I woke up feeling amazing! I felt strong, stronger than I’ve ever been. I felt like I could run forever and even lift the world!

…… That was until an hour later after breakfast…..

“Run boy RUN! You may be a hatchling but you now have the body of a 10 yr. old dragonling, I need to get you up to standard and ready for your journey! I have 2 months to get you in as good a shape as possible.” My dad yelled at me as he in human form, ran behind me and kept pace with me in my normal dragonling form.

I never ran or walked in this form because honestly…. I WAS JUST BORN LESS THAN 3 DAYS AGO MUCH LESS HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE USING FOUR LEGS!!!!!!

But I couldn’t just say that and thankfully the entire time I was tripping over myself dad just summed it up to the forced growth.

“I’m trying dad I swear I am.” Still feels weird as an 30 yr. old man to call someone dad again.

“It’s fine Stygian, let’s go ahead and take a break in this clearing.”

I looked around but I didn’t see anything but a forest surrounding us. I looked at dad with a look of confusion but he just smirked and waved his hand before suddenly a huge draconic tail grew from his body and with a single swipe he easily cleared dozens of trees that were the size of my body or bigger.

“This clearing my boy. Go ahead and take a seat and I will go grab us some lunch.” He said before wings appeared from his back and with a jump he was in the air before I could even blink and was halfway back to the cave.

“That was insane, and so freaking awesome! I can’t wait till I can do that.” I said as I imagined myself in a human body, buff and ripped with giant black wings erupting from me as I take to the skies. Haaaa man that would be so cool!

“Ya know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you at the school before, Who are you?”

I was startled as a new voice came from behind me within the tree line. I jumped and backed away as 3 dragonlings appeared. Each one a different color but the looks in two of their eyes said mischief while the 3rd that for some reason I could tell was a female, just had the look of confusion and worry.

“I-I…. My name is Stygian.” I stuttered at first but I took a deep breath to calm my nerves.

“Stygian? Sounds like a powerful name, Who named you?” the one in the middle asked, this one was a deep black color with red lines across it’s scales as if an inner flame was threatening to explode out.

Come to think of it, what were my parents names? I just knew them as mom and dad… Wait, I remember, I was still in the egg but I remember hearing their voices….. Dammit what did they say?

“Well? You gonna answer or what cat got your tongue?” the other dragonling said that gave off the same mischievous feeling as the first one. This one was a deep earthen color. The two of them laughed but the female one spoke up. She had the most beautiful blue colored scales I’ve ever seen, they were baby blue overall but had almost a soft pink lining around them…. I couldn’t help but feel my heart beat faster as I looked at her….. Wait that’s weird what the hell?

I shook my head and backed away some more. Not from the two other ones, but from this female. Something wasn’t right with how easily I started to think how this dragonling was… Beautiful? I heard that in some isekai the mind starts to merge with the physical body and the temperament of the person before getting isekai’d starts to merge with the new body…..

“You two enough! Can’t you see that we scared him? It’s ok, My name is Lizana, The black one is Defaro, and the brown one is Crater. We were just curious because the rest of us are already in schooling and just about to set off for our first journey into the wilderness, but we’ve never seen you before.”

I tried not to stare at her but at the same time I didn’t want to be rude so I tried to stare just in her general direction but not focus actually on her.

“My dad and mom are named Nitali and Solace….. My house is over there.” I pointed in the direction dad had flown only because where I was I couldn’t see the cave.

“Hold on, You mean Nitali and Solace Pride? As in the son of the tribe chieftain?”

“I guess? I just know them as mom and dad and grandpa though.”

“Didn’t they lay their eggs only like 6 months ago? Something isn’t right here.” The one called Defaro said as he looked at me with suspicion.

Thankfully I was saved as Dad landed right next to me and took over the conversation.

“Hey kids, Yes this is my son Stygian and he was born 3 days ago. However thanks to some method that the Chieftain used he was forced into growing up into a 10 year old. Now I’m having to teach him all that I can so he can join you on the wilderness journey.”

The three looked at me then dad a few times as the news that I’m actually 3 day old hatchling forced into a ten yr. old body slowly settled into their brains.

“What the hell! You mean to tell me this guy got lucky and didn’t have to waddle his way through 10 yrs. of learning and instead got a shortcut straight to the good stuff!?” Defaros yelled but instead of it being funny I was actually kind of pissed.

“Hey, It wasn’t fun to go through that you hear me! I had to experience my bones breaking and my body basically ripping itself apart, Oh then once that was done I had to quickly learn to manipulate Mana or else my body would’ve exploded because my dragonheart suddenly grew and didn’t have the necessary mana already to even operate! You think it was a shortcut? Think again because I wouldn’t wish that on anybody unless it was truly and I mean end of the world necessary!” I yelled in anger but after I finished I realized what I did.

“I’m sorry, I-I didn’t mean to yell at you like that.”

“No, it’s fine really. I didn’t know that you had to go through that all after just hatching. I’m sorry too. How about we start over?” Defaros said in a much calmer tone as he walked over to me.

“My name’s Defaros. And if Solace is your dad than that makes you my cousin.” He said with a smile.

“Names Crater and it looks like we are all cousins!” Crater said as he came over to me as well. The 180 attitude change from these two was a little shocking but I liked it. I couldn’t act like I was older than them plus this is a new world so I should embrace it.

“My name’s Stygian, Nice to meet you.” I smiled back but the smile dropped as Lizana came over. I still didn’t understand that change in my thoughts when I looked at her before. Now I can think clearly but just a few minutes ago It was like I was looking at something with nothing on my mind but… Lust?

“I hope we can get along Stygian, I know it must be hard for you to understand everything but the three of us can help if you want?” She asked with a soft voice that could lull even a thunderstorm to sleep.

“Th-Th-That would be great.” I stuttered yet again, Why in the hell am I stuttering? I don’t feel nervous anymore dammit!

“Great! Sounds like my boy is in good hands with you three, right now though is time for his training. It is just basic stuff like running to build his stamina so I don’t think you guys would want to join.” Dad said and they nodded before turning around to leave.

“Gotcha uncle, just let us know if we can help out. Seeya later Stygian.” I waved as they left back into the tree line and I turned to face dad and now noticed as he was carrying a box that was smelling super good.

“Haha, you just now noticed? Come on let’s eat.”
