As I looked at my siblings, Eric and Raina, I noticed their shocked and confused expressions. It was clear that my appearance had caught them off guard, and part of me felt satisfied by their reaction. However, I knew that my siblings had played a role in the death of my predecessor, the previous owner of this body. While I had died in my sleep on Earth and been reincarnated in this new body, I felt a deep sense of loyalty to my predecessor and was determined to seek justice on their behalf.
Ethan's face lit up with excitement as he stood out of his seat, his eyes fixed on me. "Damien, you look incredible! You're even stronger than the last time I saw you," he exclaimed, his voice full of admiration. I turned towards him, feeling a sense of pride mixed with awkwardness as I flashed a hesitant smile. "Thanks, Ethan. I've taken your advice, big brother,".
Eric cleared his throat, interrupting the moment of mutual admiration between Ethan and me. "Ahem, he's right, brother. Weren't you poisoned?" he said coldly, a sneer appearing on his lips as he stared me down. I felt a pang of discomfort in my chest, knowing that Eric had always harbored ill feelings toward me.
"Eric, that's enough," Raina interjected, her tone icy as she shot a disapproving glare at Eric. "Our dear brother survived, and that's all that matters," she continued, her voice dripping with insincere sweetness. She turned her gaze towards me, but her smile didn't quite reach her eyes, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being targeted by two vipers.
My mother's voice cut through the tension in the room, and she guided me to sit next to her. "Enough," she said firmly. "Breakfast is getting cold. Let us eat." Her tone was calm and controlled, and I could feel the tension in the room dissipating slightly. I took a seat next to her, feeling grateful for her presence and her ability to diffuse the situation.
"Damien," she continued, turning towards me. "You can tell us about your condition while we eat. I'm curious since I sense Arcana Energy flowing in your veins." Her eyes glinted with a mix of curiosity and concern, and I knew that she was genuinely interested in my well-being.
My father's deep voice broke through the conversation, his eyes fixed on me with a glint of excitement. "I sense it too, son. This is incredible news," he exclaimed, a wide grin spreading across his face. "You can finally gain strength and power beyond anything you ever thought possible."
I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of nervousness and gratitude as I spoke. "Thank you, Father and Mother," I began. "I don't know where to begin. When I died because of the poison, I was saved by someone very powerful. I don't know why he saved me, but he also healed my crippled Spirit Veins after discovering that my Spirit Veins were Omnificense Spirit Veins."
There was a moment of stunned silence in the room as my family absorbed this information. I could see the surprise and shock on their faces, and I knew that they were struggling to process what I had just told them.
"When I woke up, he was gone," I continued, my voice growing stronger as I spoke. "But he said that those who tried to kill me are very close to me." I glanced at Eric and Raina, feeling a sense of anger due to their betrayal.
"Can we eat now? I'm starving," Eric sneered, interrupting my story.
"I don't have time for made-up tales and he probably used some forbidden technique or ate some sort of pill to gain whatever little power he has which still doesn't change the fact he will forever be a cripple."
"Eric, watch how you speak about your little brother !" My father glares at Eric, his voice filled with anger.
Eric snorts but decides its better to not irritate our Father.
I felt a flash of anger at Eric's dismissive and mocking tone, but I forced myself to remain calm. "It's not a fake story," I replied, my voice icy. "And I didn't use any forbidden techniques or pills. I'm simply telling you what happened to me."
'He's right it is fake but l can't tell anyone about the system not even my family

Eric rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath, but he didn't say anything else.
My mother interjected, "Let's eat, its good that you're okay now but I'm sure you're starving, Damien"
As my mother spoke, the maids entered the room, carrying trays filled with steaming dishes. The aroma of freshly cooked food wafted through the air, making my mouth water. I couldn't help but notice the feast that had been prepared for us: crispy bacon, sausages, ham, golden scrambled eggs, fluffy pancakes, and an assortment of fresh fruits and pastries.
As we began to eat, my father asked, "So, Damien, how are you feeling? Did you notice any changes in your body or abilities?"
