Chapter 4 Town meeting

Chapter 4 Town meeting

Chapter 4

Old farm Patrick heard her before they could see her. Henry and he were standing watch over the property as the night went on, waiting for the killer that he'd seen just last night. Patrick turned his head in the girl's direction and was about to call out for her to stop when Henry left his spot next to him and took off toward the crying girl. When he could see her, he shouted out "Stop you fool, the killer could be baiting her right to us"

Henry did not stop running to the girl now they could make out that it was Clair, His friend Harrison's daughter. Henry shouted, "What happened? Where are your sisters and your dad?" Henry finished as he got within arm's reach of Clair.

"He got them! He got them and they are still at the house! They said, (sob) they said that they would, (sob) would be right behind me but they're not!" Clair broke down in sobs as she finished telling what happen at the farm.

"Oh Henry, Take Clair here and bring her to your mother. Jenifer can help clean her up as I go over to Harrison's farm." Patrick said.

"No, I can go with you. I'm not a kid anymore!" Henry shouted at Patrick, trying to convey strength, but he was shaking from fear.

Old farmer Patrick stared into Henry's eyes for a long moment then said, "No, you're not ready for this and I can tell you that it could get you killed."

"I'm a grown man!" Henry shot back.

"You're my son! Henry, you will always be my little boy. Now take Clair and go!" Patrick had tears streaming down his face but did not want Henry to see them, so he turned his back to them and took off at a jog. Off he went to his friend's farm.

An hour before Clair reached farmer Patrick's house.

Zayne was walking through the barn and saw nothing that matched his toy machete. He thought that if it weren't in this barn, then it wouldn't be in any of the other barns as well, or that's what Foulness was suggesting. His frustration grew as he pilfered through the items in the barn, not finding anything remotely like his toy. Lost in his sea of rage, he strutted out to the house to relive some of his anger. Little did he know that this would spark a never ending feud between Harrison's house and himself.

"That's right, kill them all. They mean nothing more than entertainment for you, and while you're at it, maybe grab a few corpses and take them back to the forest." Foulness said jovially.

"Sure, that's a great idea. Lead them back to the woods so they can find you." Jiminy spoke up. "Maybe put a few signs up while you are at it, telling everyone that you are there!"

"Calm down, princess, there's no reason to be hostile. I'm sure you can think of a few ways that don't lead the townspeople back to Zayne." Foulness reassured Jiminy.

"What the bloody fuck am I supposed to do? He's on auto pilot right now. There is no way to get through to him!" Jiminy said, exhausted that he had to explain something so simple to this knuckle head.

"Oh." was all Foulness said.

Zayne slinked off to the house, the dark giving him perfect cover as he crept closer. There were no more of those mutts to stop him from reaching the house. All he had to do was open the door. He saw a flicker in the shadows on the side of the house, but his attention got brought back when a girl stepped out on to the porch. She was holding a hoe stance wide as she prepared herself for whatever got her dad. Zayne didn't care. He sped up, running full sprint at the girl, getting ready to take that pretty head of hers off. The girl seen him coming and tried to roll out of the way, but Zayne caught her around the neck and held her there, trying to squeeze the ever loving shit out of her throat.

Zayne felt a sharp pain on the back of his head as a sound of a thunk came out, breaking his hold on the girl. He turned around in a blind furry to find a smaller girl with a bored and a nail poking out. The nail had a drop of blood on it. He put two and two together and came to the conclusion that she did that. Zayne whipped his chain at her and caught her around her wrist, binding her hand so she couldn't get away while she still held the bored.

A loud crack came ringing out and Zayne went to one knee. Looking behind him he found that same girl with the hoe. There was blood on that too, all these beatings he was taking pissed him off even more. With the chain still on the girl with the bored, he pulled and sent the girl stumbling toward him. Zayne rounded on the hoe holder, sending a foot to her mid-section. The kick threw her into the rocking chair, breaking on impact. Zayne heard the wood coming at him seeking his temple. He adjusted his head slightly making it sail past him. He caught the bored before it could get away from him and threw it aside. The girls' hand is still bound with my chain, he thought. She was within his grip, so he lunged for her, catching the girl off guard as she still struggled. He loosened the chain while holding her arm. Zayne smiled. He wrenched her armed back, breaking it out of the socket making her scream, but he wasn't done, pushing her down with force, her arm still in his hand he put his foot to her ribs as she fought to get free, with all he could, he tore it from her. There was a loud wet pop as it came free from her shoulder. He turned to the hoe and walked to her, her sisters' arm still in his hand as he looked down at her. Zayne broke into a new smile. He started beating her till she didn't move anymore, then, for added measure, he dropped the arm and went for hers. Zayne started to bend and brake them in to angles that they shouldn't go. He turned to find the other girl with the arm ripped off was sobbing in sporadic bursts, good she was still alive.

