“Come on! Attack the left one!” a big, muscular man screams at the top of his lungs. His eyes follow the man he had ordered to attack closely. But he panics as something comes toward him.
Swash—!
A goblin slashes with a short sword identical to mine. But his is covered in blood, presumably from his victims.
The goblin nearly connects with the big man who was concentrating on commanding his fellow people. However, he manages to swing his heavy broadsword and block the goblin’s attack just in time.
I observe the fight with a grin. This guy isn’t a complete newbie with a sword. He is pretty good, and with his build, I don’t think these goblins would be a problem to him.
I continue to observe the fight from behind a tree, scouting the area to collect intel. Though, it’s probably useless to gather intel since I’m way too strong. But after that goblin’s sneak attack, I have become warier of my surroundings. I don’t want to die because I get too cocky; that’s a loser’s death.
Six goblins and ten humans, if my grade school math has taught me anything. So it seems count that the goblins are at a disadvantage. But numbers don’t tell the whole truth.
I wasn’t observing the fight for long, but I gathered that the only one capable of killing these goblins is that muscular man. The nine others are pretty much cannon fodder.
And with a quick recount, it’s a six versus one. Big brain!
So forget what I said before. This man is not going to kill all the goblins by himself. And even if he miraculously did, twenty-one more will just follow. There is no mercy in this tutorial. That’s what it’s designed for.
But if he can command the others well enough and maybe sacrifice a few… I think at least some of these people will be able to survive the tutorial.
Though, that flimsy guy… I change my focus to the one the muscular man had commanded to attack.
“Okay!” he answers the command and sprints toward a goblin that had strayed from its pack.
It’s a one versus one. No one can help him because the five other goblins are attacking his teammates, and until they kill them, he has to hold out.
Though, if I could bet on this fight, I would bet on the goblin. Goblins only have slightly higher stats than a human, so in that regard, it’s already an unfair fight. However, goblins are pretty stupid. The only thing they breathe for is blood and massacre. So humans should be able to take advantage of that using our more developed brains. And that’s balancing the odds a bit.
But looking at this flimsy man—
Swash—!
The man slashes at the goblin’s neck, but the goblin reacts fast and blocks his attack.
“What!” he yells.
Surprised at how fast the goblin reacted, he tries stepping back, but the goblin doesn’t stop its attack. It dashes toward him with a wicked grin.
I knew this would happen. I quietly watch the goblin attack the man.

Swash—!
Their weapons clash once again, but this time it’s the flimsy guy who block the attack.
Surprisingly, he survives another round. But looking at him, it seems like he has figured out that his death is inevitable.
He freezes in motion at the sheer power the goblin fights with. I don’t think he expected it to be this strong. But it’s too late to regret his poor decision now.
Skreee—!
An ear-piercing screech comes from the goblin. It grins demonically while drooling over its next meal. It knows its prey is too scared even to defend itself, so it’s already prepared to bury its fangs into the human’s meat.
Are you even worth saving? I think while watching the nature documentary in front of me. I know it sounds a bit inhuman to believe that. Suppose you are not strong enough to survive the tutorial. You will not survive in the real world. So ending his life here might not be the worst idea. For his own sake, that is.
“Run! Fast!” his leader, the muscular man, yells after he looks over his shoulder to see how his comrade is doing.
His voice is filled with guilt. He can only look to his side and watch his comrade die a gruesome death.
That’s the life of a leader. I catch the leader’s gaze as he frantically looks for a way to save his comrade.
But don’t regret it. You were the one who sent him to his death. He’s a weakling, and he will only hold you and your team back. That’s what we call a disposable pawn where I come from.
Our eyes lock. It seems like he is trying to communicate something to me.
Why does he look at me like that? But it doesn’t take me long to figure out what he wants as I look down at my sword.
Ah! My sword is dripping blood from the goblin I killed before. So he probably thinks I’m able to kill them. That’s a bit awkward. Now I can’t stand here doing nothing. From his point of view, I’m just someone who has come to help.
“Ahhh!” I groan and start sprinting to the helpless man fighting against the goblin.
To be honest, if not for that man’s gaze, I wouldn’t have helped his comrade. But since I caught his attention, doing nothing would’ve be a problem in the future. I planned to kill the goblin after it was done with that guy, but here I am—
Thunk—!

Doing other people’s work! Though you could say, it’s my work too since I’m also doing the tutorial. But at least I’m not going around and nearly getting myself killed. Let’s not dwell on that statement too much.
I need to be done with this tutorial today, so I have to pick up the pace. I can’t wait for the goblins to kill the majority of the people. That’s just a waste of time. So I have to get used to saving people in need.
“Huh?” A crowd of people express confusion in harmony with each other.
I can feel their stares on my back as I pull out my weapon from the goblin’s forehead. The corpse promptly falls to the ground and disperses into a white fog. The only thing that remains is a useless short sword that it had dropped upon its death. But I ignore it and turn around to face the stares.
“Hello, how’s your day doing so far?” I say and gently smile. They take a step back as I talk, almost frightened.
Not because of the goblins trying to attack them. The goblins have pulled themselves from the battle with the big guy and are now facing me, presumably because I’m more of a threat to them.
But as I look down at my sword again… It’s completely covered in thick blood, making the otherwise friendly smile look more sinister.
“Haha…” I try to laugh, but it comes off more awkward than I want.
Please, someone, save me! I’m not good in these situations. I am a solo player in the first place. I beg the higher beings for help. And to my surprise, they actually hear my prayers.
“Let’s not relax now! There are still five goblins left!” the leader shouts, pointing his sword at the five-pack of goblins that was left.
However, the goblins don’t care about the group the big man leads. They have all their attention on me, and they prepare to attack me all at once.
“Um, interesting.” I sigh.
But it’s not so bad. If they all attack me at once, that just means I don’t have to come at them myself. And it would spare me some stamina.
The goblins rush toward me.
“Getaway fast—”
Thunk—!
The big man tries to warn me as he had seen the goblins running at me. But he was too late.
