Vol 3 Chapter 10: The Snowy Top part 3

Foin swiftly walked down to his underground base with a grin on his face. Down, Énilo and Gobu waited for him with concern in their eyes.

"We have some salt meat and some extra pelts... also, this new suit works wonderfully! I didn't feel cold at all outside. Also... It seems I will have to leave for some time..."

Foin said as he realised how recklessly he had just agreed to go with Linyer. All he was focused on was the quest from which he had hoped to gain some sort of important new thing, a skill, an upgrade, a seed, or something he had never got before.

"Wait, what? Master? I am going with you!"

Énilo responded instantly and glared into his eyes. Her glare was something Foin had never encountered before, causing him to sigh.

"Fine... but someone needs to stay here... and since the ant and the dragon seem to be sleeping Gobu, you will need to stay here to keep things maintained."

As Foin said, Énilo glared back at Gobu, who was not expecting such a task, but she dared not refuse due to Énilo's grin. She knew better than to go against her.

"I... I see... I will do my best to keep things maintained in that case!"

"You two should take a bath together again while I am using the fire here. Last time, you two seemed to have enjoyed bathing together."

Foin said with a chuckle. His words made Gobu turn white; despite her distinct green colour, she still got more water than usual. Énilo only grinned as she kept gazing into the goblin's eyes.

Since Foin was still wearing his new clothes, he grabbed a large piece of burning wood and brought it to the bathroom to heat the water up, and then put another one next to it.

But then he instantly walked into the storage. He wanted to be as prepared as possible; he wanted to take the sword with him. But first, he needed to make a scabbard to make it easier to be carried around.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

So he opened up a peteach to make a basic scabbard around the sword. In the meanwhile, the girls had entered the bathroom, and were waiting for the water to heat up. Foin wanted to bathe as well, but he knew that it was better to let them have some fun and relax before him.

In a short span of time, he managed to make some simple scabbards, which covered the whole blade, and after lifting it up, Foin realised that it was capable of preventing the blade from slipping out, as he could just slightly lift the weapon up along with its sheath. He was thinking of adding something to the blade so that he could attach it to either his back or to his side, but then he gave up on that idea.

It was better to just hold it; at least with its new scabbard, it would not cut things, especially if he was riding a carriage.

"What the hell even is that quest?"

Foin mumbled as he once again looked at the task. And then he stood up. He quickly brought a few items out to the campfire: a few plates and the largest free pot he could find.

He thought that now that he had salt and meat, he might as well try to make some sort of soup. Since he still had his high insulation cloths, he put the pot straight into the fire and then added some water to it.

From his inventory, he pulled out a single meat and put it onto a plate. Seeing the size difference and the fact that cutting it would be quite difficult, he quickly made a few much larger plates and a board that he could use for cutting.

Although everything was made of peteach, they were perfect for him. He quickly put the massive chunk of meat onto the cutting board and started slicing a larger chunk off. He then proceeded to cut it into many, much smaller pieces. The tiny meat cubes were all dropped into the pot.

Since he had no sharp tools other than the sword, he used them to cut the meat. He was quite clumsy with it but managed to make do with it. He cut the rest of the large chunk of meat into many relatively larger chunks and then, using a few sticks planted into the ground, started roasting them.

"I am not a great cook... I hope I will not screw this up..."

Foin mumbled as he took out a few potatoes, and using his blunt peteach knife, he started pulling its skin off. He peeled a large number of potatoes, and then, using the knife, he tried cutting them into smaller pieces. Although he wasted a lot, he managed to cut even with the dull blade.

The next step was taking out one of the large chunks of salt, and with the help of a spoon and a cup, Foin started chiselling off some salt. To prevent the block of salt from absorbing too much moister, once he had some usable amount of salt, he instantly put the block back into his inventory.

He didn't even realise how accustomed he was to the usage of the inventory or living in this new world in general. The way he moved around and looked at things showed that he had already got mostly used to living there. He no longer really thought of his past world. The thought of finding a way back home didn't even cross his mind at all.

"Phew... I can't wait to eat something proper... I am so lucky that Linyer brought some meat..."

Foin mumbled as he sat by the pot and watched as it was boiling. He put a pinch of salt into it and then looked at the meats which were being roasted around the fire. He slightly turned them around so that the meat was evenly roasted.

He just kept looking and carefully moving the meats or stirring the soup for many long minutes. Eventually, he decided it was time to put the potatoes and peppers in.
