Chapter 6

The entire world had been thrown into chaos with the appearance of the Titan Wolf, as it came to be known. Conspiracy theorists and religious extremists immediately took the front stage, some claiming that the beast had been sent by God to deliver punishment onto the Earth, while others claimed the beast was an agent of the devil.

Japan's population was shocked, to say the least, and many cried for blood. The final death tally from the monster's impact resulted in approximately six hundred thousand people dead, something dwarfing most natural disasters.

However, all of this was lost on the Wolf God. He didn't really care for the consequences of his actions, especially since he was fully aware that it was practically impossible for humanity in this world to kill him even if he simply stood there, taking whatever they threw at him.

Instead, as his figure blurred forward, he finally reached his destination, the tallest mountain in the world. It was barely his own height, not to speak of his length, but it would have to do for now.

He first grabbed and removed any and all humans and animals on it, placing them a few dozen kilometers away. Then, he allowed his divine energy to run through the mountain, enlarging it and creating a nice and large cave deep within it. By the time he was done, the mountain had grown by well over a dozen or so times over, making it a barely acceptable abode as far as the Wolf God was concerned.

Sure, he could just shrink himself, but it felt uncomfortable. Besides, it's not like he had any real reasons to disguise his presence. He placed a few restrictive runes around his new home, designed to not kill, but rather simply block any attempt at entering. Then, he teleported himself in.

Curling up around himself, he allowed his eyes to close. Some rest was needed right now, especially to finish dealing with his few remaining wounds, as well as to restock on his supply of divine energy. Luckily for him, mana had long since become obsolete to him, or else he would have been in trouble. After all, finding mana in a manaless world was practically impossible.

Although... He cracked one of his closed eyes open, staring at the location where he'd been thrown into this world once more. Technically speaking, it might not remain a manaless world for long, all things considered.

Sighing, he rested his head on his paws. He'd deal with all of this later. Sleep was necessary as of right then and there.

----------------------------------------

News about the Titan Wolf's new location quickly spread around the world, as well as images about the new Mount Everest. The people who'd been somehow teleported off of the mountain beforehand all reported suddenly feeling as though a giant hand had grabbed them, and practically everyone described the experience as not being painful.

Watching all of this with a concerned eye, U.S. president Bump remained silent as his various advisors raged within the White House's chambers.

"President Bump, this is insane! Our people are going to riot if we do not give an official response to the appearance of that... thing. What should we do?!" One concerned man asked, his beefy face somewhat sweaty from all the stress he'd been going through that day.

"Mr. President, the Japanese prime minister has just called us! You may want to hear this." Another woman spoke, quickly hushing up the chamber as Bump just nodded silently, picking up the phone handed to him with a silent thank you.

A few minutes later, and a few, curt answers from Bump, the overweight president put down the phone, sighing deeply before shaking his head. "Mr. Hoshito is demanding for a summit between all the leading nations in the world to respond to the crisis. Naturally, we will attend." Bump said, quickly causing a commotion amongst the various politicians.

Similar scenes happened across the world, many nations choosing to participate, even if only because not doing so would look bad in the public eye.

However, all of this was still some time in the future. While the wolf's arrival was sudden and unexpected, the real chaos would arrive later. Already, scientists and religious experts began to question everything they knew, especially after reviewing the footage of an airplane being magically crushed by nothingness, as well as the images of a kilometers-long wolf running on thin air.

And, in the midst of all of this, one school girl's life was about to change drastically.

Rosie, like all the other teenagers across the world, was practically enthralled by the story of the giant wolf. Her school had already opened up various classes and clubs to discuss and debate on the various what, whys and hows of the wolf, and just like her friends, she'd quickly signed up for a few of them.

It was in the midst of one of these classes that her life's direction took a turn, whether that be for the better or worse, who knows.

"Tom, keep it respectful. Do not insult your classmate's religion." The teacher, Mrs. Patrick, warned. Tom, a gangster-looking boy with a hobby of making other's life miserable, just nodded lazily. His eyes, however, spoke more than enough about just how much he was listening to her words.

Rosie glared at him, feeling irritation building up in her chest. She absolutely hated Tom, both for picking on her friends, as well as his attitude. To her, he was the exact sort of person that shouldn't be allowed near parties with alcohol, for fear of what sort of stuff he'd put in her drink.

As the class finished and she started packing up her things, she felt an abrupt sting on her buttcheeks as someone slapped her. She let out a yelp and jumped forward, immediately turning around to grace the bastard with a death glare.

"Ooh, spooky. What are you gonna do about it, four eyes? Cry to the teacher?" Tom grinned, knowing full well that she wouldn't. He was the son of the principal, after all, and if they went head to head, the bastard would get special treatment.

Her lips trembled, and she felt her eyes getting wet. She angrily wiped at them, gave one more glare at the bastard, and then stormed off.

Her friend looked sympathetic as she waited for Rosie next to the school exit. Honestly, she was just glad the day was over. "The school really needs to get a new principal if his son acts like this." Rosie commented, bitterness still burning hot within her.

"Yeah... It really does." Her friend sighed, one hand going through her hair as she looked up at the sky. "Say, wanna come over at my place tomorrow? We can hang out a bit, talk with the girl gang and see what's up on the news!" She excitedly asked. Rosie nodded, a small smile appearing on her face.

However, just as they left the school grounds, Rosie abruptly felt something wet splash all over her face. She screamed as she felt a slimy feeling ooze down her hair and shoulders, a disgusted look quickly appearing on her face as she stared at the gross green... liquid... on her.

She ignored her friend's grossed out yells as she looked up, finding one of Tom's gang members idly sitting on a branch above them, a satisfied look on his face as he laughed out loud. She could hear the rest of Tom's gang laughing next to the tree.

For a moment, Rosie saw red. She grit her teeth, her hands clenching hard enough to hurt, and something seemed to be burning her up on the inside. With an angry scream, she pointed at the bastard above her, wishing she could just light him on fire or something.

And, strangely enough, the next thing she saw was indeed him being lit on fire as a cone of fire shot out from her finger, roaring as it charged towards the teenage gangster above her.

The poor guy's eyes widened drastically as he practically threw himself off the tree, landing in a painful heap as he barely dodged the fire cone. Instead of the tree catching on fire, though, everything the fire touched was directly turned to ash, something normal fire certainly would not normally do.

Rosie's mouth hanged open, forming a small o as she looked at her own hands in astonishment. Her friend also looked stunned, not to mention the gangsters nearby.

"What... What the hell was that!" Her friend finally said, practically screaming. Before Rosie could even answer, she suddenly felt as though she could not move, her words dying in her throat.

An inhuman, raspy voice resounded in her ears, causing chills to run down her spine. "I knew I'd felt something here. What an interesting combination... So this is what happens when a manaless being enters in contact with mana..."

Rosie shivered even more, her eyes widening as she felt an invasive sensation suddenly spreading through her, examining her thoroughly. It was an intensely uncomfortable feeling, and she instinctively fought back.

It was all for naught, however. After a minute or so, the sensation stopped, and the raspy voice spoke once more, a satisfied undertone in it. "Aaah... Good, good. It seems this world's not as hopeless as I'd imagined. Girl, I am the Wolf God, master of the Northern Empire and archduke of the Beast Faction... But I suppose those are meaningless words to you. Come, we shall speak face-to-face."

Rosie practically had no time to even comprehend the strange voice's words before her world went black, her consciousness abruptly stopping.

Unbeknownst to Rosie, her friend watched with wide eyes as Rosie began to glow and levitate, her body rising off the ground as dark light shined from her eyes, mouth, and nose.

And then, Rosie vanished.