I took a bite of the bacon and chewed thoughtfully before answering. "Yes, actually," I said, swallowing. "I feel stronger, more agile, and my senses are sharper. And I've noticed that I have a heightened awareness of the Arcana Energy around me."
My mother's eyes widened in surprise. "That's incredible," she said, her tone full of wonder. "I always knew you were truly a rare and special individual."
I felt a sense of pride at her words, but I didn't let it show on my face. Instead, I continued to eat, savoring the delicious flavors of the food. It was a welcome distraction from the tension that still hung in the air, the unspoken resentment between my siblings and me.
As I savored another bite of the delectable food, the mechanical voice of the system abruptly intruded on my thoughts. "Mission accomplished. Your reward has been deposited in the designated section of your status page," it announced, devoid of any emotion or inflection. The interruption caught me off guard, causing me to pause mid-chew.
"Is everything alright, Damien?" Ethan inquired, noticing my sudden change in demeanor.
I quickly composed myself and replied, "Oh, it's nothing. I was just caught off guard by something. How was your trip back from Dreake City? I hear the demons have been particularly active there lately."
Ethan nodded, his face grave. "Yes, it was a difficult battle. The demons seem to be getting stronger by the day."
At that moment, my mother spoke up, apologizing for not asking about Ethan's journey earlier. As we continued to eat, the tense atmosphere began to dissipate, and we chatted about our respective experiences and plans for the future.
As we were finishing breakfast, my father spoke up suddenly. "Before I forget, Damien, your fiancée will be coming to see you at lunch," he announced.
I nearly choked on my food in surprise. "What!? I have a fiancée?" I exclaimed.
The confusion was palpable among my family members, except for Eric, who snickered at my expense. I could feel my face turning red with embarrassment.
"Oh, brother, don't tell me the poison made you lose your memories of your dear fiancée," Raina giggled, adding insult to injury.
Realizing my mistake, I quickly sifted through my memories and recalled the face of my fiancé, Avyanna. "Oh, yes, Avyanna. I can't wait to see her," I said, trying to cover up my lapse in memory. "I have to go test out my new power at the training grounds."
"Weren't you always afraid of meeting her, brother? Or does your fake 'power' make you think you're finally worthy of her?" Eric mocked, his words dripping with sarcasm.
The tension in the air was palpable as Eric's words hung in the room like a thick fog. I could feel my blood boiling and my heart pounding in my chest. How dare he mock me like this? Except this time my wolf is speaking
Before I could even open my mouth to respond, Ethan stood up from his seat, his eyes blazing with a fiery red glow. He towered over Eric, his muscles bulging with anger as he growled out his warning.
"Shut it, Eric," he snarled. "That's enough. Or do you want me to show you what real power is?"
Eric's smirk faded away, replaced by a look of fear as he took a step back. He knew better than to mess with Ethan, especially when he was like this.
My father stares at Eric and Ethan with predatory glint in eye.
"You know how I don't tolerate this behavior so both of you better not do this again while we're having breakfast, understand ?"
Ethan backs down and snorts.
While Eric nods and keeps his head down.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my own emotions. I couldn't let Eric get the best of me like this.
"I'm not afraid of meeting her," I said, my voice steady and firm. "And my power is not fake. You will see for yourself soon enough."
My mother spoke up next, her voice even stronger than my father's. "And as for your fiancée, Damien," she said, "you should be grateful to have someone willing to accept you for who you are, powers or not. Don't let anyone make you doubt yourself."
Their words brought a sense of comfort to me, even though l have not met Avyanna in my life but l can feel my predecessor loves this woman
"I won't let anyone make me doubt myself," I said, my voice steady. "Avyanna will see that I am worthy of her."
I finally accepted my new Identity fully, I am Damien and Damien is I.
My parents nodded in approval, and I could sense the tension in the room dissipates. With their love and support, I knew I could face anything that came my way, even the demons that plagued our city.
I stood up from the table, determined to prove Eric wrong. "I'll see you all later," I said as I made my way to the door. "I have some training to do."
"Be careful, Damien," my father called out after me. "Don't overdo it. We will join you to see your progress in a bit"
"Alright and I won't, Father," I replied with a smile before heading out.
