Chapter 3: Sword Classes

With a lot of pondering Ean had finally allocated his stats ending up with the following table

Name:EanHP:160MP:200Level:75Class:NAEssence:Starter EssenceStrength:74Agility:90Vitality:60Desterity:88Wisdom:63Unallocated Points0

At first, Ean couldn’t feel any difference in his strength. The guard was a bit panicked, Ean figured out that it he acting like this due to him leaving his post without permission. Having pity on the fellow he let the guard go and headed towards a place to stay.

With no one to guide him Ean was confused where to head to, he then noticed that the adventure guild hadn’t given him any form of identification nor any timings for his sword classes but he left it as it is and thought of going there later to ask some questions.

After searching for a while, he soon found a hotel with a majestic sign board with neon linings. Everything was new to Ean making him a bit ecstatic about all the new possibilities. People surrounding him were giving glances often to this eye catching figure. In this new era beggars was almost nonexistent and jobs were always open.

After entering the building he was soon welcomed with a fountain with many exquisite designs. The walls were all light coloured and many lights that almost gave a sublime feeling to Ean. Heading towards the reception, he could see the man etched expression on his face.

Ean walked towards the reception while the man soon greeted him with a cheeky attitude. “What do you want? Beggars aren’t allowed here” said the receptionist with a cocky smile. Seeing this as a chance to get currencies such as silver and bronze, he slipped a gold coin on the counter.

The receptionist’s half open eyes soon widen as he saw the shiny yellow coloured object. Seeing this the receptionist was confronted with a few complex emotions. Loosening his face, he soon had a glowing aura around him. “Sorry for my misjudgement, which room would you like sir? A deluxe size room or a normal room?” as he spoke those words a greedy grin soon appeared on his face. “I’d like a normal one, is food included too?” asked Ean.

“Yes food is included with, food will be served at morning evening and night.” Said the receptionist. Ean was already very tired with these repetitive interactions with receptionist so without giving any importance to him he asked for change. The receptionist told him to wait for a sec and went through the backdoor while bringing back a bag of silvers and coppers.

Ean counted the money and saw a decrease in 70 coppers from his total budget. Ean received the card ‘667’ and headed towards that room. The convenience of elevators greatly pleased him and soon he headed to his room. For an average man the room seemed pretty average and homely but for Ean it seemed as if he were a noble.

Inside the room there was a bed and a television with one bathroom and kitchen. Having been exposed to so many wondrous things in a single day he couldn’t help but feel mentally exhausted. He planned on soon renting an apartment which seemed to be a common option for commoners.

Ean figured out doing numerous quests for the guild he would end up meeting Grun soon enough. He soon fell into the bed and was welcomed with a soft sensation. Soon the day ended with him sleeping soundly.

Having slept all day, Ean soon woke up with his thoughts a bit mingled up. He soon decided to practice his stance and posture which Grun himself said that he had perfected. Soon a message popped up without any indication which surprised him slighty.

You have learnt the skill ‘sword proficiency’

‘sword proficiency’ has evolved from amateur to rookie

‘sword proficiency’ has evolved from rookie to adept

You have learnt the skill ‘shield proficiency’

‘shield proficiency’ has evolved from amateur to rookie

‘shield proficiency’ has evolved from rookie to adept

‘shield proficiency’ has evolved from adept to master

A bunch of blue panels barged into his vision out of nowhere. After reading the all those panels suddenly another panel popped up.

Due to reaching rookie in ‘sword proficiency’ you can convert to ‘swordsman’ class, will you accept?

Yes

No

Without putting much thought into it Ean quickly pressed yes. Having relief that the panel spam had finally ended unexpectedly another panel similar to the previous one appeared.

Due to reaching rookie in ‘shield proficiency’ you can convert to ‘guardian’ class, will you accept?

Yes

No

After spending some time in thought about it, he quickly selected no and the barrage of panels had finally ended. Ean then quickly entered the bath as he hadn’t completed his sanitary needs during his journey. The bath had ended up making Ean a lot more presentable but the shaggy mess of hair still didn’t help him.

Taking a look at his room he noticed he had been presented new clothes without asking for them. Ean thought the people In the hotel must’ve figured out he is pretty influential so they wanted to gain his good side.

