Chapter 16 - Training and Inheritance (Part 1)

Since the day he had been inducted into the Blood Tempest Style, Fang Xiong had been training for an entire month in both the martial art and his Primate Forms.

Weirdly enough, he experienced a very quick breakthrough to the 5th layer from the 4th layer and he didn't stop there as he was already at the peak of the 5th layer and was soon to break through the 6th layer.

His new teacher, Freya, was constantly flabbergasted by her new student. His training speed was something she'd seen before but the pure tenacity he showed no matter how powerful he became and the way he constantly pushed his limits, was something she found very admirable for a 13-year-old.

Fang Xiong figured that the incident at the punching machine and his strength increasing by 500kg had pushed him to the top of the 4th layer of the Houtian Realm and that, along with his great foundation, was why he quickly broke through to the next layer. Other than this theory, Fang Xiong didn't know exactly what else could have led to his new training speed.

Nonetheless, he didn't just make progress in Cultivation. He'd reached a basic level in the Blood Tempest Martial Art's stances and could hold his own against a severely handicapped Freya.

There were many, many levels to the mastery over the martial art and the few ones Freya had told him were as such: Basic, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Superior. Fang Xiong knew there were levels after this but no matter how much he asked Freya, she wouldn't tell him. Instead, she told him that she would tell him when he reached Superior Mastery of the Martial Art.

In his usual muscle-brained fashion, Fang Xiong didn't take this as the teasing joke it was meant to be taken as and instead doubled his training on the martial art.

He found out that it was especially effective against groups when Freya took him to the Formation Training Rooms. These rooms were massive white rooms filled with special formations which could be activated by a console and the right privileges. The kind of privileges that a teacher at the academy had.

The Formations you could summon in the room were on limited by your imagination and Academy Credits. The Formation Freya set up was a simple illusion one, or that's what Fang Xiong felt up until one of the illusions stabbed him with a sword.

It turned out she mixed together a few high-grade illusion formations and some battle-orientated ones and had made an incredibly realistic battlefield for Fang Xiong to train in. So, this is where he has been training his martial art for the past month when he hasn't been training his body.

In fact, it's where he was training currently.

Fang Xiong sat in a desolate battlefield, surrounded by bodies of multiple different races. Blood had made small rives around where he was and slowly but surely started to dye the ground a permanent red.

From out of nowhere, a big figure dashed toward the meditating Fang Xiong.

The man had red skin and two horn jutting out of his forehead; a Demon.

Demons were quite naturally strong and were talented Qi Cultivators and overall fighters, so a big Demon like this, who also seemed to be a trained soldier of some kind, was something worth being wary of.

But Fang Xiong continued to sit there and only opened his eyes to look at the charging man.

His yellow eyes gave a predatory look to the horned-man and a savage smile slowly worked its way onto his face. He used his newly trained Ki Sense and looked at the man's cultivation.

"Hmm...1st layer of the Xiantian Realm...This should be fun..." Fang Xiong leisurely got up and started stretching his arms and legs while slowly walking toward the man.

Despite the Blood Tempest Style being great against groups, it was also very good one-on-one. The art didn't seem to have any weaknesses to Fang Xiong's eyes but neither did any of the other mixed-martial-arts Freya had shown him.

Seeing the man getting closer, Fang Xiong rid his head of all unnecessary thoughts as he felt a boiling hot feeling build in his chest and flood his body.

Feeling this feeling, Fang Xiong wondered what it was. The higher his cultivation, the stronger this feeling became and the more it showed up in his fights. The feeling had one purpose when it spread into his body; to cause a berserk and frenzied state in his body. It was like the feelings one desire to was to destroy everything around him.

Fang Xiong made sure to keep the feeling under his control, however. As he knew that he could go as berserk as he wanted, he'd still be taken apart by a skilled and calm martial artist. So that was why Fang Xiong made sure to aim the berserk feeling and keep it away from his mind.

He had no Idea how he did this, but he could and it worked for him.

By now, the man was right in front of Fang Xiong and he threw out a quick jab toward the teen's head. Fang Xiong flowed under this jab and using his momentum swung a sharp left hook at the man's jaw.

Caught off guard by Fang Xiong's speed, the man had no choice but to take the hit and his head was sent flying to the side with a sickening crack. After that, he fell to the floor like a stringless puppet.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

"FREYA! TURN OFF THE LIMITER ON THEM! LET THE SOLDIERS USE THEIR MARTIAL SKILLS!" Fang Xiong seeing the pathetic display of the soldier started to get angry at the memory of Freya saying she'd limit them. What was the point in limiting them? They were supposed to push him further, not die instantly to a counter-punch!

"Okay, okay, calm down!" Freya's voice was slightly omnipresent and came from every direction like some kind of God but Fang Xiong only scowled at what she said. He heard a click and the man's lifeless body disappeared before two more soldiers sprung up and rushed at him.

POV Change - Freya

Freya sighed heavily as she looked at her student. She didn't think he'd progress so quickly and even though she'd seen him progress personally, she was still immensely shocked.

