A Calm Before the Storm

A Calm Before the Storm

I was looking at the sky.

The sky, the night sky full with glitter of stars.

But...I can see everything clearly, as if it wasn't night but during daylight.

And there was, a really weird creature, living in the sky, without anything resembling wings to fly.

High above the world, where the clouds danced in an endless waltz, the majestic Sky Whale soared gracefully through the azure expanse. Its immense body, a mesmerizing blend of sapphire and silver, glistened in the sunlight.

What made the Sky Whale truly extraordinary was its inverted form; everything about it was flipped, as if seen through a mirror.

From the ground, this peculiarity was striking. The creature's underbelly, typically hidden beneath the waves for sea-dwelling whales, was now exposed to the sky, lined with bioluminescent patterns that pulsed gently, casting a serene glow that contrasted with the deep blue above.

Its back, which should have been streamlined and smooth, faced the earth, its features inverted in a way that defied conventional understanding.

As the Sky Whale descended towards the sea, its vast, inverted fins cut through the clouds, parting them like waves.

It approached the water's surface with a slow, deliberate grace, its mouth—positioned where a sea whale's blowhole would be—opening wide to draw in the life-sustaining liquid. The sound of water rushing in filled the air, a harmonious symphony that echoed across the ocean.

Each breath the Sky Whale took was a spectacle. As it inhaled the water, a massive vortex formed beneath the surface, a water-tornado of colossal scale that swept everything in its path. Fish, seaweed, and even small boats were caught in the powerful current, spiraling helplessly until the Sky Whale's breath subsided. The sea churned violently, a testament to the creature's immense power.

The Sky Whale's eyes, deep and ancient, glinted with intelligence and curiosity. They scanned the horizon, taking in the world below with a calm, steady gaze. Each breath it took sent ripples across the sea, creating a pattern of concentric circles that spread outwards, a testament to its presence.

As it rose back into the sky, droplets of water cascaded from its form, sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight. The Sky Whale ascended effortlessly, reclaiming its domain among the clouds. Its inverted body, a marvel of the natural world, shimmered with an otherworldly light, a guardian of the skies and a symbol of the fantastic and the unknown.

That sight will never cease to amaze me.

[Caution : Failure will result in Sky Whale rampaging the land.]

Failure..and a time limit, huh?

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

I kept observing the whale…no matter how many times I seen it, it was really fascinating…and they wanted us to kill it? When we don't really have a way to reach it…I don't think we could even hurt it with that big body.

It never opened its mouth, and during the ten hours that I spent observing it, I only seen it going down to reach the sea surface, once.

…I'm not fit to strategize with this many people in mind, Kakuuu~

I don't even know his reasoning to make me the one in-charge of making strategy…like, it doesn't fit me no matter how I see it.

Wait a minute…flying?

Can I…reach it with the skills I gained from roller coaster dungeon?

No, me. The question is not can I, you should change that perspective.

True that.

I can reach it with the skills I gained from roller coaster dungeon.

So..all that left is getting actual firepower to damage it.

Once again, I looked at the skills section of my status details screen.

[Astral Vision, Pain Intolerance, Magic Nullification, Appraisal (low), Track Summoning, Roller Coaster Summoning, Astral-Spatial Teleport (partial) ]

Yeah, I don't have anything that could possibly scratch it, let alone damaging it.

…wait a minute…

Can magic affect it?

Well…I'm sure Kaku has already tried it…should I ask him?

Anyway, magic sure is weird here, on this Earth.

It used the term 'Creativity' as its fuel, and the way Creativity works is something we can't fathom in these two weeks.

Practically, everyone with creativity stat has one or more 'Element', and this elements is rather simple, as it's already in our life.

Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, Electric, Nature, Light and Darkness..that is the eight elements present in this rather post-apocalyptic earth.

Each person would then bend the term of their element, making it magic. Fireball, Water Bubble Dance, Wind Blast…all of these are derivations of their element. The more complex they imagined the magic, the more refined the magic is. But, not everyone has creativity..heck, even my creativity was rather standard or decent, a 40/40 is decent.

Yeah, each and every person has a different 'Max Creativity' amount, and Stella has a whopping 80…and she also has weapon mastery..truly blessed.

Buuut, the less creative someone is, the simpler they become, right? That applies here too.

People with rather low creativity get compensation, that their physique becomes more and more in the superhuman category the more things they accomplish…but, the one counted for 'accomplishment' is secret and different for each muscle head.

So…if magic is a no go, we might as well go with brute force…but.

No, no more buts.

Fine.

Brute force, might sound like it would work. In reality…creativity could also mean intelligence, so most of those with simpleton mindset lack the means to cooperate unless we bait them, which is quite painful to do.

Yeah, firepower problem…I'll just let Kaku and Lain do it…I'll just lazily playing around and transport those maniacs to the whale.

Yeah, let's just do exactly that.

Lately, Rinka been gazing too far away, far from what I can see, far from what I could understand.

Each time I'm free, he is doing something, somewhere, far away from where I was...that was the effect of him teleporting away, searching for clue and a way out.

And now...his body, is sleeping soundly here...yeah, nope.

He definitely is awake, using his loved Astral Vision.

Unconciously, my finger were closing its distance to his face.

*poke* *poke*

What am I doing? I don't know. I don't want to know.

I opened the quest panel once again.

[Caution : Failure will result in Sky Whale rampaging the land.]

Everyone worked hard to prevent it, even though we knew that it was 360 Hours, a whole fifteen days as time limit.

This definitely means that its so damn absurd, they gave us too much time to prepare for the impact.

They were already thinking we, humanity, will be destroyed once and for all by this stupid whale that forgot how to breath.

And so, before I leave to continue training, I leave a water ball hanging above Rinka's head, and setting the timer it would go off in around ten second.

This too, is training, to hone, sharpening my creativity in preparation for the all-out war with the Sky Whale.

Just wait for us, Sky Whale.
