Jinyoung watched as the thing shook off a direct spear thrust, a huge swing from a longsword and four crossbow bolts. It didn’t even slow down when it crushed a concrete pillar and hit Kieun behind it. The gauge on the system HUD emptied a bit, but it didn’t matter. Chances were that this thing was going to tear through the party and none of them would leave alive at this point.

Shit.
The good thing about having three skills is that it doesn’t offer much in the way of options. [Dash] wasn’t going to help and [charge] wouldn’t work unless he was close enough to swing a sword. Which left only one option…

What the hell does that mean?
***
Hana stared at the stinger and raised her shield. She wasn’t sure if her skills could defend against a direct shot at this range, but it should keep her alive. She grit her teeth and prepared herself when WHAM!
Something hit her. Hard and from her side. For a split second, she worried that the monster flanked her before hitting her with a stinger. But even this thing wasn’t that fast. It almost felt like-
“Jinyoung, what the hell?”
He ignored her. “Mara, go check on Kieun! Willow, we need a distraction!”
Quietly, Mara moved from cover to cover sideways towards the human sized hole in the wall. Willow on the other hand fired shots at the Queen Bee’s eyes, taking her time between shots.
“They can only buy us a second, so talk fast. It’s “armored”, Hana. What the hell does that mean?”
Attributes were found in higher tiered dungeons. They offered additional bonuses and buffs to monsters making them even more dangerous. Even in her many battles, she’d only encountered a handful of monsters like this.

“There’s armored and shielded. Which one is it?”
“Armored.”
Hana grit her teeth. “‘Armored’ means a monster is resistant to physical attacks. We can still damage it, but we’ll have to break through its outer shell.”
“Can’t you cut through it?”
“It’d take some time, but your [charge] could make it go faster.”
Right. Unlike Hana’s [shield bash] or [powered strike], which activated upon attacking an enemy, [CHARGE] needed to be activated before an attack. It was only the difference of a second or two, but in battle, that could mean all the difference.
“Just be careful after you activate it, Jinyoung.”
[CHARGE]
This SKILL allows PLAYERS to store energy within their
bodies to boost their next attack, SKILL or SPELL.
There was a little known effect when players activate [charge]. It had been hidden for years because so few people used it and players usually used it immediately after activating it. Once activated, [charge] reduced a player’s agility stat by 30%. That meant players were slowed down and had more difficult dodging attacks.
“Don’t worry, we’ve got this.”
Jinyoung moved out of cover and shouted at the monster. Kieun was dizzyingly making his way out of the hole in the wall while Mara was avoiding jabs from the Bee’s stinger. He moved quickly to the left while the knight moved right.
The monster ignored the squeaking human and instead shot a stinger the size of a javelin at Mara. The cadet brought their sword up just enough to parry it sideways. The stinger shot through a cash register, a mannequin, the wall and buried itself in the wall of a changing room.
Watch your back, queenie.
Jinyoung took the opening to move in and [charge]. The mana filled Jinyoung’s body and he braced himself for the surge before swinging his short sword. Hard.
WHAM!
The blow hit like a truck and sent the monster sideways into the metal grating of a closed down shop. Hana took advantage and moved in close.
[Powered strike].
The impact was thunderous. The cadets covered their ears as their proctor knocked the monster through the metal gate and crashed into the abandoned shop inside.
Kieun pumped his fist in the air and shouted, “Nice shot! We got it!”
The cloud of dust and rain of debris made it impossible to see the deadly monster. Jinyoung activated his [scan+] again and watched the telltale flash of light tell him that the system was relaying the information back to him.

“It’s still alive, keep your guard up!”
As if on cue, the Queen Bee exploded out of the corner and set pieces of concrete and brick flying. Impossibly quickly, the monster threw itself to the center of the atrium and raised its body up. The insect wings flapped fast and hard, sending out a powerful gust of wind. Willow took cover behind a wall on the upper floor while Kieun ducked behind a low wall. The others were swept back and slammed into walls around the edges of the atrium.
