Letters V Part 2
After a couple minutes, Mutai came accross is old enemies, goblins. In fact, he came accross a goblin cave. He decided that exterminating an entire cave of goblins by himself would more than likely get him to level 10. Since, from his understanding, level 10 was where most normal people end up before they die, if he accomplised something that an ordinary person never would by themselves, that should move him into the 10+ range.
Unfortunately for the goblins, he was right.
Until Mutai was was within 25 meters he couldn't see the levels of the goblins. Once he was within range, he saw that most of the goblins were around level 6-8, with a few level 12 and one level 20. The level 12 goblins all had shortbows, and the level 20 had a set of rusted iron armor and a shortsword. Because Mutai was a more of a short-range control street fighter type, ranged attacks were his weakness. Aproaching fom the front wasn't going to work. Mutai needed to either lure them out into the forest or wait until nighttime to attack. After some consideration, he realized that goblins probably have low-light vision like him. Thus he shouted loudly and then moved to a tree 10 meters back and climbed it, waiting for the scout.
"Before they show up... show combat stats."
A window Mutai had recently found out about appeared.
Health241Mana90Stamina220Attack6-16Defence4-10M.Attack1-7M.Defence0
It's important to note that critical attacks, which occur when striking a crital area and not by luck, deal extra damage and cause status effects.
In other words, Mutai was only able to defeat his enemies using unconventional attack patterns, sketchy methods, and crital attacks. His equipment, although strange and unique, was garbage compared to any other player his level.
By drawing out individual goblin scouts, he could turn this encounter into a series of one-on-one duels, which he was confident he could win. This was assuming goblins were stupid enough to send scouts by themselves when they heard a mysterious creature shouting. Especially one that sounded human, a species that they enjoyed capturing alive for various goblin reasons. Thus, a party of 4 goblins approached Mutai. One of them was an archer.
Unfortunately for Mutai, while normally archers are the weakest in a group of soldiers, in a group of low level goblins archers are a lot stronger than normal goblins. The fact that simply having a short bow increased a goblin's level bby at least 2 is a testament to how important items are to the game's evaluations of monsters. It also increased the health of the goblin.
It should be noted that these benefits extended to monsters because in some situations, like when a claim flag is laid down, they could actualy be permanenty killed unlike players or even some npcs. In fact, Mutai didn't know at all, but the DevLords had activated perma-death on his account, so he could now permanently kill and be killed.
Mutai screeched like a drop bear and landed on the goblin archer, his heel landing on on the small green monsters back.
You have dealt 12 critical damage(228/240). You have received 2 recoil damage. Enemy goblin archer(228/240) has been floored!
After landing, he grabbed the shortbow and threw it into the bushes. The other three unarmed goblins turned around and with loud screachs grabbed at him. Mutai backed off the archer, kicking it swifty in the crouch, then ran away.
You have dealt 20 critical damage(208/240). Enemy goblin archer(208/240) has been stunned! Sprint activated.
He began running into the trees, circling the area the archer was laying. Whenever the three other goblins moved too far out, he went back and attacked the injuried archer. After a few minutes the three goblins gave upa nd ran back to their cave, leaving the archer to his fate.
You have killed golbin archer. You have gained a level. You are now level 6. Automatic stat distribution used. 5 points distributed to Vitality.
A larger hunting party was organized to hunt for the "cat-man" monster, who used cruel tactics that even goblins found unnecessary. For the rest of the day and late into the night, the golbins found of what it was like to be hunted by a ruthless predator. Everytime they sent a group out, one would not return. Sometimes without the group even noticing. Mutai had learned that his strange principle of only using his feet for combat still allowed him to choke out goblins. So, he used his legs to pull them up, knock them unconscience, then kcik them to death. For his efforts, he was rewarded.

The young, old, and female goblins had already been evacuated. The Cheiftan, the level 20, stood facing Mutai.
"You show yourself now?"
"Now that its just you and me, I don't need to hide. I can just fight normally."
"Hmmphf. Some honor, at least. Don't chase the others."
"Wasn't planning on it. You ready? I'm coming!"
Mutai charged at the Cheiftan! At the end, he chose idiotic honor for the hardest fight. The Chieftan was ready and prepared his sword, issuing a warcry.
Goblin Cheiftan Level 20 (600/600) used War Cry. Intimidation applied, Aggro drawn. -20% Damage for 10 seconds. Next attack must hit Golbin Cheiftan.
When he was with a couple of meters, Mutai began circling the cheiftan while aproaching him. He paid extra care to always stay away from the chieftan's sword arm. Mutai waited until the War Cry wore off, then aimed a kick at the cheftan's waist.
You have dealt 0 damage to golbin chieftan.
The harsh reality of Mutai's situation appeared! Since the chieftan was wearing armor, there was almost no way to deal any damage when attacking. Moreover, the cheiftan took this chance to attack Mutai.
Goblin chieftan has dealt 20 damage to you(221/241).
"%#^#^!"
Truely a desparate situation for Mutai. In a flash of narrator manipulated inspiration, Mutai began to think about trying to make a magical attack. Certainly, the one thing he need was a way to deal a lot of damage that bypassed his enemies armor. An attack that, while incapable of piercing the heavens, could pierce iron armor would make this fight possible. But how would he go about doing this? Mutai was not a skilled mana manipuator. He is not, as evident by how long it took him to acquire the meditation skill, naturally in tune with nature. He had never read anything about magical manipulation and lacked the so called "anime inspiration" ability to just come up with a theory about it. Thus he could only try really hard and force it to occur.
20 minutes later, still fighting the golbin chieftan, Mutai finally decided to just go for it and see what happens. He changed from circling the chieftan to charging at him, then did a flying corkscrew kick right for the chest.
In Mutai's head, while flying in the air.
"Pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce pierce...."
You have created a skill "Prototype Pierce Through".You have used all your mana in creating the skill. You have pierce through and destroyed the goblin cheiftan's heart. Goblin Chieftan LVL20 has been slain. You have gained a level. You are now level 10. Automatic stat distribution used. 5 points distributed to Vitality. Stat distribution permanently disabled. Level system deamed irrelavent for you by DevLords. You are now Stage 1.
Prototype Pierce ThroughSelf-made Active(LVL1)In an attempt to make a magic skill that pierces through armor, your lack of skill in using mana accidently created a far more devistating skill. This skill causes your whole body to pass through a target and deal garunteed critical damage to the target. Must be in contact with target and have sufficent momentum to pass through taget body. Can target specific internals based on how contact is made.
Warning: If you do not have enough momentum to pass through the target within one second, you will be stuck inside the target.
Mana Cost 200*(LVL/2)
If Mana is insufficeint, will use all current mana and the remainder will be converted to addition stamina cost
Stamina Cost 10*(LVL)
Always deals critical damage
Mutai decided that he needed a break. Thus he logged out for a couple of minutes to rest before logging in and heading into Eyclin.
