Wong's apartment.
The front door opened and Wong staggered in. It didn't take long for him to drop to his knees in his bedroom and clutched his body in cold. Even though his wound somewhat had miraculously disappeared when he leveled up, it seemed that wasn't the case with the disease.
Wong fell to the floor, writhing in agony, drenched in sweat. He began to shake uncontrollably with chills but still managed to use the last bit of his stamina and pawed one hand up to the bed, ripped the blanket and sheets off it, and dragged them down over him. He huddled under them, trembling violently, face pale, eyes black and sunken, teeth chattering.
Suddenly, his eyes rolled up into the back of his head and he passed out. Under the lids, his eyes flickered rapidly.
When Sum Ting Wong awoke, the sunlight was streaming through his window. He hadn't moved from the position he collapsed into on the floor and he realized that he honestly had no idea how long he was asleep and awake for. His phone was dead and he didn't have any other clock in his room. He believed it had been 10 or 11 hours, but something that he knew for, he didn't have class and didn't have to come to his job anymore, but there was some weird feeling in his body.
Expectantly, Wong opened his attributes screen to check what was wrong with his body.

His eyes widened, even though he only had been afflicted by common cold level 3 and influenza level 2, which he thought at first wasn't a fatal illness, it still reduced his health regen to -2.1.
At first, he was glad because the blue screen also acted as his personal assistant, telling him about his health condition which now had almost got reduced by half. And suddenly he felt a chill in his heart, when he imagined what would happen to him if he didn't have this attributes screen to tell about his condition...
But as he thought that, the worst possibility crossed Wong's mind as he noticed that his health would be 0 in the next 20 hours, "Don't tell me... I am dying!?"
His stomach grumbled, but he ignored it. His life was much more important than going without a meal for a few hours.
While thinking that he should go to seek for medical help, Wong remembered that when he received Cook as his class, he gained a ton of bonuses in his stats, so with that in mind, he resolved to put everything on Cook.
Congratulations! You have become a Cook 2!

Just as he guessed, he had to spend 3 Cp to increase Cook from rank 2 to rank 3, and without any hesitation, Wong put the last 3 Cp.
Congratulations! You have become a Cook 3!

Wong nodded in amazement. Even though the health bonus that he received got cut by half, it seemed like after reaching a certain rank, all skills that he received from Cook also got increased by 1.
But that wasn't important right now, even in his current condition, he still had -1.1 health regen.
In a panic mode, Wong put 2 Sp into Nutritional Cooking and swiftly increasing it to level 4.
Congratulations! Nutritional Cooking is now level 3!
Congratulations! You have earned 1 AP.

Sitting up, Wong went to his attributes screen only to find he didn't know which attributes that raised his health, End or Vit?
Shaking his head, Wong decided to first put one AP he had earned into an Endurance stat. As he watched, the extra point in Endurance, watching closely he saw that the End got him 7 points of health and 0.3 of health regen, but only 0.01 stamina regen and no increase in stamina. So End was more health-based, while Vit focused on Stamina?
When it came down to it, Wong supposed he would probably prefer to buffer up his Vitality then. But for now, Increasing the maximum value of his health and health regen was more important than anything else. So he put the last AP into End.

Seeing his health regen had been stabilized, Wong climbed onto his bed and collapsed. Looking up at the ceiling, as long as he could remember this was by far the most dangerous thing that had ever happened to him. Although he was lucky enough to have points that he could use raise his health right now, it would be dangerous if the affliction kept progressing.
But for now...
Wong was tired and needed to rest and steady his nerve before everything else.
*****
Wong's eyes snapped open. For a moment, he felt dizzy as if he was going through a high-altitude flight. But as he took a sharp breath and oriented himself, he seemed to feel better. Carefully he stretched his legs, took a few deep breaths.
Definitely felt better.
Relieved, he threw aside the blanket and sheets and opened his attributes screen.
Wong couldn't help grinning slightly. His health had been increased by a ton and both of his affliction had been reduced to level 2 common cold and level 1 influenza.
Knowing this, the first thing that came to Wong's mind was.... laundry, a mountain of dirty laundry piling up at the corner of his room, and then refilling his empty fridge... And maybe getting some flu and cold medicine.
Snorting, Wong looked to his windows and found the sunlight was no more. This... was probably not the best time to do some laundry.
It took another rumbling in his stomach to actually made Wong realized that he hadn't eaten anything since yesterday.
Rubbing his stomach, he could've just use level 2 Fast Food, which now would give him twice of the usual amount.
Fast Food (Level 2): Focusing your Mana, you create two loaves of bread, two bowl worth of stew, a pound of cheese, four apples, four beef jerky and 3 litres of water, on the ground or in containers within range. The food is bland but nourishing and spoils if uneaten after 24 hours. The water is clean and doesn't go bad.
Vocal: Not registered.
Somatic: Not registered.
Cost: 10 Mana.
Do you want to use Fast Food 2?
>Yes >No
Which he supposed was pretty good... except for the fact that increasing Fast Food level didn't improve its taste at all.
Sighing, Wong knew he had made some sort of resolution to not spend a single penny on food expense, but right now, he was craving for a decent meal, anything, as long as they had some taste.
And after everything that he had been through, he thought he deserved to reward himself with a burger... and maybe ice cream and beer.
Gulping down, not really seeing any reason to postpone his journey, Wong started walking, trying to see what restaurant still open.
About 20 minutes later, Wong was sitting in a fast food restaurant, exploring his screen thoughtfully, a tray of food was lying in front of him. Two girls around his age were looking at him from the other side, whispering to each other.
Deep in his heart, Wong wanted to believe that both of them were talking about what kind of pick up line that they should use, or something like that. Then again, Wong already knew the reason why.
After having this blue screen for a week, he believed other people couldn't see the screen, and in their perspective right now, Wong was waving his finger through the air as if something was wrong with him.
But, Wong just ignored their giggling and continued staring at the status screen, frowning.
The rift between reality has been breached, please subjugates 10 invaders (goblins) in your surrounding area. 8/10.
It seemed that while Wong was sleeping, 7 more invaders or 'goblins' had been killed by the others. Yes. There were others besides him that knew the existence of those goblins and the status screen, not to mention in they were in his surrounding area, which he supposed, was great.
But then again, this only made more question spinning in Wong's mind.
First, just how big his surrounding area was? A whole block? A whole city? A whole country?
Second of all, how did he contact them? and what should he say?
And lastly, why the hell they gave Wong chocolate ice cream and not the vanilla one? Just how the hell someone could mess up chocolate with vanilla ice cream?
With a sigh, noticing that his ice cream had started to melt, Wong finally closed his screen and started nibbling on his hamburger.
Congratulations! You have learned a new recipe!
