Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Five years had passed and Vanz was already Six years old. It was the time for him to study in school as a grade school student.

When he was in preschool, he had already learned everything he needed to know about this new world. He learned that the world was called, Earth Prime and it wasn't the only world that existed, and there were many of them, to the point that the grain of sand in the desert would be ashamed.

That information opened a question in his mind. Is there another being in another planet? But no matter what he thought about it, that would not be answered, until his cultivation reached to a level when he could venture to the outer space without worrying about his life.

Not just that, he also learned the common knowledge that he must possessed to live comfortably on Earth Prime; the existence of science, technology and mathematics. While the children in his age were still playing and studying how to add, Vanz was already calculating volumes, distances, momentums, forces and energy, practicing derivations and integrals and memorizing many languages as it would be essential to him.

However, he concealed all of it as he didn't want to attract attention to himself, until he reached the age when he could make a decision for himself. As of now, Sera were still his guardian and the person that could dictate his life.

This was the law of Floran Government, and the common sense of the people living in this new world he stumbled upon.

If a boy with that kind of ability suddenly appeared, what was the worst thing could happen?

He would be a celebrity, a center of attention. Every move he made would be monitored by people around him and the people he knew would think of him differently. Things that he didn't wanted to happen.

As he would be famous, he'd be vulnerable to dangers. He could defend himself, though, yet for him it was still best to remain anonymous, until the times ripen.

Sera knew that Vanz was special and far more mature than his peers. Though, all the children in the orphanage were mature amongst their peers, Vanz was different as he was very intelligent. However, Sera still saw him as a boy who was hungry for attention.

"Now, Vanz it's your first day at grade school. You should introduce yourself politely okay? Make friends and study without worry. Don't be too mischievous." Sera reminded him.

"Okay, I'll do what Ms.Sera said, but I already have friends here. There are Jaydee, Shara, Allison, Drivon, Richie and the others." Vanz replied. Hearing it, made Sera smile as she locked him in her embrace until he couldn't breathe.

As she released Vanz, he said his goodbye and swiftly slipped through the door of her office.

When Vanz was gone, Sera couldn't help but smile wider. Then, Vienna entered with a cup of coffee on tray.

"You look happy. Vanz is really your stress reliever..." Vienna said, putting the cup of coffee on Sera's desk.

Sera smiled at her and spoke. "Thanks." she sipped a little and continued. "I don't know, but I feel happy every time I see him. After all, he is the sole reason which brought the orphanage to where it is now."

Vienna didn't oppose her and nodded in agreement. "But what if some rich and happy couple without child arrives and plans to adopt him? Will you let them?"

Vienna looked at Sera and waited for her answer. "Not going to happen. I won't let them take my only happiness."

Vienna smiled at her response and chuckled.

"Anyway, they are here again." Sera said and looked outside of her tinted window, thus she couldn't be seen looking out at outside perspective.

Outside the orphanage was a parked black car with two men who wore black clothes. Vienna spotted them since last week. They thought the two men were resident at the neighborhood, but after asking some people, Vienna found out that they weren't.

"You think we should call the police? They've been doing that since last week. I'm getting worried. What if they are part of a syndicate that is kidnapping children and selling their internal organs?" Vienna suggested.

Sera nodded and took out her phone. "I'll make a call now."

She dialed 911, an emergency call directly to the authorities. "Hello, is this the police station? Yes, please come at 369 Silverhein Road 71th Street, Highlast District. There are two men outside whom observing our orphanage for a week now. We thought, they are only civilians, but they have arms... We began to worry about our safety... Yes, please hurry."

Sera looked at Vienna and spoke. "Let's wait for the police."

After a few minutes passed, the police arrived silently and the black car was still there. Sera and Vienna watched the scene unfold as the police apprehend the suspicious men in black.

"Freeze! Put your hands on your head and drop-"

*Bang!*

One of the men in black fired at the police men who cut off his speech and jumped to the right to hide. Of course, the policemen's lives were already on the line, thus they didn't had any choice but to retaliate.

The other policeman nearby, hiding behind the parked vehicle docked down and shoot at the foot of the two men in black.

*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Four gun shots resounded and the two men in black collapsed on the ground as they unintentionally dropped their guns. The other police man rushed towards the two men in black and kicked them on the face before apprehending them.

"You two are under arrest. You have the rights to remain silent and everything you will say will be used against you in court." the police man who kicked the two men in black said as he handcuffed them, while the other police man took the guns the two men in black used in a plastic bag. It would be used as concrete evidence of their retaliation.

They locked the two men in black inside the police mobile and drove back to the police station; After several minutes, the police men from before came back and wanted to talked to Sera and Vienna.

Inside Sera's office, the two police men were sitting on the sofa while Vienna walked in with three cups of coffee on a tray for the two police men and Sera.

"What can we do for you two officers? Before that, please accept our thanks in behalf of the children that live in this orphanage. We've been running this orphanage for decade already, but this is the first time that this happened. Maybe, we should employ a guard from now on." Sera stated.

The two people men change glances and the one at her right spoke. "Actually ma'am, we've come here to talk to you about that. The police station volunteered to provide security personnel at your orphanage for a month. It is because we've found out that those two men are part of a syndicate which kidnapped children and sell their internal organs at a very high price. And those men aren't the only people around here; there are another group of people from other places that we suspected to be connected to the syndicate. They might come back, for as we can see, your orphanage has more children than other orphanage here on the city." He paused and the police man at the left continued.

"That's right ma'am. If they really come back, we can easily catch them before they even made a crime. However, the decision is still within your power ma'am. If you accept our offer, we need to live alongside the children so we can ensure their safety. And before you make a decision, our service is free ma'am. This is part of our duty, after all."

