Chapter nine: Adrian Hammond

Chapter nine: Adrian Hammond

Adrian was dreaming again. The white sterile rooms greeted him like an old friend. He was with his parents again.

They sat around a small coffee table, sipping on tea and chatting about old memories. Adrian couldn't believe it - his parents had passed away years ago. But here they were, sitting with him, looking as lively and radiant as the day they left him.

His mother reached out to him, taking his hand. "We're so proud of you, Adrian," she said, smiling at him. "You've grown into such a wonderful man."

Tears welled up in his eyes and he looked down at his lap, trying to hide his emotions. He had always missed them, but he couldn't help feeling angry at them too. They had left him alone in this world, to fend for himself.

His father put a hand on his shoulder, comforting him. "We had to go, son," he said, his voice soothing. "But we're always watching over you. We're always here for you."

Adrian looked up at his father, feeling a sudden sense of fear he remembered oh remembered.

The fear crept up his spine as he slowly told his parents about the supernatural powers he had. His father's jaw tensed and his mother scoffed, thinking he was just trying to be funny. But when he accurately predicted a fight between them later that night, their expressions shifted into disbelief.

They gave him away to a lab to be experimented on. He found himself living in these sterile white rooms, surrounded by scientists and technicians who were trying to make sense of what he could do. They measured his bones for their density and cut off the tip of one of his fingers to test its elasticity.

They laid him in pod after pod after pod while they hooked him up to machines that measured his blood pressure and heart rate and blood sugar and reflexes. The pods were cramped and uncomfortable, but they let him stretch out across them like a bat with its wings spread wide, a bird with its tail fanned out behind it. His room was near the front window of the laboratory so he had a clear view of everything that passed outside.

Adrian was baffled as to why the scientists wanted to analyze him, why he had been cursed with these odd abilities. But no matter how much they tried, they were unable to provide any real answers. All Adrian could feel was the intense pain that reverberated through his body after each test. He was tired of being their experiment, yet he couldn’t deny the intrigue he felt about learning more.

But not like this he would break soon.

Then it happened they called it a god but no it was just part of the natural order of the world. The world turned and shook rain pouring down embracing the whole world swallowing the country whole in its tender embrace.

When he woke from his slumber he had a plan. No a goal he needed to get ready for the reckoning.

Adrian knew what he had to do. He had to escape from this laboratory and take down the people responsible for his torture. He had seen their faces, memorized their names, and he was ready to make them pay.

He began to plot his escape, studying the layout of the laboratory and the schedules of the guards. He knew that he had to be careful and precise, otherwise his plan could fail and he would be stuck in this place forever.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. But finally, the day arrived. Adrian had managed to pick the lock of his cell and sneak out into the hallway undetected. He moved like a shadow, staying low to the ground and avoiding the cameras that were scattered throughout the facility.

As he made his way towards the exit, he heard a commotion coming from one of the testing rooms. He peeked inside and saw a group of scientists huddled around a table, examining a strange object that glowed with another worldly light. Adrian's heart began to race as he felt a surge of power coursing through his body. He knew what he had to do.

With a deep breath, he stepped into the room, his eyes fixed on the glowing object. The scientists looked up in surprise as he approached, but before they could react, Adrian unleashed a wave of energy that knocked them all to the ground.

He quickly grabbed the glowing object and cradled it in his arms as he made his way towards the exit once more. The guards were alerted to his presence, but they were too slow to catch him as he sprinted towards the door.

Adrian burst through the exit, the cool night air filling his lungs as he ran towards freedom. He could hear the sounds of pursuit behind him, but he didn't look back. He knew that he had to keep running, to keep moving forward.

As he reached the edge of the Seaside, Adrian felt a surge of power coursing through his veins; it was too much he was going to burst. His body was bloating, he had to do something... Anything to make it go away.

He called to the source it was rebellious; it didn't like anyone commanding it to do anything. But with the promise of being let loose it complied and Adrian felt his body reach it's crescendo he was blanking out now.

With one more push and all of this would be over. In one final push his tormentors would be dead and everyone else on this god forsaken island.

He filled the ocean with the source the ocean churned and twisted rose up to loom over the island.

"Destroy, kill it, do what you want, make sure no one leaves this portion of the sea without my say!" Adrian's eyes were bulged and he spit out the last few words.

Then he hummed and before the ocean started to ravage the land.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"Bring me my mommy and daddy."

The screams of the damned were like music to his ears. An orchestra that he wishes he could repeat and repeat but unfortunately the cries started to slow down to a crawl.

He stood on the only boat left, it was one with a sail and food. Pacing back and forth he couldn't wait for his parents to show up oh how he missed them. After he was taken away a missing hole in his heart craved for them.

The ocean purred at him as it broke apart and tossed two people roughly on to the deck. He already started running and humping before they even landed. Moving closer his parents were soaked but Adrian wasn't worried his loving parents would dry off in no time.

Smiling at his parents he exclaimed "look papa, mama are you proud of what i done." His parents' faces went pale and they looked at him with horror. They spoke softly

"Adrian, you are not our son."

His fathers voice was gruff and tore through Adrian's mind.

"No monster could be my son." His father shoved him away and pulled his mom back. Adrian crawled towards his parents. But then it hit like a lance his neck reared back as the world spun.

Adrian got back onto his feet and touched his cheek gingerly. He looked back at his 'parents' ; they were moving towards the lifeboat Adrian would have none of that.

With a twist of his wrist the line snapped in half dropping the boat into the sea as it was swallowed by the waves.

His parents turned around back to him. Fear in their eyes Adrian felt rage and decided his dad would be first.

His magic quivered in anticipation then it struck. His arm twisted with a pop.