Soon he started to reevaluate the value of a single gold coin to cause this much change to everyone surrounding him. A thought popped into his mind of how Grun managed to get so many gold coins if he was living so long in the wilderness.

Being a curious guy Ean’s head was filled with numerous questions but he didn’t want to annoy anyone to just state his curiosity. Another blue panel appeared out of noweher which annoyed him to the extreme end.

You have 1 new message

He clicked on it and a wall of text appeared in front of him.

Your sword classes are going to be held at 8:30 – 9:30. If you’re wondering on how I managed to message you, it was due to you signing the contract we had given.

Ean remembered that he had seen something about being able to contact him at all times but he had never expected it to be given to him through the system. He continued his practice and soon headed to the guild for his sword class.

Entering the class he could see 4 people standing right in the middle of the court. If he were to say it seemed pretty similar to basketball courts he had seen in the books but a lot bigger. One of the individuals in the group was wearing armor which was superior in quality compared to the other people. The other individuals were standing shoulder to shoulder.

The guy had a small stubble was also senior in age. All the people seemingly had the age of 16, most likely noobs. All of them wore clothes identical to that of mages and priest. The most surprising part of all this was that none of them seem to carry a sword.

Ean thought they must be carrying it in their inventory so he didn’t bother much about it.

“Listen up fellas, in the wild the monsters don’t give a shit about your looks so you have to man up and fight them” said the guy with stubble to was most likely to be the instructor. Soon a sword appeared within the instructor’s hand which was enveloped in flames.

“A mage’s last card is always melee fighting when he has no choice in close range, only fools think of ignoring this fact and continue on their ways. Great leader like Azam who is one of the people who stands in the front lines himself agrees with the importance of melee spells for a mage. If you don’t want your arses to be kicked then you better learn this all up” the instructors said with a stern look on his face as if were to send troops onto the battlefield.

“You maggots want to learn this art but you better know that this is a very hard art to learn but could be a life saver in the future” the instructor emphasized how tedious it was to use a sword but in the eyes of Ean the guy himself didn’t seem skilled within this criteria.

The instructor soon threw 4 items that seemed to be a bunch of metal rods to all four of them. “These are items called suppressors, to not allow any unfairness in levels this will take your percentage of every stat out of the total stats. It will then make your max stats 20 and redistribute them depending on how you spread your stats. Is that clear?” “YES SIR!” an immediate reply came from the 3 of them; Ean quickly caught on the norms of the training with his fast reaction time and mentality and quickly synchronized his voice too.

Looking at the surrounding people who put the metal rods on their necks Ean also followed them. Ean started to feel weaker as the suppressor did its job. “Now take out your swords, I want to see how you all would fare against each other” said the instructor while pulling his head upwards. Two of the people took out 2 semi transparent swords which were of the wind element. The other guy took out a small cylindrical object which soon had a beam of laser erupting from it.

Everyone in the area all looked amusingly at the figure. “A light mage? I never expected that” said the wide eye instructor. Ean soon took out his shield and sword while everyone looked at disdain at him but no one voiced his opinion.

“Okay, you and that shield guy will spar with each other” said the instructor while not giving any importance to them. The 2 wind elemental people started to snicker at the demise of Ean. Light mages were known for their fast agility and fast reaction which seemed to be an innate feature of them.

Consider that with the buffs that light mages were most superior in they were an individual to be feared in 1v1 battles. The light mage guy smirked at this simply thinking Ean as a noob since no veteran was stupid enough to stick with a sword.

The instructor knew that Ean was not exactly a newbie as he could figure out from the quality of his weapons but on second thought they might just be due to him having an influential background. The instructor soon announced the beginning and the light mage started to cast something on himself.

He kept mumbling again and again as Ean stood as his position. Soon with a sudden burst of speed he headed towards Ean. Ean swiftly moved his shield in front of him which in return faced the clash of the light saber. Light mage soon tried to get out of his range but Ean followed him, soon hitting him with the sword’s pummel on his temples.

Unexpectedly the person was still standing straight except his footsteps had gotten a bit dizzy and his eyes somewhat closed. Ean considered him still standing due to the buffs he had done on himself. Expertly taking advantage of his dizziness he used his shield to push him back and then did a low sweep with his leg.

The man instantly fell down; as he regained his focus as he was greeted with a cold blade on his neck. “Are we done yet?” asked Ean while everyone watched in awe as the spar finally ended.
