyes glued to the pirates every action.

“When we’re done here ,” he said turning his head, “ you’re all free to have this coin .” He waved his hand across the thrashed room. “For the troubles. “
He turned back to me.
“ You must have enough coin to do whatever you want and people forgive you for it. “The man let go of the woman in his arms, picked up the bottle and poured it heavily into a wooden mug. He raised it high.
“Lastly , you must have comrades . Ones that are with you to the death! “
All around the room mugs were raised , and a chorus echoed.
“To the death! “
I can’t be sure what took over me that day , maybe it was a God , maybe a Devil, but before I knew it, in the wreckage of a reveled bar, sitting in a hometown that had been ransacked by the marauders just moments earlier , I said the words.
“Can I join?”
It had been twenty years since I joined the ——— Pirates . The Captain who I would later learn was named Scar has taught me many things of life.
The wisdom of it led me to create my own crew , the Silver Pirates . We didn’t do too bad either , stacking gold high even in the worst ocean in the world. Suvers Sea.
And with my sheets still damp from the two lovely woman scattered across them. I’d say i didn’t too bad in the other departments as well.
Zipppp.
Zipppp.
I looked to the desk where light flashed slowly upon a mirror , accompanied by a vibrating zip.
Shuffling off the bed over bare thighs was a task best completed carefully. I did so with a graceful jump , rolled once , stood and picked up the mirror , pressing a small gem placed in its middle.
The mirror stopped flashing and instead revealed a face filled with a shaggy beard and a large jacket filled to the brim with daggers.
“Captain Scar , It’s been to long . “
“Bwahaha! You’re a captin yourself now Silver. Just call me Scar. “
“You’ll always be Captin to me Scar. “
“Yahahaha. Humble as ever my boy . Good to hear. Good to hear. Actually I need a favor . “
I looked at the mirror in surprise.
Never before had Scar needed a favor.
“Just say , and I’ll do all I can to solve the matter. “
“ I just lost my ship gambling with a bunch of rock spirits , could you send a ship to get me.”
I paused at that . Rock spirits gamble ? Then I shook it off. Scar would be doing something like gambling with rock spirits.
“Sure , Scar . Where are you ?“
“70, 23, 45, 19.”
I wrote down the longitude and latitude and looked up the area on the map, wasn’t too far from me from the look of it.
“Actually Scar , Instead of sending a ship I’ll come by , we can ride the coastal wind after and pick you up a new vessel at the Bucam Harbor. “
“Sounds like a plan John. I’ll see you soon. “
The mirror went dead, light falling out of its lens.
“Long John , Are We setting sail? “The voice that spoke was elegant, like words of silk drifting across the way.
I smiled at her use of my nickname . I had so many these days.
I looked over the tangle of limbs laying on the bed.
“We are darling. Summon the wind to help us as usual, it’s time to head out .”
