Chapter 117: Farewell

Chapter 117: Farewell

Moranor ate the last bit of her pumpkin pie as she placed both the wooden spoon and fork on top of the plate. Enora wiped her lips with a silk handkerchief as she placed the fork in the bowl that still had some traces of caesar dressing. Enora clapped twice as the door suddenly opened as a male elf wearing simple clothing. He pushed a trolley into the room as he quickly picked up the used plates and hurriedly walked out of the room and gave the two of them a deep bow before closing the door.

Silence filled the large dining room as the two elves didn't even look at each other from the corner of their eyes. Moranor stood up from her seat and walked toward the door while Enora was staring at her neatly trimmed nails. Enora said. "Where are you headed?" Moranor didn't stop as she opened the door, with a smirk on her lips she said. "Nowhere." Enora turned her head to look at her as her eyes filled with suspicion with a hint of confusion.

Queen's Private Room

Melanor and Elora were sitting next to each other on the edge of the bed as the two of them looked at Reiki oddly. Reiki stood near them as he patiently waited, Elora placed a hand on her chin and said. "Can't you reconsider?..." Melanor raised a brow and said. "Can't you do it yourself?" Reiki shook his head, he said. "I can't." Melanor's gaze turned slightly cold, she said. "And why is that?"

Elora's pupils started glowing as the two elves judged him, Reiki scratched the back of his head. He said. "Because if I do I won't be able to say no to your daughters." The glow in Elora's pupils slowly dissipated while Melanor's eyes turned gentle. Melanor let out a long sigh, with a hint of worry in her eyes she said. "If you do this-." Reiki interrupted her, he said. "And if I don't they'll convince me to stay."

Elora stood up from the edge of the bed and walked right in front of him and looked down straight into his eyes without blinking. Elora said. "Is this some sort of game to you?" Reiki didn't budge an inch, he said. "No, it's because I care for them that I made this choice."

Elora let out a chuckle as a smile formed on her lips, she said. "Good, when you get stronger I'll make your relationship with my daughter official." Melanor stared at Reiki, she said. "You better make it quick, Mora and Nora aren't getting any younger." As she flashed him a smile. Reiki moved his gaze to Melanor, he looked at her oddly and said. "Not going to make my relationship with your daughter official?"

Melanor let out a scoff as she pointed at him, she said. "Official? You've already swept her off her feet. Why would I even bother? Good luck with Nora though, she can be a little dense." Reiki nodded while Elora walked back to the edge of the bed and sat next to Melanor, he said. "In that case, I'll be out of your hair."

Reiki turned around and headed for the door, before he opened it he turned his head sideways to look at them and said. "Where's Cherry?" Elora was already lying down on the bed while Melanor was still taking her leather combat boots off, Melanor said. "She's outside flying away from Enrel." Reiki nodded, opened the door, walked out of the room, and closed the door behind him.

Somewhere In The Hallway

Reiki walked down the never-ending hallway and thought. Can't believe I'm getting used to it… As he looked around he faintly heard an elf screaming. "Get back here you glorified rooster!" It was followed by a kaw sound, Reiki looked to his left and saw something white quickly passed by. He thought. Found them. Something white went back the hallway it passed and flew toward Reiki. Cherry flapped her wings mid-air right in front of him, she let out another kaw and landed on his shoulder.

Reiki patted Cherry's head with his index finger and said. "Cherry, how was your day?" She let out a soft kaw and moved her head closer to Reiki's index finger. The sound of footsteps was getting closer which made the two of them look in its direction as Enrel was getting closer to them.

Her long hair that reached her waist was in a mess as she let out a long sigh and placed a hand on her neck. Enrel glared at Cherry who was on Reiki's shoulder, she said. "Consider yourself lucky." She moved her gaze onto Reiki and gave him a friendly smile, Enrel said. "You've got yourself a loyal and outstanding familiar there, Reiki." She walked past him and slapped his back making a satisfying sound.

Reiki rubbed his back while Enrel let out a laugh, Cherry flapped her wings while on his shoulder as she let out a kaw. Enrel glanced at Cherry as her pupils glowed, she said. "Don't tempt me." Which made Cherry freeze, Enrel let out a scoff as she walked down the hallway and took a right. Before Reiki could take a step Cherry let out another kaw which got his attention, he said. "What is it, girl?"

Cherry flew into the air and near the window as she tapped it twice with her talons. Reiki thought. She's too smart if you ask me… He walked next to the window as Cherry rested on his right shoulder again, he said. "You want to fly outside?" Cherry flapped her wings and let out another kaw, while Reiki was opening the window.

