The inside of the plane was spacious and functional. Long rows of folding seats along the sides and mountings for equipment and personal belongings - everything was provided for the comfortable and safe transportation of personnel and their equipment. Ivan's group settled down in their places, waiting for the loading to be completed. For everyone, including Alexander, this action was normal and everyone was waiting for takeoff.
In his past life, Alexander managed to visit hot spots and such transfers also took place. Now he simply looked at the people who were not covered by the technology. These were the supers whom he, one way or another, saw in the military camp.
When the plane gained altitude, Saratov remained below them, with small toy houses and streets, and ahead of them lay Vladivostok, new tasks and unknown horizons. At that moment, looking out the window at the shrinking earth below, Alexander was thinking about how he could find Roman, and even go with him to the Brink.
- If he is there, we can die the death of the brave next to each other. But then, there is a possibility that he will have nowhere to return to the real world. The military can simply burn his body and be done with the villain Fireball. Or maybe they will lock his body, somewhere in the depths of domestic bunkers, under medications, and then it turns out that I traded my freedom for the freedom of a friend. Will you have to run away? Deserte... But what about them? - Alexander looked at Sofia, who was whispering with Andrei, while Ivan next to him was collected and simply watched everyone. - I thought about this late... It was possible to open up to the colonel and, through his connections, achieve the fact that Roman was simply recruited. They would have been kept under surveillance, but perhaps there would have been more freedom than there is now. Yes, I'm dumb...
On board the plane, Sofia, who had settled Alexander on her legs, spoke louder so that Ivan could also hear. Before that, she only spoke with Andrey.
- Van, I don’t know half of these guys, can you enlighten me about some of them? I want to bring Businka up to date. - Andrey hardened his eyes at this, only now realizing why she was asking him for information about the neighbors.
- Certainly. It will also be useful for him to know who is covering our backs and with what if a mess breaks out. But I don’t know everyone myself. Some people didn't have to interact with at all. - the girl nodded understandingly.
- You see, the guy who sits opposite and entertains everyone with little lightning bolts between his fingers is junior sergeant Anton Kuznetsov. - She began, watching as Anton demonstrated his ability to perform electrokinesis. - He can light a light bulb simply by touching it, and he also saved us all in one rather sticky situation when it was necessary to “reboot” enemy equipment.
- True, he falls far short of the level of Zeus. - Andrei said and his comrades nodded in agreement. Alexander was already thinking about the fact that the military is developing both over and under, and even now, having someone whose strength is of the same nature as one of the strongest supers of the enemy, Anton Kuznetsov could only do cheap tricks. Zeus, at the same time, could bring down the wrath of God from heaven. Different levels and different desires for strength.
- And here is captain Irina Volkova, our “unkillable” woman. - Ivan pointed to a blonde with a short haircut, lightly made up, but otherwise unremarkable. - She has an amazing ability to heal quickly. I've seen her recover after... well, let's just say she went through a lot. Of course, we can also recover after returning, and she can do this anywhere. At least cut off her hand.
- Which the scientists definitely did a couple of times. The entire garrison then went crazy. A whole girl came in and came back pale and missing a limb. A day later the hand was already in place. - Andrey said. Sofia confirmed his words, after which she pointed to a man playing with aerial paintings:
- Senior Lieutenant Dmitry Petrov is a master of illusions. Can make you see anything, from a banal landscape to an entire scene from a movie. During training, he once “flooded” the entire room... Although it was only in our heads, the instructors then wrote a report on this joker.
- A strong ability, useful, but not combative. As a supporter of his team, they say, he shows himself to be excellent. - said Ivan.
“It turns out that the most pumped up fighter in this bunch, and not a fighter at all. Sadness.” - thought Alexander.
- Elena Morozova, major, our burning beauty. - Sofia smiled, turning to the woman who controlled a small flame in her palm. - She can create fire out of thin air. On one mission, Elena cleared the way for us through an ambush with one wave of her hand.
- Both defense and attack are her profile. Try to get through her Fire Shield or dodge her Flame Wave! - Andrey said a little admiringly, but Alexander had a different opinion.
“Why are you rejoicing! You have another weak super, who could become as powerful as Fireball... Like Fireball, like Zeus... Maybe that’s why the management doesn’t pump up fighters? They have an army, and above all, narrow specialists. To be afraid that the roof will go crazy and another person will appear who is difficult to control and who can burn down an entire military unit... Well, if this is true, then it’s a disaster. These guys can’t cover our backs, at least not for long...” - he shook his head as his thoughts progressed.
