17b - Oaths (Part 2).

“I swear an Oath to my Class and level that I never reveal the true origin of the ability and class bestowed upon me. I also will never use the ability or class bestowed upon me against my benefactor,” the girls were on their knees as they muttered their [Oaths].

He didn’t ask them because it was weird but they still insisted. A simple System notification confirmed the legitimacy of their [Oaths].

He now had two [Oathbearers] under his name.

“Our names as [Oathbearers] will not disappear as long as we are alive,” Liara said and smiled at him beautifully. “You can even feel where we are generally.”

Ake nodded. That would be very handy.

He also realized that it didn’t matter to him if he didn’t know her that all too well, or if she did everything she had done because she was being ordered to. In his eyes, the girl had gone beyond her duty by sponsoring him and letting him stay with her even when she already knew that he might offer nothing back.

The whole town had been indifferent if not annoyed with his existence and to think she got it worse than him. He just could not imagine being in her shoes all these years. It just made her even more precious than she already was.

The question about her race was a little odd but understandable. He would have freaked out if he was not a self-titled otaku. Her reveal only made her more unique in his eyes.

And the only reason he felt assured while struggling against the murderous bunnies was because she was there and she genuinely cared.

Besides, the ability had cost him nothing. He couldn’t even get the advanced and probably unique [Class] it had to offer. It would be simply cruel to keep it to himself and it would be crueler to exclude Sila, the naive girl.

Ake was able to breathe easily as he placed his hand on their heads. Triggering the [Astral Transfer] was simple and he picked the [Arcane Flesh] ability to be transferred to them.

It felt like nothing had happened at first, well, not until they opened their eyes and smiled jubilantly. Not a second later, the familiar subtly glowing lines grew and spread all over their bodies under those thin clothes.

They didn’t even need the [Thread] or [Strand] to gain the ability, it was such a cheat.

But of course, it made him stare at those curves for a few seconds too long.

There was another reason why he gave in. He thought that even with the Ethereal abilities, he still would need somebody who was indebted to him. The fact was, the world was still a stranger to him. He would need all the help he could get to get to know it. It just so happened the two helpers would be the two lovers who would see him as their savior or something.

“Others would demand a lot more for this kind of ability, you know,” Liara said. “A hell lot more,” she added as she gripped and released her fists a few times.

“I’m not that greedy or stupid,” Ake chuckled.

“Why would you say that?” Asked Sila who couldn’t even see it from his perspective.

“I’m not smart but I know enough that those kinds of demanding [Oaths] will only breed resentment and it is impossible to try to cover every loophole. Besides, you have been kind and considerate to me, Liara. If you asked me, this is the least I can do for you.”

Liara breathed in relief, “I’m just glad that I’m not wrong about you. I mean who you are in person as I hadn’t seen this coming.”

Sila pouted as the glow faded from her skin, “I’ve never thought-”

“Before you misunderstand, I have my own reason to do this,” Ake said. “I still know nothing about this world and hope you two can help me with that.”

“We’ll be glad to help,” Liara said with the brightest smile.

“Me- me too,” said Sila, embarrassed by the gold mine she got for nothing but her connection to Liara.

She would probably cherish the girl more after this. Hopefully, the two would be more reserved at showing off their infatuation in the future.

“So what will happen now?” Ake asked the question he had in mind.

“Well, we will have to inform this the Guild as everyone else,” Liara said before she let out a gasp. “And the Guild would probably ship us to the main branch in the capital city,” the look of realization spread on her face.

“Our rare second tier [Class],” Sila closed her mouth with her hands as she also gasped. “But what should we tell them if they ask?”

“Just tell them a stranger bestowed the ability on you,” Ake said. “It is both vague and not a complete lie if they have a way to tell, which I highly suspect they do. I also can work on a plan if everyone thinks we’ll need more than that.”

“Everyone who asks will think we’ve told the truth thanks to the [Oath]. I’ve told you that he is wiser and kinder than he looked,” the woman reminded her girlfriend as they linked arms. “He’ll be a great adventuring partner to us.”

“Do you think I don’t know that already?” Sila pouted even harder at her lover.

Ake was divided. He was happy for them but also envied the bond the two had with each other until their [Oath] felt like being spoken by one person.

But of course, it can’t be very mentally healthy for him who was cursed with omnipotence to travel with a pair of lovey-dovey lesbians. He might even need a magical sleeping pill during the cold nights just to stay sane. Besides, there were things he wanted to try away from prying eyes and possibly unlock a few other [Class] along the way.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I don’t think I’m ready to be fighting monsters, not even with what the ability has to offer. My mind is not there just yet.”

“But, are you sure about this, we could pick up easier quests for you to adjust,” Sila said to his warm surprise.

Deep inside, she was a good girl after all. He didn’t know what had or hadn’t happened, but Sila was simply traumatized by men. No one could blame her as everybody knew how cruel morally deprived men could be in a lawless place.

“But you handled the rabbits pretty well,” Liara added, questioning his choice. “With [Arcane Flesh], you’ll do more than fine, I think.”

“I have not enough mana to keep it active for long and I’ll stick with those murderous rabbits for now, thank you. Anything bigger I would probably shit my pants,” Ake chuckled and shook his head. “The world I come from doesn't have any kind of monsters, in case you forget that little thing. I’m also much better at making things than killing things.”

The two looked at each other and their worries reflected on each other.

Ake had such experience in computer games, of course, and horror movies. Let’s not forget visual novels and the like. All of those had somewhat prepared his mind even though it was not the same at all, on many levels.

“I can’t imagine living in such a world, it must’ve been nice,” Sila said.

“Not really, no,” Ake chuckled. “You might forget that we also don’t have any magic.”

“But what will you do?” Liara said with a concerned look on her cute face.

“For now, I’m planning to look around town for things I can possibly do as a living.”

“You said you are good at making things, yes?” Liara asked and Ake nodded. “Then you should try to get the [Artificer] class. I’ve heard it can be unlocked by figuring out simple magic items.”

Ake shrugged, “Sure, that is a good idea, thanks Liara.”

“And we will figure out something if it is the last thing we do,” Sila said in full determination. “It won’t be good to be stuck here for the rest of your life, right, Liara?”

“Yes, we will,” Liara added. “There should be something we could do. You might not be ready to be our adventuring partner, but we can never leave you here all alone. Especially after what you’ve done for us.”

“You don’t have to Liara, I’ll be fine, I promise,” Ake said.

“No, you won’t be fine,” Sila stated vehemently. “We will bring you with us if they want to drag us to their main branch. As you’ve said, this is the least we can do.”

Liara nodded to her partner’s declaration.

Ake couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was not all that bad when he thought about it, but goddammit, how in the world did it come to this? He didn’t want to be stuck with anyone if he could help it, especially between two lovers.

Ake sighed inside as he found himself smiling at the two.

At least, it didn’t feel like he was faking it.