Cherry flew into the air and flapped her wings while outside the building near the window as she let out a kaw. Reiki nodded and said. "Sure, just be back before nightfall." Cherry let out another kaw and flew somewhere into the forest. Reiki closed the window and walked down the hallway, he thought. If I'm right it should be right around… He took a left turn and walked past a few more doors, Reiki thought. Here.

He walked near the door and placed his hand on the doorknob revealing the room he was assigned to. Reiki closed the door behind him and looked around the simple room. He sat on the edge of the bed and took off his sports shoes, and placed them beside the nightstand. Before he could lay down Reiki heard something tapping on the window, as he turned his head he saw Cherry was flapping her wings outside with something in her beak.

Reiki put on the sports shoes again without tying his shoelace, headed to the window, and opened it. He said. "What do you have there?" Cherry landed on his right shoulder as he held out his hand palm side up. Cherry moved her head closer to his hand as she opened her beak, dropping an ore of gold roughly the size of a ¥500 coin. Reiki thought. Oh… I should tell Elora about this. The ore in his hand was mostly gold that had bits of stone on it. Reiki pocketed the ore as he walked back to the edge of the bed.

He sat on the edge and took off his sports shoes along with his white socks as he laid down on the bed while Cherry flew onto the nightstand. Reiki glanced out of the window and saw that the sun was already setting. He let out a yawn and thought. They'll wake me up in an hour or so… Cherry and Reiki closed their eyes as the two of them fell to sleep.

~Eleven Hours And Thirty Minutes Later~

Reiki suddenly sat up straight on the bed as he slowly opened his left eye to look around, he thought. I overslept… He let out a yawn as he quickly put on his socks and sports shoes. Reiki saw Cherry was still standing on the nightstand sleeping, he tapped the top of Cherry's head and said. "... Cherry…" He let out a yawn and continued. "Wake up, we're going home." He thought. How did I sleep past midnight?...

Cherry slowly opened her eyes and looked around the room, she let out a very soft kaw and poked her wing using her beak. Cherry flew into the air and onto his right shoulder, Reiki looked around with only his left eye open. He thought. Window. He walked to the window, opened it, and jumped. His actions made Cherry wake up as she flew into the air flapping her wings, she let out a kaw seeing Reiki plummet to the ground from the third floor.

His clothes fluttered in the wind, when he was a few feet from hitting the ground he casted. Flash.

Reiki appeared a couple of inches above the ground and landed on the ground making a soft thud. Cherry quickly landed on his right shoulder and started pecking Reiki's head with her beak repeatedly.

Cherry also used her talons to pull on Reiki's unkempt and scraggly hair. Reiki was now wide awake as he tried to wave his arms to make her let go, he said. "I get it, Cherry! Calm down! I'll give you a heads up when I'm about to jump!" Cherry landed on the top of Reiki's head as his face had a few small scratches that were already starting to fade. Cherry pecked his forehead one last time.

As she landed back on Reiki's right shoulder. He rubbed his forehead and thought. Never knew a crow would have such a short temper… That or she's just venting from not being able to attack Enora and Enrel. Reiki's eyes narrowed as he looked to his left all of a sudden, he said. "And you are?" A male elf wearing a brown cloak with the hood up to hide his face, the elf said. "Her majesty ordered me to assist you to carry you home."

Before Reiki could say anything the elf appeared next to him as he placed an arm on Reiki's left shoulder and one on top of Cherry's head. Reiki's vision suddenly blurred as the world around him seemed to stretch, the elf moved his hands back to his side as Reiki loomed around.

Cherry let out a kaw as she flew in the air and turned into a streak of white and attacked the elf. The elf easily dodged Cherry's attack and started walking toward a direction with an angry crow behind him. Reiki said. "Hey! You're going the-!" Reiki suddenly turned around and saw Enora was staring at him with unwillingness in her eyes with her arms crossed. Enora said. "Not even willing to say goodbye."

Reiki had a helpless smile on his face as he walked toward her, when he was in front of Enora she let out a soft hmph and turned her head. He said. "That's because this isn't goodbye." Enora ignored him as she stared in the direction where the forest ends. Reiki rolled his eyes at her and hugged Enora's waist, he thought. She should be around 5'10. He looked up and saw Enora's eyes were gentle as she played with his hair, Reiki said. "You and Mora should be around 5'10, right?"

Enora ruffled his hair and said. "Moranor is 5'11, I'm 5'10… Mom, Melanor, and Enrel should be at least 5'11." Reiki thought. Close enough. Reiki's arms around Enora's waist tightened, he moved his head closer but stopped when he was about to touch her large breasts. Enora placed a hand on his head and pushed Reiki's head into her chest, her eyes filled with a hint of unwillingness. Enora said. "Do you have to go?..."