Finally, Sofia winked at the hare, looking at the man enthusiastically playing with a cube in the air:
- Well, junior lieutenant Maxim Smirnov. The power of his mind can carry any object over a distance. See how easily he manipulates this cube? In the field it could be anything, from a bullet to an airplane.
- Well, you forgot about the plane. I saw him in training, a maximum of one hundred and twenty kilograms. Tests were carried out. - to which the girl shrugged her shoulders without answering.
Alexander looked at some of those flying with them from above and thought that in a collision with the enemy, more than half would definitely remain on the battlefield forever. They were all unprepared for a serious confrontation with the enemy’s superiors. The rest of the flight was calm, Alexander decided to use the time usefully and, immersed in himself, began to train his control over his soul.
His plans are to learn how to knit souls as quickly as possible, so that he can adapt to the enemy during battle. Everything is the same as he did with the claws, only it didn’t take half a day. Therefore, he knitted spiritual designs, and then unraveled them for the entire six hours, until he finally passed out from overwork. This was another problem for him. He was often tired and he thought it was his current body. The animal simply could not show and accept the full potential of a person.
When Alexander woke up, the vibration of the plane had already subsided, and the last noise of the engines had died down behind him. A group of supers, among whom was a hare carried by Sofia, carefully descended to the ground of the Vladivostok military airfield. A row of people greeted them lined up in front of them. Everyone was in Russian army uniform.
The first to step forward was a man in a uniform, hung with medals and insignia, emphasizing his high status. Although Alexander could not know the exact details of his biography, the medals spoke for themselves - in front of them stood a man who had gone through a lot, whose gaze tested everyone who set foot on this airfield.
- Welcome to Vladivostok, soldiers! - the greeter said in a deep voice, and his words carried weight and confidence. - I'm Colonel Andreev. I am responsible for all newly arrived supers...
Alexander decided to look at those greeting him while the colonel made his welcoming speech, which, due to military brevity, lasted a couple of minutes.
Among the greeters was a woman in a major's uniform, whose stern but attentive eyes carefully studied the arrivals. Her strong posture and confident movements spoke of inner strength and determination. And Alexander had no idea why she was needed here, like most of those meeting her.
Next to her stood the captain, young and energetic, with a small notebook in his hands. He was clearly ready for action, his gaze quickly sliding between the faces of his new subordinates, as if trying to remember each one.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Two lieutenants standing a little further away exchanged whispers, but their gazes from time to time turned to the group of supers. One of them was actively trying to explain to the second something that would remain only between them. There were still lieutenants there, but Alexander returned his gaze to the colonel, who was still talking.
“Your presence here is critically important...” he said, looking confidently at each of the superiors. - Vladivostok is on the threshold of an important event - a forum that will bring together the highest representatives of the state, including the president. In light of current circumstances, especially after the incident with the enemies of the homeland and the actions of American superiors, we are faced with the need to strengthen security measures. Your mission is to ensure the event is protected from any threats.
The major, standing next to the colonel, finally spoke:
- We have developed an action plan that includes not only physical cover, but also the use of your unique abilities to prevent and neutralize potential threats. Each of you will be involved according to your skills. Also, each will be assigned a curator from among the lieutenants.
The captain, a young officer with a notepad, added:
- We will hold a briefing so that you can better coordinate your actions with the rest of the security forces...
Alexander rolled his eyes when it turned out that the briefing was being held right there at the airport, under a clear sky. It all took thirty minutes, they were all assigned to curators, brought up to date and finally sent off with God.
Their handler turned around and walked towards a large bus parked in the distance. The colonel and the others remained in their places. Everyone was sent on the bus along with their curators. Alexander looked over Sofia's shoulder and grinned. There was another plane on the way. It looks like this welcoming delegation was greeting supers from all over Russia in a conveyor belt.
Their handler, Lieutenant Shipko, one of those two idiots, a determined officer, led the group to a large bus prepared for the transfer. Inside the bus there was a tense, but at the same time lively atmosphere. The leaders exchanged their first impressions of Vladivostok, which greeted them with a clear morning sky and a cool sea breeze.
