Light crumbled off the axe and fell to the floor, dissipating when the pieces hit the stone. It all fell away until only a thin layer was left covering the weapon and another prompt appeared in front of him.
[3/3 requirements for Naming complete. Would you like to Name this Armament now?]
[Yes/No]
He mentally hit Yes, wondering what changes he would see in his trusty companion when the light fully faded.
[A weapon's Name influences the end result, shaping its Tier Bonuses. The more closely aligned the Name to its Nature, the more its Power can be focused]
[You may now speak this Armament's Name]
This was something that had been bouncing around in the back of his head ever since he saw that his axe had the potential to be Named. He wasn't the best at naming things, so there was no way he could've come up with something on the spot. He had thought about various mythologies and phrases but finding out that the closed the Name was to what his weapon did could improve whatever boost it got from its Name ruled out most of them since Mythological beings and events tended to have a lot associated with them. Instead, he settled on using Latin, at least what little he remembered of it from games he had played and shows he had watched. Using the dead language would allow him to describe the axe more accurately than any legendary name that came with pages and pages of context.
"Pyrae Mortalis."
He spoke. Mortalis for the immortal Lich who's existence it had brought to an end and Pyrae for the fire it wielded to do so. Combined it meant Pyre of the Dead, which carried the dual meaning of setting it's enemies ablaze and it being the funeral pure for the foes who's bones it had absorbed.
He thought the Name fit, and he knew he wasn't coming up with anything better so he had spoke. After the words left his mouth, the shell around his weapon flashed brightly before crumbling off like the rest of it had, revealing his transformed axe.
It was larger, bordering on unwieldy to be used in one hand, but he knew that with his enhanced Strength and control it wouldn't be a problem for him. The entire weapon was obsidian black now, but currents of red ebbed and flowed underneath it's surface, just waiting to be released. There were less runes along the axe head now and they were simpler, but they contained a feeling of might that was almost oppressive to look at and wasn't there before. The tattered cloth covering the handle was now pristine, and when he grabbed it to pick the weapon up it made the weapon feel as if it were melded to his hand and an extension of his arm.

Smiling, he used [Analyze] on it to get a sense of the full transformation it had just gone through.
[Pyrae Mortalis
Tier III (IV) Hafted Weapon
Titles: First Relic of Earth
A Bone Axe made from the [Lesser Skeletal Armament] Trait and won in its owner's first battle. It has served them ever since, being as much a part of their Path as the Spirits they call on. It has feasted on the bones of the foes who's lives it has reaped, evolving into the First Named Armament of Earth and reaching Relic Status due to it's unique powers and synergistic bond with its owner.
Damage: +34-42 -> 55-64 slashing
Additional Properties:
- -NEW- SOULBOUND: This Armament grows with and may only be used by its Soulbound owner. Its nature is affected by its owner's Path, Traits and Personality
- +25-31 -> 40-47 fire damage
- Passive: The Armament passively draws in energy to boost itself, the higher the ambient energies the more powerful the axe becomes. The axe stores the energies absorbed, up to a limit, and uses them to enhance itself when needed
- Passive: The Armament generates a small -> moderate amount of Fire Mana that is absorbed by its other passive
Tier I: Can repair and upgrade itself through absorbing inanimate bone it is in contact with
Tier II: Improve the effect of any Spirits used -on this weapon-> whilst holding this weapon by 1 -> 2 Levels
-NEW- Tier III: Improve the passive effect and free uses of any Merged Spirits whilst holding this weapon by 2 Levels
-NEW- Tier IV: You may expel and control any Fire Mana generated by this weapon]
Putting aside the fact that it somehow had a Title for now, it was more than he could've hoped for. It had improved all around, and not just by a small amount either. Just the extra damage alone made him very happy, though everything else was amazing too. Its generation Passive had improved, which would feed into its other Passive which meant that had gotten better as well, not to mention the new Soulbound Property it had. The weapon would continue to grow along with him, as well as when it consumed the bones of his fallen foes, and it would do so in a way complimentary to his own powers.
Its second Tier Bonus has more than doubled in Power, giving twice the effective Levels whilst applying to all Spirits he used whilst holding the axe, not just the ones he used on his weapon. This would grant him greater survivability and even more damage. The third Tier Bonus was immensely powerful, giving him what amounted to 4 extra Lifeforce per day and a semi permanent buff to his combat strength. It would also get much better when he Merged with a second Spirit and that benefited from the new bonus as well.
But it was the last one that intrigued him the most. It promised to give him control over a limited amount of Fire Mana. Sure, using any for anything other the enhancing his weapon took away from his close range threat, but it made up for that fact by having the potential to give him a ranged option, as well as the possible future flexibility of fire spells if his Path ever allowed him to learn any.
Finally, he turned back to the weapons Title and used [Analyze] on it. He already had an idea what it did, but it would be nice to confirm it.

+25% growth
+1 to effective Tier of Armament]
He had expected the +1 to it's effective Tier when he saw that it counted as a Tier IV weapon but the +25% to growth was phenomenal. He was now bound to this weapon, so any benefits it got had an even greater impact on him. It might even outpace his own growth with how things were looking, though he wouldn't complain if that happened. Giving it a test swing, a wide grin split his face. He couldn't wait to try it out.