His dad screamed in agony as his bones shattered and twisted like pretzels under Adrian's power. But just as quickly as the pain came, it was gone. Adrian released his grip, watching as his father's body crumpled to the ground, broken and lifeless.

His mother looked at him, her eyes wide with terror and disbelief. Adrian approached her, his hands shaking with rage and power.

"Why did you do this to me?" he spat. "Why did you give me away like I was some kind of experiment?"

His mother trembled as she spoke. "We did it to protect you, Adrian. We didn't understand what you were capable of. We thought it was for the greater good."

Adrian snarled.

"The greater good? You destroyed my life. You made me a monster. And now you'll pay the price."

He lifted his hand, summoning the power that he had been suppressing for so long. The energy pulsed through his veins With a flick of his wrist, she flew across the room, slamming into the wall with a sickening crunch. She lay there, motionless, as Adrian sauntered over to her.

He knelt down beside her, a twisted smile on his lips.

"You always did underestimate me, mama," he said, stroking her hair. "But now I'm the one in control."Her hair grew whiter and whiter as her body wrinkled.

Adrian watched as his 'parents' were swallowed up by the sea. He didn't feel any remorse for what he had done. They had abandoned him, left him to be a lab rat, and now they were paying the price for their actions.

As he stood there, watching the chaos he had unleashed, Adrian felt a sense of liberation. For the first time in his life, he was in control. He had power, and he wasn't afraid to use it.

Adrian turned away from the destruction and set sail for a brighter future.

*

Adrian was now in a forest; this new land was a disappointment to him. Yes it was new but not a lot was different.

People still fought, still killed and did more horrible things to each other. Adrian never understood why others killed but he did understand why he kills. It’s quite simple: he needs food so the people or animals will do just fine.

Though others have all the stuff they need in life provided but they still do all the evil things for no reason.

Perhaps when he gets older he could change how things run. Adrian was powerful; he knew that he was strong. He liked that fact.

He was heading towards a thick forest somewhere between hoseCroose or that’s what he thought the place was called.

*

The forest was too quiet. Usually during his journey across the world he would discover a bunch of non hostile animals that he would eat.

Sure he felt a little bad the same with humans but things must be done in order to have another future. He knew all about the future after all he could see it.

Though he can’t view everything that will happen in his life he could in fact he could see thirty days into the future. Unfortunately he would have to wait a whole year till he could see again.

*

The screams of the dead reached Adrian’s ears. He was on a battlefield, men in white armor and people in native clothing were fighting. Adrian was amazed he had never seen this level of combat before. He hid in the trees watching Adrian’s breath quicken his heart skipped a beat.

He wanted no needed to join in his magic started to burn under his skin.

*

Turns out joining a battlefield alone is a horrible idea; the drugged state he was in was a testament of his mistake.

He was in a cage. Dread filled Adrian with his magic; he couldn't feel it. It was like a warm blanket was cruelly snatched away in a snow storm.

He felt numb, cold and hollow. The dart at the back of his neck burned and his arms were tied so it was stuck in his neck at an awkward angle.

Eventually when he woke up again it was removed and there was a bowl it was made out of bamboo. It was separated into two sections one had food in it the other had water.

Adrian Balked at it; he was more than some measly pet. He would demand for better treatment and a future lord like himself would deserve better.

*

It’s been a few months since his kidnapping. His face dropped day after day he could feel himself getting skinnier and skinnier.

He had a little fat on his body but the little left was not gone like a quiet breeze.

The men in the village came infrequently and sometimes forgot to clean his cage. The smell was ghastly. But like most things Adrian adapted and overcame his parents and the lab was not a succession.

He would escape and kill his captors.

*

The future was still unknown to him. The savages kept him in locked and key. They only let his magic free enough to see a day into the future just enough to predict the outcome of affairs.

*

Adrian didn’t know what year it was, time seemed to go as a blur. He was losing hope year after year his visions never showed a savior. His knowledge of time may have been forgotten but his body kept on growing even when his mind decayed.

But then it happened a dark skinned male and woman with a white gal with each other appeared and released everyone and Adrian felt hope for the first time in years.

*

---

Fire, the glorious sight, engulfed the village in a frenzied dance of destruction. Adrian watched with a mixture of satisfaction and indifference as the structures crumbled, devoured by the hungry flames. The screams of the villagers echoed in the night, but Adrian felt no pity. They had imprisoned him, treated him like a beast, and now they were reaping the consequences of their actions.

As the flames licked the sky and the acrid scent of burning wood and flesh filled the air, Adrian felt a surge of power. It was as if the fire itself obeyed his will. He extended his hand, and the flames responded, swirling and dancing at his command. It was a feeling of raw, untamed power that he had never experienced before. For so long his magic was bound now now he could feel it in its power.

But even as he reveled in his newfound abilities, Adrian couldn't help but feel a pang of emptiness. He was alone in this world, a stranger in a land that had no place for him. His parents had abandoned him, the scientists had treated him as a specimen, and now the villagers had met their fiery end. He was a wanderer, a nomad of fate, drifting through life with no purpose or direction.

Adrian turned away from the burning village, his heart heavy with the weight of his past and the uncertainty of his future. He knew that he had to keep moving, keep searching for answers and meaning in a world that had cast him aside.

With each step he took, the forest swallowed him whole, its dark and mysterious depths concealing secrets and dangers unknown. But Adrian was not afraid. He had faced far worse in his life, and he would face whatever challenges lay ahead with the same determination and power that had brought him this far.

And so, the lone figure of Adrian disappeared into the heart of the forest, a solitary soul on a journey of self-discovery and revenge, guided only by the flickering flames of his newfound abilities and the burning desire for a future that he could call his own.

But he had someone. No needed someone, that person was his savior Ronan Mors.
