Scene One ─ The Belden Base Pt.5

  “Three, two, action!”

As soon as the drill instructor gave the call, Gadina did not hesitate on sprinting towards the girl standing across from her. She grabbed her by the waist, then threw her on the mat on the floor. “Sorry, was that too overboard?” She held her hand out for the person on the ground.

The girl shook her head, held onto Gadina to pull herself up.

  “You’re too good,” She said.

“Honestly, I don’t think we should be this serious,” Gadina expressed, then loosened up her protective headgear. She was just like her opponent, who had never taken any regular combat training courses. However, the thing about combat is that it is just fighting with specific techniques, and she had fought before.

Gadina had fought a LOT before.

“Now, exchange with the other person!” The instructor yelled.

“Bring it on, Sally,” Gadina opened up her arms. “Don’t worry, you won’t hurt me.”

She moved a leg a little bit further behind, in order to stabilize herself.

  “Start!” The instructor ordered.

Gadina stared at Sally, watching the girl throw herself over in a strange position. She jumped… then pulled on her waistband, and fell onto the ground.

“Not that easy, eh?” She said, pulling Sally back to her feet.

The pair were in the indoor range with other trainees, taking a combat course. Although the Chaser’s enemy wasn’t humans, basically combat does benefit cardiovascular endurance, and would also improve their flexibility and response; preparing them well enough before learning how to ‘wield shells.’

Sally had just stood up when Gadina heard some people wolf-whistling to their direction. She turned around, and saw some trainees looking at her in a weird way.

  Dumbasses.

  She thought to herself.

S.D.A’s protocol for recruitment had always prioritized men. Therefore, the sex ratio was pretty imbalanced. This means that most of the girls volunteered, and that the male trainees standing in front of them were mostly forced to come here.

  Useless bunch of craps.

Gadina laughed sarcastically. Everyone knows what the Chasers do for Sheer, but to speak about coming forward, no one really dares to do that. This is why the S.D.A decided to recruit compulsorily.

Thankfully, the S.D.A treated everyone, no matter the gender, equally. This is also why Gadina decided to join them. Since women were the minorities here, they were more worshiped than ever.

Men are just some simple-minded creatures.

  She thought.

  As long as they…

“Gadina,” Sally’s panicked voice called out to her.

  “Your…clothes.” The girl continued on.

  Gadina looked down.

  “Oh…”

She realized that when her pants were pulled down a bit by Sally earlier, her initially tucked-in shirt had now become loose.

  “Gadina, let me help—”

Sally inched closer, but before she could reach out, Gadina had spun around.

  “Hey!”

She didn’t tuck her shirt back in. Instead, she shouted towards the men staring at her.

“Is this what you want?” She deliberately pulled the hem of her shirt up.

The young trainees started a ruckus, but some of them couldn’t help but turn away. Gadina looked at those who were practically drooling.

“What’s up? Want me to lift it a little bit more?” She smiled seductively. Unsure of why, she quite enjoyed the attention she was getting from them, even though most of it was filled with filthy thoughts.

That kind of feeling was very different from what she experienced before. The men from the underground only have desire for the women’s body. However, to them, women were just a tool to satisfy their needs; and normally they could do whatever they want. But here, the situation was different. The trainees were attracted to her, getting seduced by her, but no one could try anything on her.

Maybe because it was something to do with her background, Gadina hated how filthy and rude men are, and hated their foul minds. If there was a chance for her to wrap the guys around her fingers, to her it would be a sort of revenge.

This kind of situation rarely happened in the unsystematized, but in the S.D.A, she felt like she could dominate the things around her just by the natural-born charisma of a female. Some specific times, she even felt like she was the queen.

“Cadet!” The instructor standing in front of them suddenly shouted.

“Where do you think you are now?” He asked, directing the question to Gadina, who was standing in the middle of the crowd.

The girl stood straight, but did not speak.

  Tsk…

  She muttered under her breath.

The S.D.A’s protocol certainly has disadvantages, and this is one of them.

“Speak up, cadet,” the instructor bellowed, starting towards Gadina.

“Did I train you to wear your shirt like this?” He asked, staring deadly at the girl.

  “No, sir.” Gadina answered.

“Then fix yourself up!” The instructor ordered. “And the fact that you’re a female. Would you wanna get accused of harassment by others?”

They’re the ones who are harassing me.

Gadina complained in her head, but did not say that out loud.

  “Do you understand, cadet?”

“Yes, sir.” Gadina pulled her pants back to the original place, still standing straight.

“At ease,” the instructor then said. “Twenty push-ups at the sides, now.”

“Wha…” Gadina’s eyes widened, but she quickly suppressed her feelings.

“Yes, sir!” The girl answered. Having no choice, she walked away from the group. Some laughter came from the crowd, and so she turned back and sent them daggers.

As if you dimwits are gonna survive longer than I will.

  She told herself.
