24-Divinities

In the dark abyss of space, two humanoid figures soared through the void.

"So, where are we headed?" asked one of the figures.

"What do you mean 'we'? Don't you have work to do?" the other figure replied.

"Nope, I already completed my 27-year shift. 'They' gave me some free time," the first figure responded with a smug grin.

"Lucky bastard. I still have 12 years left until the end of my shift," the second figure sighed.

"You still haven't answered my question. Where are we going?" the first figure pressed.

"Sector Y4259," the second figure replied.

"That barren place? I thought there were no cultivators there, only mortals," the first figure remarked.

"That was the case until recently. According to the divinities in the fate section, a cultivator appeared in that sector several years ago, seemingly out of nowhere. Due to the vastness of the God-head's domain, it went unnoticed. But now, that cultivator has taken on another disciple until reaching the ascension stage," the second figure explained.

"I see. So, we're going to supervise the disciple's ascension," the first figure concluded.

This narrative has been purloined without the author's approval. Report any appearances on Amazon.

"Correct," the second figure confirmed.

"And what if the disciple fails?" the first figure inquired.

"We'll follow the standard procedure and report it to the divinity of the death section to take the individual's soul immediately," the second figure replied. "Anyway, we must hurry."

"Emma, please reconsider your decision. If something goes wrong during your ascension, I won't be able to help you. If you can just wait a few years, I'll have the strength to protect you," I said, my voice filled with worry.

But Emma was resolute. "I've already made up my mind, Steve. Besides, I can't rely on you every time. You've helped me a lot, and I love you for that. But please, let me do this for myself."

Hearing her words, I couldn't bring myself to argue with her. Emma knew how to tug at my heartstrings. And truthfully, she had a strong foundation in cultivation, so there was little to fear.

On the day of her ascension, I watched as Emma soared up into the sky, smiling at me. But I wasn't looking at her. My eyes were fixed on the two figures that appeared behind her.

I sighed worriedly as I recognized the individuals behind Emma. In my previous life, I had heard a lot of people talking about them. They were what was called divinities, contrary to what many believed, they were not gods. Rather, they were more like workers that served the universe. They came in different shapes and forms, but most importantly, they were divide into three sections: Fate, Death, and Heaven. The divinities in the Fate section ensured that everything followed the natural order, while the divinities in the Death section managed the dead. The divinities in the Heaven section managed everything that had something to do with cultivators. And naturally, the two individuals behind Emma were from the Heaven section. They came to supervise Emma's ascension, I sighed as I prayed that everything will go well.
