Chapter 9: Lunch

My father's words carried a weight of wisdom as he looked back and forth between Eric and me. "My sons, you both put up a good fight, but always remember that you are brothers," his voice held a note of earnestness.

"A loss or a win should not be the reason for a rift to form between the two of you."

As I absorbed my father's heartfelt advice, a heavy truth weighed on my mind, a secret that he remained blissfully unaware of: the dark revelation that his son, my brother, had poisoned and killed the old Damien.

'If only he knew the truth, his words of reconciliation might have taken a different tone, directed not just at our fighting but at the underlying secrets that threatened to tear our family apart'.

I put on a convincing smile, burying my inner turmoil beneath a facade of reconciliation, and extended my hand towards Eric. It was a gesture laden with unspoken words, an offering of peace despite the dark secrets that lingered between us. He regarded my hand with a mixture of surprise and uncertainty, clearly taken aback by my sudden willingness to call a truce.

"Father is right, Eric," I said, my voice earnest, "no matter what, above all else, we are brothers."

The tension in the air seemed to ease as our hands met, a symbolic bridge between our differences.

Yet, Ethan's impatience with our familial drama was palpable as he interjected with a roll of his eyes.

"Get this over with so you and I can train, Damien," Ethan grumbled, highlighting the urgency to move past the reconciliation.

I released Eric's hand, and he walked away without casting a backward glance. There was a silent promise of a fierce rivalry that hung in the air as he spoke, "One month from now, I'll show you what real power is."

With a confident smirk, I retorted, "I can't wait to prove you wrong, Eric."

I turned to face my father and Ethan, their expressions a mix of surprise and disbelief. Their gazes were fixed on me as if they were looking at a demon in human form.

"You haven't even fully yet mastered your werewolf form and can already take down your 21-year-old brother," my father said, his words heavy with a blend of astonishment and pride.

It was clear that my progress and abilities had surpassed their expectations, leaving them both in awe and, perhaps, a touch of apprehension.

Ethan's hearty laughter echoed through the clearing, a sound filled with both amusement and genuine pride. He slapped my shoulder with a force that would have sent an ordinary person flying, but I stood my ground, thanks to my supernatural strength.

Ethan's laughter subsided into a warm smile as he looked at me. "You have just taken the first step, Damien", his tone a mixture of admiration and genuine brotherly affection.

"So remember, there's always more to learn, especially with our unique abilities."

I nodded in agreement with a smile. "You're right, Ethan. I won't let my guard down"

Our father chimed in, his stern expression softening as he addressed us. "Indeed, boys. Strength is essential, but never forget the importance of family and unity. We're a rare breed, and we must stand together."

We nodded in agreement, but then, our father's tone shifted, and he added, "Don't forget lunch either, it'll be served at 2 pm, and that Avyanna Villin and her parents will be joining us."

Before we could respond, his figure inexplicably blinked out of existence, leaving us momentarily bewildered by his abrupt departure.

Ethan's amusingly commented, "Can't wait to see your fiancée, huh? We better get going then and start training then"

I was about to inquire further when he placed his hands on my shoulders, and the world around me blurred into a whirlwind. Before I could even finish my sentence, I blinked, and suddenly, we were in a forest.

My eyes widened in astonishment, and I stammered, "You... you teleported us?"

Ethan chuckled, his tone laced with a hint of pride. "You'll be able to do this when you're stronger, so don't be too shocked."

As you both stood in the unfamiliar forest, your senses took in the sights and sounds of this new environment. Towering trees cast dappled shadows on the forest floor, and the air was filled with the earthy scent of nature. The sounds of roars in the distance indicated the dangers that lie within.

"Where are we Ethan ?" I look around with excitement. I've only been surrounded by walls since I transmigrated into this world.

"The Black Glades Forest, its teeming with beasts and demons of unknown power, the perfect place to hone your abilities" He looks at me with a crazy grin

He walks in "Come on, I sense a Spiritual Beast a few miles away from us, its perfect for you to practice"

Suddenly I wonder if I made the correct decision by agreeing to train with him. I shrug my shoulders and follow him
