Chapter 5: Daelos vs Rhina

Chapter 5: Daelos vs Rhina

The battle between Daisha and Windrel was lacklustre compared to the previous fights. Since Daisha’s main attack style utilized the law of light, her speed was unmatched amongst the rest of the class. This was even more evident against someone like Windrel who couldn’t even see her attacks coming.

Unlike the other competitors who lost, Windrel actually didn’t sustain too much damage, allowing him to fight again in the next round.

“Rhina vs Daelos.”

My time to shine.

Walking onto the courtyard Rhina felt her lust for battle rise. Feeling her battle intent aimed at him Daelos couldn’t help but feel his blood start to boil. “Come at me with everything you have, or I’ll crush you!”

“We’ll see who gets crushed.”

“Don’t get cocky! She’s not like the rest.” Lyla berated him.

“I’ll crush her like the rest.” Letting out a crazed laughter filled with bloodlust, the audience felt their bodies tremble.

Did that training break him? Thinking to herself Lyla decided to just watch.

Seeing the maniacal look in Daelos’s eyes, a loose smile hung at the edge of Kira’s lips. This may be a problem…Oh well, I’m sure everything’ll work out.

“Begin.”

Without any hesitation Daelos covered his body in wind and charged towards his opponent. Rhina summoned over 20 fireballs, each firing towards the charging human. “Explode” Once the fireballs were close enough all 20 of them simultaneously exploded causing Daelos to be sent flying backwards.

Covering his body in a thin coat of the earth element Daelos managed to avoid taking in any real damage. “MORE!” Roaring at his opponent, his right foot stomped on the ground causing the earth to shake. Disappearing from sight Daelos reappeared in front of Rhina and aimed a kick towards her head. Avoiding the kick, Rhina summoned an earth spike right under Daelos.

Preforming a wind enhanced backflip he narrowly avoided getting impaled. On his face was a smile that practically screamed ‘I’m having fun!!’ Raising his hand in the air the area below Rhina started to heat up before raging magma erupted out the ground. Dodging the magna Rhina didn’t see how Daelos appeared beside her. Using this chance he delivered a swift kick to her ribcage and sent her flying.

*CRACK*

Stabilizing her breathing, uncontrollable rage flashed across her beautiful green eyes. Around her the wind turned chaotic as a fire like aura covered her body. Her hair changed from the original light blonde colour into a bright crimson. Her eyes became a hot orange and on her skin orange symbols radiating heat imprinted themselves. Around her multiple cracks surfaced on the ground as steam escaped through the gaps.

The temperature around the entire courtyard started to rise causing Daelos to find it hard to breathe.

In the distance Kira watched the young girl undergo a weird transformation. Elf king bloodline huh. How will you deal with this?.

Summoning a ball of water Daelos tried to cool himself down. To his surprise the ball of water actually evaporated the moment it was formed!

“Can you deal with this?” Lyla’s voice echoed out in his head.

Calming down from his battle crazed state, Daelos started to look at the situation with a more logical mind. “I can’t beat her if I just rely on my understanding of laws.”

“Will you use mental or vibrational energy?”

“None I’ll try to use the law of earth first.”

“Didn’t you say that wouldn’t work?”

“Yeah but for some reason I feel like using mental energy and vibrational energy is too excessive for an academy examination.”

“So you won’t use it?”

“I didn't say that.”

Ending his conversation with Lyla, Daelos felt the earth beneath his feet tremble.

Raising his arms into the air and then slamming them together two giant earth hands rose from the cracked earth around Rhina and crushed her in between them. Watching his opponent get crushed a grim expression appeared on his face.

The giant earth hands entrapping Rhina slowly started to turn in to dust and scatter, revealing Rhina’s untouched body.

Damn!

Looking up from the ground, her bright eyes focused on Daelos’s distant figure. When their eyes met Daelos felt his eyes start to sting. So much for not using energy.

Stomping his foot on the ground as hard as he could his figure once more disappeared from sight before appearing in front of the transformed Rhina. Creating a sword made of jagged earth Daelos slashed towards her face. Slightly moving her head to the side Rhina stretched out her arm and grabbed his wrist.

*Sizzle*

The smell of burning flesh permeated the air as Rhina’s orange pupils stared unblinkingly into Daelos’s eyes.

Fuck it! Coating his burnt wrist in dense vibrations Daelos managed to forcibly remove Rhina's iron grip. Pulling his left arm back, he threw a vibration covered fist towards her face. Feeling a certain amount of threat towards the fist flying towards her face, Rhina ducked down, dodging the attack before releasing a combo of fists on Daelos’s stomach and forced him into retreat. Disappearing from his sight Rhina appeared behind him holding a ball of fire.

Pyrokinetic Invisibility!!

*BOOM*

A huge surge of heat impacted Daelos’s back flinging his body forward at an incredible speed. Despite the burning sensation on his back, Daelos couldn’t help but find the situation funny. Hahaha she’s strong. I might as well at least try to go all out.

Feeling his blood start to boil, Daelos’s body started to radiate battle intent as his crazed laughter once more sounded out.

In the Agnos Requiem Lyla watched in silence. So he’s going to go all out while in his battle crazed state.

Coughing out a mouthful of blood, Daelos pulled his pain ridden body up from the ground. Locking his golden pupils onto Rhina’s fire encased body. A murderous smile hung from his face. Covering his fists in dense vibrations, Daelos covered his skin in a light earth type armour before shooting towards Rhina at an explosive pace.

As he approached her, a light purple aura erupted out of his body. This aura soon became very faint but struck towards Rhina. Swiping her hand she tried to eradicate the faint purple energy from reaching her. Unfortunately her attack passed right through as she lost sight of the energy. Feeling a foreign force enter her body Rhina felt her body freeze.

Using the moment that his mental energy entered her body, Daelos struck her face without holding back in the slightest.

Waking up due to the pain on her face, Rhina countered by throwing her own fire covered fist towards him. Her blow struck the side of his face sending him recoiling back as a small amount of fire tried to eat away at the skin on his face. To everyone’s surprise, Daelos just looked at her before a formless energy dissipated the fire on his face. “That tickles.”

An aura of brutality erupted out of his body as his golden pupils flashed with an animalistic savageness.

The temperature in the atmosphere rose even higher as the clothes on all the candidates started to melt or catch fire. Watching this development Kira sat in her chair as cool as a cucumber unaffected by the sudden rise in temperature. The heat only caused Daelos’s blood to boil even more as he felt himself lose more and more control of his mind.

Releasing more vibrations around his hands the air before him started to tremble in response. Seeing the intent in his eyes, Rhina couldn’t help but smile at the prospect fighting someone with her full power. Despite the face that both of them were basically naked their battle intent soared towards the sky as they started trading blows.

Every hit Daelos delivered was combined with a mental energy attack causing a delay in Rhina’s response.

*BOOM*

Every hit Rhina dished out resulted in Daelos’s scorched skin blackening.

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

After 300 hundred rounds of swapping blows, both Daelos and Rhina felt that their bodies became heavier and their breathing became more ragged.

Oh Finally ran out of juice huh.

Appearing between the two combatants Kira slammed their heads together, knocking them both unconscious. Looking at the state the two of them had left the courtyard in she couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on. At least I have two promising students. Picking up the unconscious fighters, Kira headed towards the infirmary leaving the last two combatants behind in a daze.