Reiki moved his head away from the middle of her cleavage and looked up, he said. "Yes, and maybe next time how about you go with a normal goodbye? That elf's acting is terrible." Enora had a sad smile on her lips as she caressed his cheek, she said. "I'm not from a normal family… Just visit when you can, if you don't you can't blame me if I suddenly kidnapped you inside human territory." Reiki flashed her a genuine smile which made her blush, he said. "I will."

Enora reluctantly let go of him, Reiki let out a chuckle and said. "I don't even know why you're so sad, it's not like I'm not going to see you again." He suddenly moved closer to Enora which caught her by surprise as Reiki hugged her, he said. "One more." He wrapped his arms around Enora's waist as she slowly moved her arms closer to him and wrapped them around his head. The two of them enjoyed each other's company in silence as a moment quickly passed by.

Reiki slowly moved his arms away from her waist as he waved at her, he said. "See you later." As he walked toward the direction the elf wearing the brown cloak was being chased by cherry. Enora waved back at him as she watched him walk away, she suddenly walked to the left. Elora was leaning on a tree not too far away from their location, Elora had a smirk on her lips. Elora said. "How's it feel to be in love?"

Enora placed a hand on her chin as she looked at the leaves on the trees, Enora said. "This… This is love?..." Elora nodded as she patted the top of her daughter's head, Elora said. "No need to worry, he'll be back." Enora moved her gaze onto her mother and said. "How can you be so sure?" Elora flashed her daughter a smile, she said. "Because you and Mora are here." Enora furrowed her brow, she said. "Why is Moranor involved?" Elora lazily waved her hand, she said. "I'll tell you later, want to see Moranor and Reiki say goodbye?" Enora's eyes widened as she nodded. Elora placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder as the two of them disappeared.

Elora and Enora appeared behind a large tree where Melanor was attentively listening. Melanor nodded at the two of them as she gave both of them a shushing gesture by placing a hand in front of her lips. The three elves carefully peaked and saw Moranor and Reiki staring at each other in silence.

Moranor's eyes were slightly watery as she tried to maintain a strong front when facing Reiki. He slowly walked towards her and placed his arms around Moranor's waist which made her entire body freeze before she also wrapped her arms around his head. Moranor deeply inhaled, she said. "C-Can you stay? For a few more days as a gift for me?..." Reiki looked up and said. "Can you squat down for me? Just for a moment." Moranor squatted down as the two of them were now the same height.

Reiki cupped her face as the two of them stared right into each other's eyes, he said. "I'll miss you." As he moved closer and kissed Moranor's forehead, Reiki continued. "I may have to go now, but I still have one last surprise for you when you return to your room." Moranor was shocked for a split second, she moved Reiki's hands away from her face using her own. Her entire face turned into a rich tomato red up to her neck as she buried her face into his chest.

Moranor stared at the ground and spoke in a whisper. "Will you come back?" Reiki caressed her hair and said. "I will. I'll promise if I have to." Moranor made a very small nod which he felt, Reiki looked to his right and said. "Is what I would say if we're not the fact three elves were watching…" Moranor quickly moved her head away from his chest as she looked to her left in the same direction he was. Melanor, Elora, and Enora appeared beside them.

Melanor and Elora had a teasing smile on their lips while Enora's eyes were cold as she glared at Moranor. Enora coldly said. "Slut." Moranor's entire face instantly turned red as she buried her face into his chest again. Enora seeing this turned furious, she said. "I bet you'd spread your legs at the first male elf that looks your way! Whore! Bitch! I'll-!" Elora placed a hand on Enora's lips, Elora let out a chuckle and said. "We'll be behind the tree, take your time."

Elora made her way to the large tree while dragging her daughter who was glaring daggers into Moranor who glued herself onto Reiki. Reiki caressed Moranor's back and head as he looked up to Melanor, he said. "I'm guessing you brought the quiver-." All of a sudden Enora shouted from the top of her lungs, screaming. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO SHARE HIM WITH HER!? THAT WHORE OF AN ELF?! I'LL KILL HER MYSELF IF THAT'S THE CASE!" Melanor and Reiki looked at the large tree. While the two of them stared at it, he said. "What happened?"

Melanor crossed her arms as a helpless smile appeared on her lips, she said. "A promise…" Reiki moved his gaze onto Moranor who refused to move and looked up to Melanor who placed a hand on her chin. Melanor said. "Long story short, since we couldn't bear a child from one another, we would have our children uphold it. But…"

Reiki raised a brow and said. "You didn't expect both of them to be female?" Melanor appeared on his left all of a sudden as she patted his left shoulder, she said. "You'll be fine… Probably… I don't see any downside to this, you get to marry two elves and both of them would be royalty." Reiki raised a brow and said. "Moranor isn't royal-." Seeing the smile on Melanor's face he stopped and continued. "Congratulations."

