An Affliction Against Flame (Dust)
The day before school started, Elpir 16th, came without any more super important events.
“It’s hot.” I moaned, pressing myself against the bench in a futile attempt to escape the heat.
“Indeed it is.” Luna calmly replied, sipping on some tea with an elegant pose.
“And so how are you fine?” I asked, envy leaking out of my eyes.
“My mana has an affinity with Ice, to the point where it’s gained some of the attributes itself. At least, that’s what I’ve been told.” She added the second part as an afterthought.
“So, your body temperature is lower than normal?” I asked.
“By quite a bit.”

I reached my hand over and lightly put a finger on her arm. Her skin was like a cool breeze, the perfect temperature in a heat like this.
My hand lingered as I pulled away, knowing that touching somebody wasn’t proper if it’s extended for too long.
“You’re quite a nice temperature…”
The world spun through my eyes. I felt enlightened, as if my mind was separating from my body.
I looked over at Luna once more. Her light one piece dress shimmered and wavered in the heat, the snowflake pattern adorning it seeming to flow and fall.
“How beautiful…” I murmured, before everything went black.
When I woke up, I was delirious, and many of my restrictions failed to apply to my thoughts, and even fewer applied to my actions.
I felt a cooling wind on my skin, but there was a burning heat in my core that the chill wasn’t reaching.
It’d be so much easier if I had something cold to press to my chest…
That type of thought driving my actions, I let out a small thread of mana. It was like a spider’s web, floating on an invisible wind. It scoured the room I was in, waving above floors and just away from walls.
It was feeling for something cold. Anything cold.
It alighted upon something, and searched it. It wrapped around it, and found it to be a suitable size.
In my delirium, neither of the two main parts of this object occurred to me.
One, why would there be such a wonderfully cold thing this close within reach?
And two, why would it be human shaped?
