Chapter 3: Meeting The Family

Chapter 3: Meeting The Family

I stare at the status window in disbelief as the reward suddenly disappears before my eyes. "What? It's a one-time use reward? I wish I had known that," I mutter to myself, feeling frustrated that I had unknowingly wasted such a valuable asset.

Despite my disappointment, I try to stay positive.

"Well, you win some, you lose some,"

I remind myself, taking a deep breath. Suddenly, the voice of the Omniscient System interrupts my thoughts.

"Host, try refreshing the status window. You may be pleasantly surprised by the changes," it advises.

As I gaze upon my new and improved status, a wave of confidence washes over me. I feel ready to take on anything that comes my way, equipped with newfound strength and abilities.

"l want to see myself in a mirror",

I walk over to the mirror in the room to get a look at myself. As I stand before the mirror, I take in my appearance.

I see a young man with a, 5'11 lean but muscular build, and a strong jawline. Dark, luscious hair cascades down my shoulders, framing my handsome face. My eyes are a striking blue color, which contrasts with my slightly tanned skin.

As a Royal Moon Wolf, you possess some unique physical features that distinguish you from ordinary humans. However, you can't transform since your Wolf is dormant.

Overall, you appear to be in good physical condition, with a powerful aura emanating from you. You can't help but feel a sense of pride as you take in your reflection.

dark, luscious hair cascades down his shoulders, framing his handsome face, which despite its youthful appearance, is strikingly attractive.

'Hot damn, lm fine !'

However, before I can delve further into my thoughts, a knock echoes through my room, causing me to quickly turn to the bedroom door in panic.

"Who could that be?" I mutter to myself, my heart racing.

As I approach the door I hear a male voice calling out

"Damien, brother, I'm com-"

Before l can reach the door, it swings open to reveal a tall, broad man standing before me.

My eyes widen as I take in the sight of the man before me. He stands at least six and a half feet tall, with a broad, muscular build that commands attention. His chiseled features are accentuated by a sharp jawline and piercing blue eyes that seem to stare right through me.

His short, sandy blonde hair is styled neatly, framing his face. He wears a black leather jacket over a simple white t-shirt that hugs his muscular frame tightly, emphasizing his broad shoulders and bulging biceps. Dark jeans cling to his powerful legs, and a pair of boots with thick soles complete the look.

As he steps into the room, I can feel his presence fill the space, his confidence and strength practically emanating from him. Despite his imposing size, there's a warmth in his smile and worry in his eyes that put me at ease.

"Hey, little brother" he greets me with a booming voice, clapping a hand on my shoulder. Before staring at me curiously with strange look in his eyes

"Damien, you seem to have changed...almost as if you have gotten stronger"

I feel a mix of emotions as I look up at my older brother. Relief floods through me that he's here and seems to genuinely care about me. But at the same time, there's a twinge of resentment and fear.

Resentment that he wasn't here when my predecessor needed him the most, and fear that he will notice I'm no longer the old Damien, but a different person altogether.

I force a smile and try to shake off the uneasy feeling.

"Yeah, I've been working on myself," I reply, hoping to sound confident. "I've had to adapt to survive."

My brother nods, his eyes scanning over me as if trying to read something in my features.

"I see," he says, a hint of approval in his voice. "Well, that's good. It's always important to be able to take care of yourself."

I nod in agreement, grateful that he seems to have accepted my response.

"So, what brings you here Ethan?" I ask, changing the subject.

"I came as soon as I found out that Raina and Eric tried to kill you, I left the battlefield in Dreake City," he responds, his voice laced with concern and anger.

"That place is infested with demon scum, but nothing is more important than family."

I can hear the conviction in his voice, and I know that he means every word. Despite our differences, from my memories Ethan has always been there for my predecessor when it counts.

"I'm glad you're here," I say, a small smile creeping onto my face. "I could use all the help I can get."

"You don't seem like someone who just survived an attack. How did they try to kill you?"

l takes a deep breath before l go through my memories.

"It was a sneaky move on their part. I didn't suspect a thing until I started feeling the effects of the poison. It was a slow-acting one, meant to kill me gradually without any immediate symptoms. But luckily, Father was able to identify the poison and neutralize it before it could do any real damage."

Ethan's face darkens with anger as he listens to my account of what happened.

"Those two will pay for what they did to you, brother. No one gets away with trying to harm a member of our family."

l nod in agreement, grateful for my brother's support.

"I won't rest until they face justice for their actions. But for now, we need to focus on keeping me safe and finding out what their next move will be."

Ethan puts a reassuring hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, little brother. I'm here now, and together, we'll make sure they never lay a hand on you again."

I look up at Ethan with gratitude and relief, knowing I can count on my brother to help me. "Thanks, Ethan"

"let's sit down, l have to tell you something" l walk over to the couch

"Sure," Ethan says, following Damien over to the couch. He sits down beside him, looking at him. "What is it?" he asks, his tone serious.

"l can sense Arcane Energy now and my Spirit Veins are healed"

Ethan's eyes widen in surprise. "That's amazing, Damien!" he exclaims, clearly impressed. "How did you manage to do that?"

"I can't tell you that yet, but you will know soon enough, for now, l want to know what Arcana level you are on" I reveal.

"That's okay, I'm sure you are on the Mortal Rank, there are the 3 stages in this rank" He looks at me to see if l understand then continues.

"Early Stage, Middle Stage, and Peak Stage, you then you breakthrough to the next Rank"

"What Rank is that ?" I say with anticipation

"I'm getting there, as long as you have sufficient Arcana and understanding of your current realm, a breakthrough is as easy breathing"

"The next Ranks after the Mortal Rank are, Spirit Rank, Spirit Core Rank, Royal Rank, Royal Core Rank, Emperor Rank, and the Emperor Core Rank" Ethan explains,

"I'm at the peak stage of the Royal Rank"

I nod, taking in the information. "That's impressive, Ethan. I didn't realize you had advanced so far in the Arcana ranks."

Ethan chuckles. "I've been working on it for a while now. It takes a lot of time and dedication to reach higher ranks, but the rewards are worth it."

I nod again, feeling a sense of admiration for my brother. "I hope to reach the Royal Rank someday too."

"You will," Ethan replies with confidence. "Just keep practicing and refining your Arcana abilities, and you'll get there in no time."

"Speaking of Arcana, what is 'omnificicense' "

"I think you mean ' Omnificense', Damien," Ethan corrects with a small smile. "It's the ability to have unlimited power and control over everything. It's a concept often associated with a supreme being or deity."

I gasp with awe. "Is it possible for a mortal to attain such power?"

Ethan shrugs. "It's not something that has ever been documented, but who knows? With enough understanding and control over Arcana, anything is possible. However, it's important to remember that power can corrupt and lead to destructive consequences if not wielded responsibly."
