Noelle gritted her teeth, her voice already as raspy as it could be. She thought that she had already walked out of her relationship with Hendrix, but she just realized that she had overestimated herself. Whatever the Swansons did couldn't affect her anymore, but a few words from Hendrix were the sharpest knives, stabbing her deeply.
Hendrix sat across from her, holding her gaze. After a while, he sniggered. "Do you feel mistreated? Then, do you think it's an honorable act to go on a blind date less than a week after a divorce?"
Noelle was quiet.
Reaching out, Hendrix held her chin. "Also, you're the one who climbed into my bed last night. Why didn't you think that you were being cheap at that time?"
His eyes turned cold all of a sudden and were so full of disdain that it felt like a slap on her face. She gritted her teeth even harder, but her tightly balled fists slowly relaxed
However, Hendrix didn't have the patience to continue this conversation with her and rose to his feet. "Noelle, you don't have a choice," he stated and started out
However, Noelle's voice echoed from behind him, "How long?"
Hendrix stopped in his tracks and turned around at the same time she looked up. There were tears brimming in her eyes, and she had bitten her lip so hard that it was bleeding. It appeared that she was using all she had to maintain her composure to converse with him.
Looking at her, Hendrix was reminded of her watery eyes when she stared at him last night. He gulped and said, Two years, I guess."
Noelle clenched her jaw even harder, but in the end, she nodded.
"Okay," she uttered and stood up as well.
Hendrix watched as she started leaving. "Where are you going?"
"Back to my home," she answered and turned to him. "I guess you don't need me anymore today. When you do... I'll come over."
After some deliberation, she composed herself a little. Speaking in a diplomatic tone, she completely treated this issue as a transaction between them. 1
Before Hendrix could answer, she continued walking forward.
"I'll drop you off," Hendrix said in the end.
e no
Noelle wanted to reject him at first, but after pausing for a second, she swallowed the words. At this point, she longer had the energy left to argue with him.
On the way downstairs, Hendrix told her his address here, "Level 23, Block A, Percy Gardens. The door lock. password is the same as Nivis Villa."noveldrama
Noelle knew that this would be the usual spot for their dates, or rather, their affair. She said nothing, merely nodding in acknowledgment.
Soon, the lift reached the basement parking garage. When Levi drove the car over, Noelle paused. Noticing the awkwardness on her face, Levi hurriedly said, Don't worry, Ms. Swanson. I've sent the car
for
cleaning this morning.
Noelle felt her breath stuck in her chest, and Hendrix chuckled after seeing the look on her face before hopping into the car.
When he saw that she wasn't moving, he asked, "Why are you still standing there? Get in the car."
