Chapter 12

The Departure . Pt 1

Scar picked up his large mug of beer and took heavy gulps. 'Glug. Glug Glug' , his mind stewing in anger like a well made soup. The appetizer, an annoyed crunching of his teeth.

He had just been robbed blind. No , no ! He couldn't just let that stand. And yet ! And yet….. he hadn’t attacked. Scar felt a nasty taste in his mouth. It’s cuz the kid had gotten in his head , saying he was Suver. He picked up his mug, there was no fucking Way ! That that! Was thee Suver.

He finished his mug in one cup and motioned for more.

“Sir . “

Scar looked up , as the dealer , Rivol he thought his name was, poured him more of his drink.

“I would like to inform you , you have been speaking aloud , and I can confirm that that is indeed Suver the Leviathan. “

Scar felt his stomach turn.

“It is? “

“It is. “ Rivol said as he finished filling the mug.

Scar gulped this one down halfway as well. His tanned cheeks gaining a bit of red.

“Well ya know what. “ Scar decided as the alcohol began sinking in.

Scar thought of the situation through inebriated thoughts and came to a inebriated solution.

“He looks human to me…….I bet , “ he finished this mug as well. “I bet , he’s like that for a reason. I bet ……” this time Scar looked over one of the new items he had acquired , a blade capable of cutting diamond. His eyes seeing a red settle upon the world.

“I bet , he can be cut. “

From inside of Scar’s large red jacket underneath a dagger coated with poison he felt a vibration. He reached in and pulled a mirror from his coat.

His spirit rose as he answered.

“Long John my boy , are you close? “

From the other side of the mirror a dashing young man of solid stature was smushed between two ladies' bosoms.

“We are Scar, with the wind on our side we are a half hour away, give or take. “

Scar nodded.

“Good my friend . Good . Tell me Silver , this ship you are on , how’s it's weaponry. “

Long John’s smiling face turned serious. “Solid as usual, scar. Why? “

Scar smiled , pulling on a chain that was attached to an important medallion. A medallion of a material that a price couldn’t be put on. A medallion that marked him A Pirate lord of the sea.

“There’s a snake that needs skinning. “

Six Windows of red gold were placed neatly on a sphere of solid copper. A slab of steel was layered over the copper but broke away in some places, most of which was near the bottom where the sphere opened up and became a furnace.

The furnace boomed and roared , kicking up flame and smoke at its bottom. I watched the flame roar to life again once more before the furnace doors slammed shut. For some reason it made me think of the gates of hell.

Clang!

With one finishing ping of sound, the flame calmed and the left most red window opened. A platform layed inside. With a whirrr it rolled out slowly, stopping just far enough to be reached by my hand.

On it lay a telescope.

Welp would ya look at that.

“Alright. Let’s go everybody. I’m bored! Let’s get back to the Ocean. “

My hand felt lighter as Lysa grabbed the telescope out of my fingers. The motion was so light I could barely feel it.

I frowned. Swordswoman are scary.

I watched Lysa raise the three foot dark oak frame to her eye and turn a few dials on its body. Her fingers crept to the back where they stumbled upon a small blue button.

She pressed it.

Vwum!

The telescope roared to life in one motion , changing from brown to red and sporting veins of liquid fire beneath its wood.

Lysa almost seemed like she was going to drop it , then she paused raising her eye back to the lens.

She turned the dials as she scanned the cave, “ I can see through walls. I can see…… people ? “

“It can sense heat within any distance through any obstacle. Impressive no ?” The one who welcomed me , and the leader of this smith , an old spirit with one wooden leg leaned heavily as he looked at the telescope.

“I made that beaut myself. “

Lysa looked down. “I didn’t see any tools , where did you make this. “

“In the furnace.”

“In the …..”

“Yea , we crawl up in there and bend the flame and rock and such. It’s a good time. “

Lysa dawned on that for a while then settled on, “thanks for the telescope. “

“No problem.”

Lysa raised the telescope back to her eye her fingers deftly playing with the dial. Pulling one back so far a click could be heard.

“Suver. I don’t think this is good. In fact this is very bad. “

Hmmm. “What’s going on. “

“There’s a boat headed to the ship way and it doesn’t seem like their friendly. In fact, I think they’d be the opposite. “

“Like rivals ? “ I asked.

Lysa paused. “No, not rivals , the opposite of friends are enemies.”

I shrugged. “Sometimes. “

Lysa’s face went through a wide array of emotions, something I was realizing she tended to do when she was speechless.

Next she’d be likely to face palm.

Ah there it is. I chuckled . I was quite good at this.

I reached into my pocket and picked up one of my new artifacts , a small pen with a red ruby on its top.

“Just point to where they are. “ I said as I focused mana into my eyes. I pointed somewhere to my left.

“Their in that general direction right? “ I asked gesturing to the wall.

Lysa dropped the telescope for a second then raised it again , She pointed to the upper middle of the left side of the chamber. Her eye fell on a small rock jutting out and she pointed at it.

“Right there just about. “

I laughed a little. “Perfect.”

Then I pressed the bottom of the pen.

And a laser went-

Puuuuuuum!