As he rolled his eyes at her, Reiki patted the top of Moranor's head and said. "How about you, stand up? Squatting for this long I won't be surprised if you couldn't feel your thighs anymore." Moranor slowly moved her head away from his chest as she stood up, she had a blank look on her face as she stared at a tree in a daze. Reiki looked up to Moranor and moved his gaze at Melanor, he said. "Is she going to be okay?"

Melanor nodded as she lazily waved her hand in dismissal, she said. "She's fine, thanks for the recipes." He let out a chuckle and said. "No problem, how about you give her my present when I leave?" Before Melanor could answer Elora and Enora appeared beside Melanor. Enora's eyes were cold as she glared at Moranor who was still staring at a tree in a daze, Elora faked a cough and said. "I'll make this short. I've sent an elf carrying some equipment to… Your academy…"

Elora rummaged through her pockets and took out a green pouch, she handed it to Reiki and said. "Here's a hundred (¥54,000,000) coins for my stake in your company and…" Elora rummaged through her pocket and passed him a white envelope with a red seal, she said. "A letter of acknowledgment that I have a stake in your company, allowing you to represent and negotiate on our behalf. It has my seal and signature."

Reiki quickly took out his tattered pouch and put the green pouch in and carefully placed the white envelope. He glanced at the seal and noticed it was a bow with the string being pulled with a single arrow. Elora flashed him a smile and said. "Tell me when and where to show up, I'll bring half an army with me. You and your entire family are free to stay at my house whenever you feel like it." Reiki gave Elora a genuine smile which stunned Melanor and Elora, even Enora moved her gaze onto him.

Enora's eyes turned gentle for a split second before turning back as she glared at Moranor. Reiki gave Elora and Melanor a deep bow and said. "Thank you, I'll promise to make a profitable company." Melanor rummaged her pocket and took out a talisman, she said. "Here's a long-distance talisman, make sure to check in on our daughters." Reiki placed the talisman in the tattered pouch

Elora's eyes widened, she said. "Before I forget." She rummaged through her pocket and took out a light green scarf on the edge of the scarf were two big gold letters being EQ. Elora wrapped the scarf around his neck and said. "Akihito Reiki, I acknowledge you as a friend of the elves with this scarf as a token of our friendship."

[System: User has gained Title: Friend Of The Elves.]

Reiki looked at the scarf around his neck, he said. "What if it gets stolen?" Melanor smiled and said. "Just imprint it with your mana and if anyone tried to steal it, the scarf would turn black and the letter would turn red. If any elves see, they would immediately attack and return it to." She pointed at the two big golden letters, Melanor continued. "Elora Qinleth."

Reiki placed a hand on the scarf as it was enveloped in a thin layer of mana before slowly fading. Melanor rummaged through her pockets and took out a dark brown pouch and passed it to him, she said. "Here are those chocolates I promised you." Reiki quickly placed them in his tattered pouch.

All of a sudden the sound of running could be heard as the elf wearing the brown cloak ran beside him. Cherry was right on his trail as she scratched and pecked the elf, the cloak-wearing elf faked a cough as all three of them noticed the countless scratches on his hand. The male elf said. "I'm very sorry to interrupt but this… Crow?... Has been scratching me for the past few minutes-." Enora kicked the elf as he was sent flying past some trees.

Reiki let out a chuckle and said. "That's my signal." Cherry landed on Reiki's shoulder as he walked toward the direction the elf was kicked. Melanor tapped her daughter's shoulder as she snapped back to her senses, four elves watched him walk out of the forest.

When Reiki couldn't be seen Melanor brought out her pouch from her pocket and took out a brown quiver. Melanor said. "I found this in your room, all it needs is your mana imprint." Moranor took the quiver off her mother's hand as she hugged it, a smile slowly formed on her lips as it was enveloped in a thin layer of mana. Melanor handed a parchment to her daughter that was neatly folded in half.

Moranor used the strap of the quiver and looked at the parchment, on the front, it was written in elvish saying Mora. Moranor opened it and read out loud. "Make sure to use it." As her smile turned gentle. Enora's glare turned colder as a sudden realization struck her, her eyes turned back to normal as she poked Elora's forearm. Enora had a look of expectation in her eyes and said. "Mom, do you have something for me?"

Elora forced a smile which made Enora freeze on the spot, Elora said. "Sadly no, dear…" Elora placed an arm around Enora's shoulders as she dragged her toward the town. While being dragged Enora glared at Moranor and said. "Why does that slut get a gift from Reiki!?"