His movements and attacks had lost the crudeness they'd had a month ago but kept that untamed ferocity and that unyielding spirit that would never back down only seemed to make the boy even more imposing.

She watched her only personal student smiling savagely at the approaching soldiers. Two soldiers at the 2nd Layer of the Xiantian Realm would instantly kill any other 5th Houtian Cultivator but not Fang Xiong, noooo, the little brat had to be an absolute monster and be able to fight above and beyond his cultivation level.

Freya watched as Fang Xiong made the first move and slammed his foot on the ground, throwing himself into the air above the soldiers. In the air, he spun head first and outstretched one of his legs and brought it down on top of one of the soldier's heads.

The soldier who was being aimed at brought his arms up in a cross-shaped block and his arms lit up with energy and had a silvery sheen over them; a martial skill.

The metallic sheen didn't seem to deter Fang Xiong in the slightest and he instead lit up with a yellow aura which was centered around his leg. The resulting impact was incredibly loud.

*BANG!*

The soldier on the defending end sunk into the ground and a soft crunch could be heard from his arms but he held off against the tyrannical strength Fang Xiong possessed, and the soldier even brought one of his legs out of the ground and swung it round to Fang Xiong's side.

Being in the air, Fang Xiong had no choice but to block the attack. His yellow aura flared again but this time around the arms protecting his side.

The foot connected with his arm and Fang Xiong was flung away but as he was flying through the air, he grabbed the ground with his arm and slowed himself to a stop. His yellow eyes looked up at the two soldiers who were once again charging at him. His eyes flickered with a manic expression before he also started running to meet their charges.

Each of his steps was measured and wasted no energy but that wasn't to say they were slow. In fact, they were incredibly quick and he sped off in a charge against the soldiers.

The soldier's legs lit up with their respective Qi's and also sped up. The three of them got closer and closer until they clashed.

Both of the soldiers attacked Fang Xiong but from different directions. The soldier from before sent a low kick at Fang Xiong's legs to knock him off balance while the other soldier sent a strong punch at his chest.

Feeling the pressure of both soldiers' energies on his own, Fang Xiong's excitement reached new levels and he instantly dropped to the ground.

While he was falling to the ground, Fang Xiong grabbed the incoming leg and clasped it with both his hands. Once he secured his grip, he swung his body around and straightened it abruptly, aiming his extending feet at the punching soldier's face.

The speed of the attack was quick and the attack itself was unique, so the soldiers were caught off guard and the targeted one was hit in the face with a devastating blow before being sent flying backward with a sickening crunch.

Freya looked at that move with widened eyes, "I can't believe the fighting instincts this kid has...he really surprises me sometimes..." she was genuinely surprised. And for good reason. She'd seen unique attacks before but that was from soldiers or cultivators who'd been alive for decades, if not centuries, and they had plenty of combat experience to pull off risky moves.

But Fang Xiong was a 13-year-old kid who had next to no fighting experience, so to see him successfully pull off these moves spoke massively about his talent for fighting.

Back to the fight, the soldier who's leg Fang Xiong was holding onto, brought his legs high up before slamming it down onto the ground. Fang Xiong countered this by using the momentum from the move and swinging his legs back onto the ground.

Once he got a firm footing he used the leftover momentum and lifted the soldier off the ground before slamming him back down into it.

The soldier, while dazed was perfectly fine in everything else and was slowly trying to get back up. Fang Xiong who was still holding the man's leg wasn't going to allow this and sent out a brutal stomp aimed at the soldier's head.

*Squelch!*

Fang Xiong's foot went straight through the man's head.

POV Change - Fang Xiong

The excitement in Fang Xiong's eyes slowly died out and was replaced by disappointment. He currently had 10000kg in strength, and despite only being in the 5th Layer of the Houtian Realm he had the equivalent power of a Ki Cultivator in the 1st Layer of the Xiantian Realm or a Qi Cultivator in the 5th Layer of the Xiantian Realm.

Luckily, he didn't completely outmatch opponents in the Xiantian Realm as their energies were much more effective, they could use martial skills much more freely and also when it came to Qi Cultivators their speed backed up by a martial skill was many times quicker than what Fang Xiong could produce with his body.

The only reason he could beat the illusions in the Formation Rooms was because they were just that; illusions.

No matter how good an illusion was, it would never be as good as the real thing and Fang Xiong had gotten used to the illusions way of attacking and his natural reflexes were good enough to help him win, even against the quicker illusions.

The formation slowly started fading away before Freya suddenly appeared in front of him, "Hmm...you really need to start fighting real people, the illusions here aren't pushing you that much anymore and if I raise their cultivations any higher, their pure power will just wipe the floor with you..."

Fang Xiong agreed with her, despite his annoyance at how she put it at the end.

Freya continued to ponder for a while before speaking again, "Oh well, leave it to me, I'll figure something out. You just go back to your dorm and cultivate your Ki Control and your Ki Veins, okay?" Fang Xiong nodded at his teacher's request and slowly started to walk past her.

He only hoped she sorted out problem quicker so he could get back to having fun fights as he did in the earlier days of training under her.
