Chapter 109

Chapter 109

Two thieves had waited enough inside their room. Their patience ran out along with drinks. Both of them remained in anxiousness till one thief decided to find his own peace. He thought about it for a while because it was also going to be about his associate’s solace.

“Get on your horse. We’re leaving.” The thief said.

“Don’t be so impatient. Maybe they are burying the soldier.”

“How many people does it take to bury one man? Six?”

His thoughts were readable from his face alone. The doubtful bandit stuffed his belongings inside their bag but did not put the vessel in there. The vessel was too important to be kept with clothes.

He left a coin on the table where the vessel was and rushed out with his friend. They saw the same man in armor standing in the bar. Innkeeper was with him too, though he opted to stay behind Saer. Saer saw the vessel before the robber could hide it.

“Are they?” Saer asked the innkeeper.

“Yes.” The innkeeper mumbled.

Saer pulled his sword from his waist and took off the bandit’s head with the sword motion. People drinking nearby lost their senses after seeing a decapitated man. Everybody conscious ran out of the inn. For the villagers, this was a legal affair.

The last thief saw his friend’s eyes blinking. While Saer snatched the vessel from his hands, his blinking stopped. He had a dagger on his waist but was too shaken to even reach at it.

Saer removed the lid by turning his head to other side. Nothing came out.

He pointed its mouth to the floor, and a bull fell from the vessel. The scared bull ran through the last thief. Saer kept shaking it till a bunch of goats landed on floor. The goats ran on the bandit’s pulped body. Saer continued to shudder it and hundreds of coins fell from the vessel.

Saer kneeled to check what the coins were made of. He doubted it was the currency of western region of Ouskerus but he was not sure. He was sure about one thing though. They were gold coins. Saer held the big coin and admired it till he heard a thread stretching behind his back.

He touched his back, only to realize the crossbow wasn’t on his back. When he turned, he saw the innkeeper aiming the crossbow at Saer’s exposed head. The helm became his darling in a sudden.

“I want the vessel.” The innkeeper said.