Sera looked at Vienna who nodded at her, indicating that she approved of their offer, after all what's more reliable guards than trained police men?

However, Sera was still hesitant to accept the help of the police, because as of this days, many policemen were corrupt and it was hard for her to trust them. Nevertheless, Sera complied, albeit not fully.

Sera sighed and spoke. "Okay, we accept your offer. We will make a room for you within the orphanage, but we have rules here, I hope you respect that. Anyway, thank you for your time, officers."

Sera extended her hand and the two police did the same as well as they shook hands.

"You don't need to thank us ma'am, we're only doing our job. Anyway, we will leave now and come back tomorrow morning." the police man at right said and left.

Sera sighed when they left and spoke. "What do you think, Vienna? This is far from what I thought it to be. Now, I don't feel safe for the children. I think we should hire our own guards, apart from those police."

"Stop sighing will you? You're only scaring away good fortune. And I think so too. I don't know, but I don't fully trust those two policemen. Let's hire our own guards...." Vienna paused and pondered for a moment.

When she remembered what she was thinking, she hammered her fist on her hand. "Right! I have someone I know. They're former Military Soldiers, part time Bouncers and Bodyguards. Those three should be alright. I know them very well." Vienna said to Sera.

"Okay, you can call them here, I will interview them." Sera said.

"Sure, I'll call them immediately."Vienna said and left hurriedly, leaving Sera alone in her office as she busied herself with the paper works.

Meanwhile, the taxi in which Vanz rode on had arrived at the school where he would study. The taxi stopped in front of the huge gate with walls spread for few hundred meters long and few meters tall.

"Boy, we're here." the taxi driver said. Vanz was familiar with the taxi driver as he adopted one of the children in the orphanage.

"Thanks, Uncle. Here's the payment." Vanz took out 10 Floran Dollars and gave it to the taxi driver, but insisted on taking it.

"No, you can keep it. Take this as a good will, but you need to pay next time." the taxi driver said.

"You can take this, then next time will be free of charge, what do you think, Uncle?" Vanz said back.

The taxi driver scratched his head and spoke. "Okay, I'll take this then next time will be free; Good luck to you young man." Vanz get off the taxi as the taxi driver drove off.

The school wasn't that big, as it was only a public school. It only had five facilities; the gymnasium, the faculty, the main school building with six stories, a two story Canteen and an open field with nothing but trees and grasses.

The school only had three thousand students, most of them didn't had expenses to enter in a private school where children in their age wished to enter, while some of them were like Vanz.

He preferred to enter in a public school, than a private one as most of the students in private schools were spoiled brats, and he didn't want to deal with those kind of kids. He thought, he was too old for it, forgetting that he was only a six years old.

Many students were walking towards their assigned rooms and Vanz was also doing the same. Looking around, he couldn't found some of the kids that lived in the orphanage as same as him and thought that they were already at in their own classroom, starting the class.

He quickened his pace, hurriedly heading to his own classroom as the first bell rang. An indication that the class was about to start and those whom didn't arrived when the bell stopped would be regarded as late comers. With it was a punishment, either community service or detention.

Public schools were strict on their regulations, but troublesome students still appeared, like bullies, class skippers and such, which they wanted to prevent from causing trouble for the school.

On his way to the classroom, he passed through the gymnasium's storage room, which was wide open. A sound came from within. Someone was asking for help.

"hmmp, brats..." he said, while fixing his glasses as he continued on his way, ignoring the sound.

As he arrived in the classroom, the first bell stopped ringing, as timely as it was, the teacher arrived as Vanz hurriedly sat on the remaining nearby vacant seat, the one in front, before the teacher's desk.

It was obvious that no one wanted to sit face to face with the teacher, but it wasn't a problem for Vanz.

Their teacher was a woman, and she seemed not in the mood. She looked at Vanz with fierce eyes and at the whole class as well, then frowned as though she would kill anyone whom tried to approach her as her eyes locked on the still unoccupied seat.

"First day and there's a skipper already?!" she said with a loud, overbearing voice, summoning rains and thunderclouds. Now, Vanz knew why none wanted to seat on his chair.

Taking out a handkerchief from his pocket, Vanz wiped the trickling bits of dew on his face. He took off his glasses and wiped it clean as well, while hearing the giggles of his seatmates.

"Hmmp, anyway. Let us continue. I am Devi Villania, or Mrs.Villania for short and I will be your homeroom teacher for the whole year. Any question?" Mrs.Villania said, writing her whole name on the board.

As she asked a question, a student on the back raised his hand and his seatmates looked at him with reverence. Probably, because he was courageous enough to ask a question.

"Umm, is that your husband's surname, ma'am?" the student asked, which made all of them to look at him with admiration, even Vanz.

Looking at Mrs.Villania's expression, she seemed not bothered by the question.

"Why do you even want to know it? Of course, it's my husband's surname. My own surname is Saythan. Do you have another question apart from that?"

Hearing her said her surname from her father made them all choke as though they had heard something unbelievable. It was their first time hearing such surname. They thought a surname Villania was already worst, but nothing would be worst than being called Saythan.

"Since it is our first day, I'll spare you for today's lecture. Meaning, you are free for today, but before I dismiss you, we will do a headcount first." hearing what she said, made the students looked at her differently. She seemed wasn't a terror as she looked, really unlike her surname.

The class room had 31 tables and chairs, signified that there were 31 students as well. After the headcount, Mrs.Villania dismissed the class and all of them rushed outside after their teacher left the room.

Since Vanz didn't have anything to do, he decided to return home and cultivate, further solidifying his cultivation.
