Chapter 76: Battle maniac

Chapter 76: Battle maniac

Fighting without using his special skills allowed him to become even better at using them. Seemed weird, but during those brief few hours when he fought with just his raw strength, Gorn saw countless opportunities. Situations where using his skills for just a moment could allow him to do serious, or even critical, damage to the opponent.

“Shall we begin?” cracking his fingers, Gorn stopped using his abilities. “This time, I must finish faster than last time.”

Like that, Gorn started to train like a madman. By the time he finished with the last available snake, it had already been a whole day inside the auto farming system.

In spite of the fact that it wasn’t a tremendous amount of time, some results could undoubtedly be seen. Now, except for a few bruises, there weren’t any other injuries. No broken fingers, or other bones. The time it took to finish the snake has reduced considerably as well.

“The results are better than expected!” exclaimed Gorn. He was very pleased by the outcome. His passive skill ‘fast learner’ showed its might at this moment. Even though its level was just two, there were clearly some effects.

Gorn wasn’t sure how much of that was his natural ability, and how much it came from the skill, but no matter what, seeing quick results was thrilling. If a skill could increase that characteristic of a person even by a small amount, then its usefulness was nothing to scoff at.

The benefits of such a trait couldn’t be ignored. The beauty of it was that it applied not only to learning how to fight, but learning in general. Having such a wide scope allowed for even greater results.

Gorn immediately bought two ‘skill level up vouchers’, and used them on the spot to bring his ‘fast learner’ ability to level four. That required one hundred and twenty thousand gold, basically, approximately all the money that he had at that moment. Despite that, he didn’t feel any remorse at all.

“Status!”

Now, Gorn was eager to train some more. With great excitement, he waited for the timer with the less amount of time to reset. The moment that happened, he jumped towards the snake to challenge it.

Attacking, evading, using weird strategies, Gorn tried a multitude of things. At some point, it was visible that he could finish his opponent. But he didn’t do that. Gorn continued to practice some evasion techniques, as well as attacking. He used minimal force, planning to keep his target alive until the next opponent was available.

The money spent on the ‘fast learner’ skill was well worth it. Gorn could actually feel a difference.

“This is amazing!”

Fighting became a real pleasure. Gorn was now like a maniac. Intoxicated with the new-found feeling, his satisfaction grew larger by the minute. Losing track of time, Gorn lost himself in combat.

After an unknown amount of time, something different happened.

Gorn’s vision turned black, and when he could clearly see again, the scenery changed. In his line of sight was Nora, and next to her was Mara. Both of them were worried, and quite timid. Especially Mara, she didn’t dare look him into the eyes.

“What happened?” asked Gorn, feeling a little dizzy.

“Everything is fine,” said Nora, analyzing him.

‘Then why did she disturb me?’ thought Gorn. Looking into Nora’s deep, black eyes, it suddenly came to him. “How much time has passed since I entered the cabin?”