Zayne was dragging the still alive girl by the hair, the girl Gwen was no longer fighting. She was close to bleeding out and was losing consciousness as Zayne went on. He got to the spot that he wanted and unceremoniously dumped her on the hard, packed dirt as Zayne went to the chicken coop. He was rummaging in there for something that he seen the last time he went in. Finding it, he withered in delight. Walking out, he saw the girl was passing out. Zayne moved to help her stay awake by smacking her across the face. He wanted her to be up and lucid for this. Then, when he finished with this bitch, he still had the other one to play with. And that thing Jiminy wanted him to practice doing, Zayne thought, the smile leaving his face.

Patrick was running through the fields and grass to get to his friend's house before anything worst could happen. Yeah, like anything could be worst then a killer showing up and killing the whole family, Patrick thought. He was near the edge of the town now, looking for anything out of the normal Patrick didn't spot it till he got closer. There was a fire blazing near the chicken coop, and he rushed to put it out. He pasted the inferno, catching a mere glimpse of what the material was used. Oh my god, it couldn't be. There was a figure in the fire being held up by pitchforks. The pitchforks were running through the poor girl on different sides of her body. It looked to be one of Harrison's daughters, but Patrick couldn't be sure. He picked up one of the pitchforks that wasn't on fire ran for the house to look for a bucket to run water for the girl, but when he got there, he all but stopped. The sight of Lisa was horrid. Her ligaments were in disarray, the intestines were laying scattered with the ribs broken outward. It looked as if something burst out of her chest. Patrick couldn't stand there any longer and ran into the house, but when he got there, there was blood covering the walls. Writing had taken up over every available space on the walls. The letters looked as if they were written in archaic by nature, as if written by a demon. He stumbled from the house of horrors, sprinting off to the town to warn the others.

Zayne was traveling through the fields closest to town while it was still dark out. The moon was at its highest peak, overlooking the small town. Everyone was asleep in their bed's, well not everyone. He heard a muffled scream come from the house on the edge of the town near the sprouting crops he was walking through. The scream sounded feminine; he should know he just killed two this very night. This voice, however, sounded older by comparison, and so Zayne, with his little to no knowledge of the nightlife, went off to check out what made this woman scream. He approached the windowsill where the noise came from and peered inside, looking to find out-… What Zayne found would lead him on an unending quest that he would come to regret. There was a woman in there alright, with a man eating her from between the legs up.

"That my friend, looks juicy!" Foulness said with shock and aww. That's when Jiminy responded with a notification.

Quest: End of the climax, Stopped couples from finishing, you're not getting any, so why should they. Rewards step two in quest, perk, skill.

Jiminy told both Foulness and Zayne what the notification said, but neither knew what the two of the couple were doing, but a promise of a perk made them both excited. Jiminy was unsure that this was a good idea.

"I'm telling you that taking a quest to find something we don't understand makes little sense. We already have a quest to save the town and you are failing at it horribly." Jiminy had a point. The said quest was one that was needed to complete the tutorial, but he wasn't doing a wonderful job at it. Some would say that he was even killing it. But regardless, the sweet sound of Foulness voice came to him promising new skills and an unknown perk.

"WOAH there friend, he makes a good point the little shit. But let me ask you this. Would you pass this quest up and continue killing? By the way sounds nice. Or take the quest and still kill the town while getting a skill and perk?" The silence was pronounced as Zayne crouched there thinking it over while the couple the Thompsons went at it hard. With a brief pause from Zayne, he excepted the quest without another thought. The notification went to green, then disappeared from view. Thinking to start the quest, he broke the glass of the window he was standing in front of and jumped in, scaring the Thompsons out of the cacophony of their nightly escapade. He made a come here guesser with his hand, swinging the chain out, wrapping around Mr. Thompson, pulling the chain back and breaking the hold he had on Mrs. Thompson. She screamed out, but it was already too late for that. Zayne broke both of their necks in a heat beat, leaving him alone with the naked couple. He looked at Mrs. Thompson and at her mid section searching for any bite marks or chunks that were missing. Apparently, Mr. Thompson wasn't good at eating his meals. Oh well, the more for Zayne. He spread her legs to inspect what was so interesting for the male to want to eat from there. Zayne ate from people before and stayed away from anything that was below the waist. Needless to say that he tried it before and found that eating a person's ass never tasted good. That's why he always stayed at chest level.

