Chapter 4 - Tomb of Alzu'rak Part 2*

Chapter 4 - Tomb of Alzu'rak Part 2*

* Third Person POV *

Yuna Everblade, also known as the Sword Princess, was currently regretting a lot of things.

The first thing she is regretting is entering this god damn dungeon, filled with undead to the brink. The second thing she regrets is entering it alone and her finale regret is, being stupid enough to think she could single handedly kill the Endboss.

'How foolish of me' she thought. Luckily, she was able to escape this abomination of a boss, but her wounds are severe. She has a decent amount of vitality, which means that she usually could just heal herself back up, but that's not possible here. The whole last floor is cursed and absolute no healing is possible down here, no matter if it's magic or natural healing. Yuna clenches her hands to fists and tries to think about a way out of this. 'status', she mumbles.

-Status- Name: Yuna Everblade Class: Blade Master Level: 1612 Race: Human Fame: 4043

'Shit, my health went down again'. The Sword Princess is losing hope, but then she suddenly hears a Voice! 'am I saved?' she thought, while the voice draws near.

*8 hours prior to this encounter*

While going down the stairs to the second floor I eat the remaining bones in my bag to heal up. A few of my teeth broke when I bit the Priest. Now that I think about it, didn't I get some EXP at the beginning of my new 'un-life' by eating the bones of my family? Why didn't get any for Ron or his girlfriend? What's the difference? Hm, maybe it's because my wife and daughter were both mages? Mages are filled with mana, every cell in their body and every bone has mana in it. Shit, if that's the reason I really regret not getting the bones of that priest and the mage. Hm, but wasn't Ron’s girlfriend also a mage?

What else could it be? Seems like I'll have to do some tests, huh? While pondering about that I enter the second Floor. Let's hope that my theory about the monsters ignoring me is indeed correct, otherwise I'm dead. Dungeons get harder and harder the farther down you go. The first-Floor boss in this Tomb is level manageable by a party of level 100 adventures, the second floor can be conquered by level 150s, the third 200 and so on. The last boss on floor 32 is level 1650. That's pretty high for a dungeon in such a remote location, but there are way harder dungeons. The hardest of them can’t even me conquered by the legendary X-ranked adventurer that are above level 4000!

Interestingly enough, this dungeon still has never been cleared before. I don't know why, but there seems to be some kind of curse on the last floor that makes adventures really uncomfortable.

Alright, there's a skeleton coming my way. Let's see if he's going to attack me or not. The silver skeleton walks in my direction, but then comes to an abrupt halt. He keeps standing right in front of me for a while, jut staring in my direction.

It doesn't seem like he plans on doing anything. Let's just try passing him.

I walk past him and he keeps staring at me, though he still doesn't move. Looks like I can indeed just walk freely around here! Now I got really excited! Let's rush down to the last floor! I begin running in excitement since I'm going to be the first person clearing this dungeon! Just imaging all this great treasure fills me with joy! At least until my joy is burned by the hate deep within. What a buzz-kill.

Because of my excitement and my bad habit to forget my surroundings while having an inner monologue, I made a big mistake. You really shouldn't just run around in a Dungeon without being careful. I step on some strange pressure plate and activate a mechanism and before I realize what happened, the ground beneath my feet just vanishes.

Right, there were traps in dungeons, huh? Shit. I fall for a while and crash against the bottom of a pit.

Huh? I didn't know...

Skeletons co- could loose conc-

A bit later I wake up surrounded by corpses. Damn it, how deep did I fall? How long was I unconscious? I have no fucking idea. I try to stand up but realize I can't.

Taking a look at my body I it seems like most of it shattered when I crashed against the floor. I don't have any legs left and most of my lower torso is also gone. Luckily, I at least still have an arm.

I should be a lot more careful in the future. I'm sure if this mountain of corpses beneath me wasn't here, I would be dead. That's scary... Anyway, I have to heal up so I turn around and start ripping flesh apart to get to the bones. I will need to eat a lot in order to fully recover.

Two hours and a lot of bone eating later I'm as good as new! Also, look at this:

Level up! (x2)

+1 STR; +1 DEX; +9  INT; +3 VIT; +1 END

Yeah, I levelled up once again by eating bones and I now know how! I noticed getting EXP for eating the bones of the adventures that wore shiny armor or white robes, which means they were paladins, priests or clerics. My wife and daughter prayed every evening to one of the Higher Gods. So, I gain EXP by eating the bones of religious people? Interesting. I'm currently looking through the mountain of corpses and take everything that seems useful, including all the Gold. After eating some more Priest bones I get another message:

The Gods from deep down below are spending attention to you!

Down below? The hell is this? I never heard of the 'Gods from deep down below'. I know there are the Higher Gods like 'Iriande, Goddess of light' or 'Vulgrim, God of War' and the Lower Gods like 'Dria, Goddess of Harvest' and 'Brumdril, God of Wine', but gods from down below? What does that even mean? Desperately for an answer I keep searching for priest and cleric bones and eat all I can find.

