Green leveling area (II)

Green leveling area (II)

She took a couple of steps back, while letting her fairy-assistants take care of the remains. At the same time, she set some traps, and used herself as bait.

Those Coyotes were intelligent beasts. They approached slowly, by circling her. Therefore, they could perceive that there was something around the vampire, an aura that undoubtedly seemed dangerous. Had they attacked, or simply weren’t unusually alert, they would have easily fallen prey to the tentacles.

However, they were close, too close, unable to dodge the arrows Gjaki suddenly shot at them. She wanted to provoke them and, most of all, hurt them.

The beasts’ skin was tough, thus the level 5 arrows couldn’t pierce it easily. She barely got a few scratches on two of them, but that was all she needed.

Undecided whether to flee or attack, wary of what they sensed around her, the canids bared their threatening teeth. They approached little by little, with caution and alert. What they couldn’t expect was that their kin turned against them.

Affected by Betrayal, two of the wounded level 9 attacked their closer companions. They bit them, dug their teeth into them without any kind of mercy, of caution.

Those attacked instinctively defended themselves. Their level was higher, but their initial injuries were serious, so the fight was more or less even, wild, no quarter. Even when the effect of the spell ended, it was already too late to stop the fratricidal fight, in which the two were suffering deep wounds, as well as biting the poison of the other. Whichever would win, may not survive.

It is true that they have some resistance to their own venom, but they aren’t totally immune, not at that level. As being weakened by the fight, their chances of survival were low.

The most important thing was the chaos caused. One had died, four others were locked in a fight to the death, and the other five were confused. They also made the grave mistake of ignoring the vampire.

She took the opportunity to drink some blood from the fawn. It was bitter. In the game, herbivores’ were said to be sweeter. Of course, that fawn only looked like it, it was actually a dangerous predator.

After that, she went back to hiding with Darkness. Her objective was a level 10 coyote. She attacked it just like the other, but this time it wasn’t as effective.

They were more attentive, more alert. As soon as she had been gone, they had started looking around uneasily. As soon as she had stepped out of Darkness to attack, her prey had detected her.

It is true that the margin was small, that it had barely had time to dodge. Nonetheless, it had avoided a mortal wound, although not a small cut.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

Immediately, the beast turned to try to bite her. However, she ducked in time, after which she propelled herself with both legs, backing away. She used her hands to support herself on the ground, flipped back, and regaining her balance as she landed on her feet.

Another of the coyotes, at level 11, took the opportunity to attack her, but she had backed away right behind one of her traps. Dark Tentacles held the predator for a moment.

Gjaki took advantage of the pause to reuse Betrayal on the level 10 she had attacked, through the blood that came out of its wound. It was one level higher, so the effect lasted less and was less effective. Despite that, it couldn’t help the urge to attack the partner which, ironically, had come to protect it. As it was attacked, it instinctively turned, thus creating a new fratricidal fight.

Meanwhile, she lashed out at the one which had fallen into the trap. As it was two levels above, it couldn’t be held back for long, but it was all she needed. She used a spear to safely attack the beast, which was trying to squirm out, and to rip one of the tentacles with its jaw.

She took advantage of it to pierce through its open mouth. The vampire could ignore the tentacles, as they belonged to her and she could control them. Therefore, she could impale it with the weapon.

Two had died, and six others were fighting fiercely among themselves. The remaining two were facing a huge level 11 snake, which had been attracted by the noise and the smell. The reptile had attacked one of them by surprise and imprisoned it with its body, while the other was attacked the snake.

Gjaki moved through the shadows, to harass those which were winning their duels, and ending up finishing them both. In that way, she finished off the six whom she had incited to fight.

With that, the vampire had risen to 10 and was on her way to the next level. She looked at the snake and the coyotes, but decided not to attack. Something had fallen into another trap, and was overcoming it. She had wanted to attract some preys to level up, but now she wasn’t sure of the situation.

Gjaki decided to use Darkness, thus disguising her presence as she climbed the tree again, and observed the situation. She smiled at the recovered blood spell. It had always been very useful.

Bat was a spell of little use in battle, but very useful to prepare it. At low cost, at least at high levels, she could use blood and darkness magic to create bat-like entities, with which she could explore her surroundings. They have a cost while they are active, and they can’t go farther than a kilometer away. They could follow or spot enemies, which made it difficult for her to be caught by surprise.

Dribble is a whip skill that allows to change the trajectory of the weapon at once. It allowed her to create impossible moves and surprise her enemies, especially those who were intelligent.

She also put on the level 10 light armor, and immediately changed its appearance again.

She didn’t hesitate to summon one of those Bats, and send it to scout. She wanted to know what dangers were hidden in the shadows. Even if it was eliminated, It would let her know that there was something there.

At the same time, she was carefully observing the surroundings, attentive to anything that would approach, as well as the battle of the serpent against the coyotes.

With one imprisoned, the other wasn’t enough to intimidate the reptile and save its kin. With the pack together, they might be able to hunt the snake down, but it was impossible for it alone. The coyote could only watch helplessly as the other one was swallowed, while its other dead companions were skinned and bled.

With no other option, it decided to flee from there.
