He left his axe to do its work, collapsing away from the corpse of the bear with the last of his strength. The duration on his [Spirit of Death] Power had run out, and without it he was useless. Hopefully slaying the beast had given him at least 1 Level and the 5 Free Attribute Points that came along with it. He had seen the System do some pretty miraculous things, so he was banking on some extra points in Vitality setting him on the path to recovery.
Ignoring the pain he was in, he opened his notifications and began to skim through them, searching for anything that could help him in his current predicament.
[Spirit of Death I had Levelled Up!
It has reached Level 4.
30% bonus damage has increased to 40%]
He would've smiled reading that had he not been urgently looking for a way to fix the damage to his spine. Extra Damage through his main ability was great, but he was more concerned with a more permanent way to be able to move.
[For delivering force over 5 times what is possible with your Strength Attribute you have earned the Title: Power Beyond Limits]
[For controlling force over 5 times what is possible with your Strength Attribute you have earned the Title: Control Beyond Limits]
His head on clash against the bear had apparently been recognised by the System itself, but be their names and how he got them they wouldn't be of help to him. He would read them later and hope that they could if nothing else came up, but for now he moved on.
[Spirit of Death I had Levelled Up!
It has reached Level 5.
40% bonus damage has increased to 50%]
[Spirit of Death I had Levelled Up!
It has reached Level 6.
50% bonus damage has increased to 60%]
[You have learned the Skill Spirit Shaping I]
[For merging with a Spirit without a Trait or outside assistance you have earned the Title: Spiritual Conduit]
More Levels, a new Skill and another Title were amazing all round improvements. And the fact that Traits were mentioned for the first time outside of his Status was interesting, but again he would circle back to these later. Hopefully after he fixed his mobility.
[Level Up!
You have reached Level 10.
You have 5 Free Attributes to assign.]
This was it! He immediately slammed all 5 points into Vitality and felt it get to work. Warmth rushed through him and went towards his injuries. From what he understood, increases to your current HP always went towards the most serious injuries first, so he grinned when he felt the warmth along his spine. It was working! He was going to be alright!
It mended the cracks in the bone, but that's where it stopped. It didn't even touch the shards that were littered down his back or attempt to replace any of the vertebrae that were now missing, before it moved on to other things. Clearly it hadn't all been used if it was fixing other parts of him, so why had it stopped?
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Slowly, realisation came to him. It seemed their were limits to what restoring HP could do. His scars hadn't vanished despite the hundreds of Health he had gained, and he thought that it made sense that people's arms wouldn't regrow just from an increase to the bodies ability to survive. It might be able to once the values got much larger, but until he made it there he was stuck with any major injuries that he was inflicted with. Less hopeful now, he turned back to his notifications.
[For reaching Level 10 through experience only gained from Undead you have earned the Title: Undead Slayer]
Another useless sounding Title. Sure, he would probably be grateful to have it if he got to fighting the lich, but it would never see use until he could actually get to where the dark ritual was being performed.
He saw that there was only one notification left and attempted to cross his fingers, only to realise that he couldn't even do that. Blinking back tears of frustration, he willed open the last icon.
[You have reached Level 10. Class selection available.]
Maybe this was what he had been searching for. Frantically, he tried to summon the options he had and, to his relief, he succeeded. They appeared in a massive list, and Liam took the time to read through each of them. If one of them held the key to fixing his condition, then he would find it.

He read them over, focusing his analysis on what would help the most instead of which was the most powerful, before he realised that they were one and the same. When you compared them all, one answer was obviously better than all the rest, the System itself even saying so.
Hoping for the best, he selected [Spiritual Conduit] and his vision faded to black.