Level up! (x1)

+0.5 STR; +0.5 DEX; +4.5INT; +1.5 VIT; +0.5 END

Sadly, I ran out of corpses before I get another messages concerning those gods. Saddened I look around and search for an exit and quickly find one. I leave this pit, without taking any armor or weapons from those corpses since most of them were already too damaged, either because of the fall or because of time.

After leaving this great dining room I'm surprised to find myself in another strange place instead of the dungeon I expected. This room looks like the laboratory of a crazy scientist. Corpses are bound on their feet, hanging from the ceiling, bodies are lying around on stone beds with their chest cut open and organs missing and on some of the beds lie strange abominations that look like they were made by combining a bunch of limbs from different corpses. To be honest it's a pretty interesting sight. It feels like I'm looking into the mind of a mad man. I gu-

“Hm? Who are you?”

I'm not even going to get mad about this whole 'interrupting my inner monologues' thing anymore. It's becoming a fucking running gag at this point.

“What are you doing in here? Hm? Aren't you way too weak to be down here? You look more like a first-floor skeleton.”

I turn around to see an Old man, wearing an bloody apron. Seems like he's the one responsible for this room of horrors, it also seems like he thinks I'm part of the Dungeon.

“What’s this stone on your forehead? Let me take a look at it.”

What should I do? I really want to know what this stone is as well but I don't think it's a good idea to let this madman come close to me. Also, he's old, like really old! He doesn't seem strong at all as well. Let's enjoy this meal.

* Clack clack clack *

I cast Frost cage on him and my Ice spears pierce his legs. He screams, but seems to be more surprised than hurt.

“Wha- what?! What are you doing? What kinda magic is this?!”

'The good kind' is what I would like to say if only I could talk...

Congratulation! Your Elementary Frost Magic leveled up to Intermediate Frost Magic!

Oh? That's awesome! I got 3 new spells! let's test them out!

* Clack clack clack *

I cast 'Ice Shards' and 4 Ice projectiles form in front of me and shoot towards the old man in high speed. They shred this guy to pieces.

That was extremely effective. I really shouldn't have started with this spell... I always forget my enormous amount of INT! I have 75 more then I should at my level because of my title. I quickly grab his soul before it can even think about passing to the afterlife and swallow it.

Level up! (x2)

+1 STR; +1 DEX; +9 INT; +3 VIT; +1 END

Nice, two whole levels from one soul! This guy really was quite old, huh?

Congratulations! You have reached your Maximum Level! Rank up? Y/N

Oh, I already reached Level 30? I got to say, eating souls is a pretty fast way to level up. Let’s take a look at my options.

Demonic Skeleton

Silver Skeleton

Ice Skeleton *SPECIAL*

Your body will change shape to a more

Demonic one. This form increases your

Spell Power and opens the Demonic

Path For you.

You will infuse your Bone with mana,

which turns them silver. This process

increases your hardness a lot but your

spell power will decrease in the progress.

Your body turns into Ice, making you more

fragile and decreasing your fire resistance.

This form is mysterious and doesn’t have any

special abilities, but holds great potential.

Hm, deciding is a lot harder this time. By turning Silver I would get rid of my fragile body, but I don't want to lose any spell power. The Demonic Skeleton seems like a great choice but what does the 'Special' after Ice Skeleton stand for? Why is it special? Also, I never heard about a Frozen Skeleton in my Life. I really don't like the Idea of getting any more fragile then I'm already am so I guess I'm going to choose Demonic Skeleton.

“Embrace the Ice, son”

What?! Who the fuck said that?

Nobodies here... The hell was that voice I just heard? This voice sounded so cold... How pleasant. Yeah, why am I even thinking about which rank up I should choose? Of course, I'll take the coldest one since it's going to fit me the best. Alright let's become an Ice skeleton!

Congratulations! You ranked up!

+2.5 VIT ; +2.5 DEX ; +2.5 END ; +2.5 STR ; +5.5 INT ; +5 KNW

Because of your Attribute fitting your Race you gained a 20% INT increase!!

Because of your Attribute fitting your Race you gained the class Ice Mage!

What? Fuck yeah! I knew choosing an option that fits me would be the best idea! 20% more INT is insane! I even got a class! Having a Class is a big advantage since you will gain additional skills just for having it equipped, so let's equip it!

Now the next question is, how do I get out of this room? I don't see any doors... There's only this huge trapdoor in the middle of this room. Do I really have to fall again? Oh, I guess I could test out one of my new Frost spells, 'Create Ice'. I walk to the trap door and open it up. It seems pretty deep. I create some steps using my spell and try to walk on them.

Fuck.

Ice is pretty slippery, huh?

I slip and fall down.

“Fuuuuuuuuu-, huh?”

While falling and screaming I realize, I can talk! Well seems like My last rank up gave me the ability to speak, even though I have no idea how this works. Well I guess, magic? Yeah let's accept it like this and just be happ-

* THUMP *

I lose consciousness before I'm able to finish my inner monologue, it's not even funny anymore at this point.
