Kevin leaped for the door handle and grasped and tugged at it in desperation. He began smashing his shoulder into the hard wooden door over and over. He took a step back and began to kick fruitlessly at the latch hoping to break it free. The voice began to laugh as Kevin began to punch furiously at the door.
“You look so stupid!” she laughed as he resigned to leaning against the door panting heavily as he held his bloodied knuckles. “He does look rather peculiar doesn't he?” the stranger put his feet up onto his large desk. The metal plates on his boots clinked against the hardwood. Kevin turned and slumped down against the door facing the gold toothed grin behind the desk.
“You’re embarrassing yourself Mr Carmichael.” the stranger stood up and walked around his desk towards the floor bound young man. “Fuck off” Kevin spat at him with vitriol. The small glob of spit hit the stranger's cheek. It turned to steam before it could run down. The stranger held out a hand in front of him.
Kevin’s body rose from the ground in pure agony as his body was wrenched from the floor. He could feel his muscles being pulled, bones being shaken and his blood boiling in his veins as he floated through the air towards an open black leather seat. The stranger put his hand down and Kevin’s aching body collapsed into it.
“That my boy is no way to start a conversation.” The stranger took a seat behind his desk and removed his sunglasses. His eyes were pitch black with pupils of fiery orange and they bore deep holes into Kevin’s skull. “Now you’re here to talk to your councillor and get some of that teenage angst off of your chest. So lets play nice and talk.”
“Who is she? You heard her speak. She knows you.” Kevin's words came out slow and with gasps as he attempted to regain his breath. “Who are you? You haven't aged a day.” the stranger smiled as Kevin asked. “Why thank you. I have an impeccable skin routine. Finally you are asking questions rather than just pissing your pants.” the stranger seemed almost proud.
“Well first off i think it's very rude to discuss a young lady like she's not in the room.” the stranger pointed at Kevin’s chest with two fingers and made a motion of parting them. Pain unlike he had ever known coursed through Kevin’s body as he felt a part of him be torn violently away.
Through the painful Haze in his vision Kevin watched as from nothing ashes began to gather and formed first bone, then strands of muscle and finally skin and clothing on a familiar looking young woman she floated down into another leather chair facing the stranger and opened her pitch black eyes.
“Oh shit.” The girl looked down at her hands. “I'm.” she felt at her face and hair “this is” she smiled as a stapler flew and hit her on the head. She winced in pain as the same sensation shot to Kevin. He felt her pain as his own. She rubbed her head and complained under her breath. The stranger chuckled at having hit his target.

“Kevin, I'd like to introduce you to someone you already know. Now this here is Liv. You two have been quite a team lately. What with you gettin your ass kicked and her stepping in. I saw what you two did to Mr Roberts. You might call me a little impressed.” the stranger threw his hands in the air as he smiled about the fate of Todd.
Kevin could finally put a name to the voice he had heard in his head for the past three months. Part of him until this point had been convinced that he was crazy but here she was in the flesh. Rubbing the same spot on her head over and over. The part of him that had been torn away was now a living, breathing person.
“All this time I've had a name and now you are only just telling me? You’re an asshole.” she pouted and folded her arms, scowling towards the stranger. “I just gave you a body of your own. Show some damn respect!” he scowled back at her and his eyes brightened as he raised his voice. He sat back and rubbed his eyes with his index finger and thumb.
“Now Kevin, Liv. it's time i was real.” he reached under his desk and bought out a bottle of vintage whiskey and three small glasses. “Now Officer Williams had no taste in liquor but I know the good from the swill.” he smiled bragging as he poured. He passed the glasses to the young pair and gestured them to drink as he threw back his in one gulp.
Liv coughed and choked as the liquid burned her throat. Kevin stayed stalwart in the face of potential danger as he felt the same. “Now see Kevin, you represent a big investment for me. I've had my eye on you since you were in your drug-addled mothers womb. I knew you and I could work oh so well together.” he pointed towards Kevin as he poured himself another glass.
His hand shifted towards Liv who was holding her chest from coughing as her eyes watered. “You Liv. well I needed insurance for my investment and so far you have proven that you definitely measure up. That roll up the arm and grab you did on that boy? That was some ninja shit.” he slammed his glass down on the desk and opened a draw.
He pulled out a thick leather bound book and threw it to Kevin. Opening it he saw an index of names and page numbers. “By now you have noticed that you aint no ordinary boy right?” he looked to Liv to back him up. “I've tried to tell him. He takes a lot of convincing” she pulled her legs up and held her knees to her chest.
“Look Kevin, brass tacks says you got power. Now how you use it is up to you but i highly suggest you do some readin.'' Kevin flipped through the file quickly. A few familiar faces passed by amongst a sea of strangers. “Why would I help you? You made Officer Williams kill my dad.” Kevin gripped the file tightly. Ready to burst at the prospect of doing the strangers bidding.
“I did that to protect you boy. Imagine where you would be if I let that reprobate keep you. I had to do my civic duty and step in to protect a vulnerable young boy.” The stranger held his chin in his hands and spoke mockingly as he pulled an exaggerated frown. “Look, I'll make you a deal. I can teach you more about yourself and help you get everything you could want. All you gotta do is take a read of that file there and do the right thing about em”
“Ok so what do i get out of it?” Liv put her hand in the air to ask. “Well my dear you get to keep that body when the list is empty.” he made the same two fingered gesture he had before. this time went from fingers apart to together. “What do you mean afte……” her words devolved into a scream as the missing piece returned to Kevin.
Her body crumbled slowly to ashes and quickly vanished. Her voice ranted and raved as she cried having been re confined to the endless void that was her home. “That was cruel!” Kevin barked at the stranger, feeling her rage as his own. The stranger chuckled as the door to the room unlatched. “Would it be so bad if he died?” the stranger turned away as he spoke.
“don't tell me you aint got a cruel side”
