Vol 3: Chap 13: So this is how it ends

Phew, I am finally on floor thirty.

Yesterday, I barely made it past the twentynineth and reached the thirtieth safe room. As the floors progressed, the take on my SP got harsher and harsher and it didn't look like I could do 5 floors per day any more as I originally planned.

Anyways, my worries for that were unneeded as you will soon find out.

[Prodemius Venemascus LVL 350]

This is what I found in the 30th boss room.

I had already stopped reacting at the names of these monsters. They were as crazy as they got. But the appearance of them, left me hanging every time.

This time, the boss was a Soul Reaper. Or is it a Grim Reaper? Either way, its whichever one got the scythe, cuz this guy used one and it was HUGE. Maybe not as much as my [Massive Mace] but still considerably so. If my Mace was 3 and a half metres in length, the scythe was 3 metres, short by only half a metre, but as if to compensate that, the blade of the scythe was atleast a metre, if not longer.

The boss's appearence was mysterious, not terrifying or creepy. Well, maybe a little bit creepy.

It was wearing a long black cloak. Its face was covered with a hood long enough to hide the entirety of its face. Even its feet weren't visible. In fact, I doubted it had feet by the way its cloak was fluttering. It was almost like the boss was floating a distance above the ground. The only parts of the boss's body visible were its skeletal hands which held the scythe. The hands were made of white bones, but I doubted it was in any way related to a [White Skeleton].

With my mace in my hands, I got ready to battle. The boss swayed a bit and moved. Albeit a bit slow, its movements were unpredictable. It went some distance one side and then to the other. The way it changed directions almost seemed as if it could defy the laws of physics. Frankly speaking, the boss looked like it was drunk.

But I didn't let my guard down.

Suddenly, the boss stopped.

But it was only for the briefest instance before it dashed in my direction. There was no sounds of its feet.

The boss came at me with the scythe at its back.

As I got ready to intercept, the boss changed direction and missed me.

But I was onto its little trick. The scythe was out at its back with the blade ready to claim my head.

I pulled up my mace to intercept.

"Aaarghh..." (Me)

The next moment, I was holding my bleeding right arm with my left.

Without giving me time to recover, the boss attacked again. But I wasn't stupid enough to fall for the same thing twice.

This time, I clearly dodged the attack instead of blocking it.

I had a healing potion in my inventory but I doubted the boss was keen in giving me enough time to use it.

Earlier, when the boss attacked and I blocked with my Mace, I saw it. What made this boss special.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

Its scythe bypassed all materialistic items, it was that sort of ability. I made it just in time to not get beheaded but the aftermath left me incapitated and my right arm was now useless. Also, I was weaponless as I dropped the mace in shock as my left hand inadvertently parted to hold my right one.

It hurt really bad. Even with the reduced pain of VR, pain was still pain.

The boss didn't give me time to even think and kept attacking relentlessly. Since it didn't need to worry about me blocking or parrying, it attacked pretty straightforwardly, all of which I had to dodge. One mistake was all it required to end this fight.

I kept dodging the attacks, trying to look for an opening.

The mace was lying in the distance. There no way way I could get to it like this, much less properly use it with one arm. I had to do something. It had already turned into a blunder since the fight started.

"Lesser Summon Undead Soldier.

Lesser Summon Undead Soldier. Lesser Summon Undead Soldier. Lesser Summon Undead Soldier. Lesser Summon Undead Soldier...................Lesser Summon Undead Soldier. Lesser Summon Undead Soldier. Lesser Summon Undead Soldier........................" (Me)

I kept repeating the name of the skill to try and put a shield in front of me even if for a second. I kept summoning more and more but each one would be sliced like paper and wouldn't stop the momentum of the boss one bit.

"Tch." (Me)

I stopped calling out the name of my skill. Clearly it was useleas here. What could LVL 20 skeletons do against a LVL 350 Boss?

Only if I could get a single hit in.... If I use my [One Hit], the fight would be over in lierally one hit. But even for that, using anything with lesser range than my mace would get me beheaded by that scythe.

(No choice. Its do or die.)

One last stand is what I was going to fight for.

*dash*

Barely dodging one more attack, I ran towards my mace.

(Won't leave me alone!)

The boss didn't waste a single moment and followed me right after.

(Almost there!)

Within an arms reach!

(YES!)

As I reached the mace, I grabbed it with my left hand and swung it behind me without changing my speed.

(Huh?)

Next thing I knew, I wokr up in my bed with the headgear on my head.

(Fuck, I died!)

It was wait for 24 hours and redo all floors for me now.

(Isn't this what the call GG?)

{Great game, said at the end of the game or when you admit defeat.}

"Haah, might as well study for my test." (Me)

----------------------------------------

How was the ending? I wanted to add some sort of a twist.

Normally, when I would read such a story, I would imagine the hero SOMEHOW overcoming all the obstacles and coming out victorious. That's exactly what I didn't want to do. XD
