CHAPTER 1

“She should have been around here,” Kurai sighed.

He has searched for so long, and yet, he failed to find her. He did find many clues, but they only led him to what she has already done, and where she has already been. From how she is it seemed certain she did not have any destination or goal in mind, she simply travelled around blindly to help any she could, and so estimating where she would be and when is near impossible.

All Kurai could do is to try his best to predict her and reach where she is headed before her, but the chances of success were very slim. She is very easily distracted and might just go somewhere entirely different from her initial destination, or she might rush there at full speed, in which case Kurai could only hope he gets there before she even departs.

As for now, he travelled on a dirt path through a forest. A refreshing breeze blew through the trees, cold, but not too much. The forests were sure to be housing monsters, but monsters usually avoided these paths, making the chances of being attacked very low, but not enough to be ignored.

As Kurai moved ahead, deep in his thoughts, he heard a rustling sound from one of the bushes to his right, not very far from him. He smiled wryly and kept walking, not paying any mind to the rustling. After a few moments he heard a similar sound to his left, but he didn't sense anyone cross the road.

After walking for another few moments he stopped beside a fairly large tree and sat down beside it, resting his back and head on the tree’s trunk. After placing his hat to the side he pulled out a small green hexagonal box from one of his coat’s pockets and set it down beside him.

“I really planned to save this box of chocolates, but I guess eating them is better than letting them be wasted,” Kurai sighed. He picked one of the circular chocolates and placed it in his mouth, slowly chewing on it. There were about fifty in the box. He doubted if eating all of them would be a good idea, but shrugged and ate one more before closing his eyes and resting.

A few moments after he closed his eyes he felt someone’s presence close to him, but decided to not react. After another moment a small finger poked his cheek, but he still didn’t react. He heard three sounds as someone stuffed three of the chocolates in their mouth, followed by a long moment of silence and no movement. After some time he felt some weight press against his side, as someone lied beside him and rested their body against him.

“Okay, no, this is just not alright at all,” Kurai sighed. He heard a low yelp as the someone realized he is awake. "Don’t even try to run.” Kurai commanded as he grabbed one of her hands. “Kesshō, don’t, you can eat as many chocolates as you want.” He offered the box to her.

The girl sitting in front of him possessed, mostly reddish-pink hair, with several streaks of black hair and white hair, reaching till her knees. She wore a pink colored full sleeved long coat with flame and bird patterns in lighter pink glitters, a black full sleeved shirt inside the coat with black pants. The pants and shirt didn't have any designs, except a symbol of two crossed swords on her chest.

She looked at him with her bright eyes, the left one pink, slightly more reddish than her hair, and her right eye being blue, very similar to Kurai’s. Three pink Blood Wolf tails were barely visible behind her, alongside ger nine phoenix tails, pinkish-orange in color, and having a tendril-like shape. Two wolf ears were present on top of her head, completely straight in alarm, and two mainly light pink phoenix ears, with the ends of each covered in colorful small feathers, were visible on the side of her head, most covered by her messy and long hair.

Hesitantly sitting ack down she took the box from his hand and slowly ate the chocolates. "Not different from how I remember at all." Kurai sighed, gently patting her head as she stuffed the chocolates in her mouth. “I really wonder how you survived all by yourself for this long but never mind that, just how strong have you gotten?"

“Do you have any destination in mind?” Kurai questioned her. Kesshō looked up at him for a few moments before she shook her head. 'Any goal?” She again shook her head before eating another chocolate. "Then why don’t you come along with me?” Kurai offered. “We can help a lot of people together. My goal is to bring peace and harmony to this world, and I know the best way to do it. That being said, I doubt I can do it all by myself, so are you willing to help?”

Kesshō thought deeply as she slowly tucked the chocolates into her mouth. After much consideration she gave a slight, hesitant nod, being pulled closer by Kurai right as she did. Embracing her he gently patted her head.

“Know one thing, no matter what, I am not letting anyone hurt you as long as I am alive," Kurai reassured. Hearing that she thought for a moment before burying her face in his clothes and setting the box of chocolates aside. "So, how about moving ahead right away?” Kurai offered.

Kesshō nodded enthusiastically and instantly got up, after picking the box of chocolates. Getting up as well Kurai gestured her to follow, leading her through the forest to his destination.

Her stats are certainly not ready for that fight, but stats can’t tell if someone can win a fight or not. I doubt they are accurate anyways, and afterall, in the end, it all comes down to how they use what they have, Kurai sighed as he glanced at Kesshō.