When the bus left the military airfield, it rolled through the city streets. Sofia, looking out the window, could not contain her surprise:
- Look, the city is not destroyed at all. There were no fights here? Rise of the dead and madness? - Ivan, who was already opening his mouth to answer, was interrupted by Lieutenant Shipko. The lieutenant, speaking loudly so that everyone present could hear him, began to explain:
- There were really difficult times in the city. We had to endure both the uprising of the dead and the madness of those who returned. But this was quickly sorted out thanks to the timely and clearly coordinated reaction of our military command and the work of local superiors. In Vladivostok there is one of the largest centers for training and coordination of Russia's supers, which allowed us to instantly respond to any threats. In addition, the local population showed outstanding resilience and willingness to cooperate with the military, which greatly simplified the task of restoring order.
- What if it’s easier? - Ivan was able to wedge in.
- Simpler... We lost many cadets with gifts, but we defended the city. And then they helped with clearing the area. That's why you are here, like the other supers. We simply don’t have enough to cover all the important points in the city during the forum, so they sent top troops from all over Russia to us.
- It's clear…
Their bus slowly approached the Far Eastern University. In the distance one could see the Golden Bridge and the Russian Bridge spanning the eastern Bosphorus Strait. By the way, although one of the bridges was called Golden, it had nothing to do with gold in appearance or materials. This is how local residents voted.
The university campus, surrounded by tall trees and neatly trimmed lawns, gave an impression of calm and privacy despite its proximity to the bustle of the city. Still, being on the island brought its own charm to the university.
The main building of the university, designed in a modern style with elements of oriental architecture, towered over the campus, as if embodying the bridge between tradition and innovation. Glass facades reflected the morning rays of the sun, giving the complex lightness and airiness. In front of the main entrance there was a wide area where students and teachers were already gathering, discussing the latest academic news or simply enjoying a break in their studies. Despite recent events, studies continued, but academic holidays were announced during the forum itself, so only active students, the flower of the nation, so to speak, would remain at the university.
Upon arrival, the group of supers was greeted by representatives of the university administration along with several security officers. They walked them through the main hall, which was decorated with local artists and sculptures that highlighted the cultural significance of the institution. The interior decoration was done in light colors using natural wood and stone, creating an atmosphere of calm and concentration.
Their location was in one of the new residential buildings designed to accommodate guests and permanent researchers. Each room was equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay: soft beds, work desks, Internet access and private bathrooms. The building has been equipped with modern security systems, including video surveillance and electronic access card locks, to ensure the safety of residents.
A special conference room in the university research center was set aside for joint meetings and planning operations. The room is equipped with advanced video conferencing equipment, large screens for presentations and comfortable furniture, making it an ideal place to discuss strategic issues and prepare for the upcoming forum.
After Ivan’s group placed their belongings in their rooms, they, accompanied by their curator, Lieutenant Shipko, went on an introductory tour of the university campus and surrounding areas, where the key events of the forum were to take place.
Lieutenant Shipko started from the main conference room, where the main discussions of the forum were to be held. It was a two-story auditorium with a capacity of two thousand people. Along the way, he paid attention to every detail that could be important for safety.
- Here, in this room, the attention of our and the world press will be concentrated. - Shipko explained, leading the group through a spacious hall with high ceilings and walls decorated with art installations. - The President will open the forum right here on this stage.
Continuing on, they arrived at a small but exquisitely decorated room intended for private meetings.
- This is a room for high-level meetings. Here the President will hold talks with key foreign delegates. Obviously, this place requires special attention on our part. So only the best of the best will be appointed here. Well, the security here is top notch. - Shipko emphasized, pointing to discretely located CCTV cameras and security sensors.
The tour then continued to the main entrance of the university, where Shipko stopped and looked at his watch.
- This is where the main reception point will be. Our task is to control and filter everyone who enters here. We will have the support of local police, military and government security, but it is you, as the super, who play a key role in ensuring impenetrable security.
“And he clearly believes what he says.” - thought Alexander.
The final stop on their tour was common areas such as the dining room and outdoor terraces, where forum participants could relax and discuss current issues in an informal setting.
- Even here there should be no dead zones for cameras and our surveillance. Every corner of this place must be under control. - Shipko concluded his excursion. - Here are your documents and directions for the current assignment. If you need help, I'm always in touch. Good luck.