There came a whimper in the corner that Zayne didn't notice before, one that got louder and angrier the longer it was left alone. He went to the strange basket and found a bundle of clothes, with a tiny figure in them. He poked it once, getting a response from the thing with a hick up. Zayne not caring to take longer than what he has at the house decided it was best to confront this thing, the best thing he came up with was to pick it up and punt the thing across the room hitting the wall with a thud, knocking over the nightstand on its fall. That didn't stop the thing from crying, and Zayne found out soon after that it was a small babe. Digging in the swathed clothes, he found the child unharmed from all the force he put into that kick. This got him a response from the system that ran the tutorial.

Tutorial alert: all children that are under the age of 16 are considered being no system rule. All things that are not considered system rule are everlasting, till they time out by age. Total time remaining 14 years and 5 months.

Jiminy read the prompted and then reread the thing for a second, third and finally a fourth time. "Hey stupid, you can stop trying to kill the baby now." As he said this, Zayne was in the middle of seeing how far he could kick the baby out in the field. If you're interested, it was the length of 72 yards.

"It seems that the child cannot be hurt or take any status or ailments, I don't know what the last two are, but I know that its pointless to keep the baby as a punching bag," Foulness lit up with that last part, asking "Hey Zayne, your still looking for that toy machete for your fun right? Well, what if I told you I know of another toy that you could have just as much fun with?" He held an evilness in his voice and Zayne was smiling at the end of the explanation.

Patrick was closing into the town, yelling the entire way as he ran "Town emergency! Meet at the town square! There's a killer!" there was a bell located at the town square but was never used until this night. Most of everyone was asleep until the bell rang, waking their family and them up to reach the center of town. Patrick continued to ring the town's bell till Wilkinson came to put a stop to the whole thing.

"Patrick, what in the hell is going on here?" He was dressed in his nighttime pjs and had a thick leather coat. He was staring at Patrick like he was hell bent on killing the man. "It's early in the morning and it's close to harvest time. Do you have any idea on what this is going to do? The whole town won't be able to sleep after this stun that you are doing!"

"Now listen to me! Harrison is dead along with two of his girls!" He shouted loud enough for the coming town's folk to hear him. "I know that because I went there and saw what was left of their bodies, the thing that killed them is still out there and killing. What I need from all of you is to stay here in the square, arm your self's and get ready for a fight!" Patrick was hefting his pitchfork, getting ready for the backlash that was sure to come.

"Are you sure that Harrison is dead? I'm not saying you're making this up, but you have got to listen to what you're saying! You came to me and talked about this crazy shit spying out that you could see blue parchment in your face and that you had a dream of dying. Now you bring this to us in the middle of the night for what? Because you're overworked and can't keep a lid on it!" Wilkinson couldn't hold back his anger any longer and get in Patrick's face as he let loose with what he and the rest of the town were thinking.

"He's, he's telling the truth!" a small voice cut through the muttering of the people gathered in the square. Clair and Patrick's house showed up with the last of the town's folk. Clair and Jenifer were moving toward the center of the crowd as his two boys stayed back, poorly concealing their weapons.

"Something killed my father and my two sisters!" Her voice was sullen but there was a fire deep with in that despair. "I wouldn't have gotten away-" Clair started, but got cut off by Wilkinson.

"You're sure that it's what Patrick is saying and not something else? Listen!" Wilkinson went around the room looking at his town, "I wasn't going to say this in a setting like this, but there have been tracks found of goblins. NO, you don't need to worry yet. Their numbers are few and have only the most primitive idea of what is here. I was planning to get a group of people to round them up and kill em. That idea got sent back with the crazy story that Patrick here shared with me. Now it's sad that Harrison and his girls are dead and there is no way for us to fix that but, this is what was expected with us settling a town here to begin with." Wilkinson had a regretful face on with that speech, but Patrick could see right through it.

"There is no way that you couldn't have shared that information with me and the town! And there is a killer out there. I saw him with my own eyes. People, now is not the time to get sidetracked. There is something out there. We, the town-"

Patrick stopped with what he was doing, as the rest of the town that gathered followed suit and did the same. He thought he heard a crying baby, but no one here had such a thing. The only people that had a kid that age were the Thompsons, and he hadn't seen them here tonight. Patrick looked around to find where the child was but couldn't. The cries were echoing off the surrounding buildings. That's when the night got even worse.

"What the hell is going on? Does anyone know where the baby is? The Thompsons never let the child out of their sights." Wilkinson was yelling out as he got to the edge of the crowd where the crying was the loudest. He got to the outskirts of the crowed where the square stopped and the baker's house came with in so many feet. Then the crying abruptly ended, and Wilkinson was slammed on his back with his head caved in. The brain matter was running off of a baby's head. The person holding it was covered in blood and bits of flesh. Making Patrick who seem the whole thing go pale from the sight, He wanted to shout but couldn't muster up enough courage to make a sound.
