Chapter 1
The sky was lit as the birds silently sleeping on the tree near a certain window, were rudely distrubed by a loud shout of someone coming from the door.
"Ahh! Uahh!"
*chirp!*
The birds dispersed in hurry, scared by the cry, while inside the 3 story house were also children in different ages, from 1 yr old to 8, and the oldest was 12 years old.
"What's that!?" said the woman in her 20s, as she hurried out of the house. As she opened the door, she was greeted by a cry of a baby, neatly placed inside the basket.
"A baby?!"
She made a cursory glance at her surroundings, and sighed as she couldn't found anyone. She was still hoping to see the person that left the poor baby and asked them why they choose to abandon the baby.
"People nowadays, how could they bear to abandon such an angel!" the woman exclaimed.
She took the baby and found that the baby was a boy. He stopped crying when she carried him, which made her thought, he was looking for someone to carry him.
"Poor baby. I'll take care of you from now on." she said, cooing to the baby boy, which seemingly got tired from crying as he slept.
The woman took the baby inside with a smile on her face and close the door of the house. Unknown to her, someone was watching from afar as she carried the baby inside.
The unknown person left some words before finally leaving, as the person had already accomplished its mission.
"Hope you live a normal life, Young master..."
Inside the orphanage, the other children saw Sera carrying a basket and thought it was filled with foods.
"Ms.Sera! What's that? Cookies?" the 4 years old boy asked.
Sera chuckled and answered. "No, Jaydee. It's a baby!"
"A baby? I'm not gonna eat a baby!" Jaydee said adorably, which made Sera smile.
"If you want cookies, I'll bake some for you and for everybody." Sera said to the boy.
"Yehey! Cookies! Cookies!" Jaydee jumped up and down as he ran towards the other kids.
Then, a lady approached Sera. She looked down at the basket with sad expression and didn't know what to say.
"Another abandoned child? What's parents this days are thinking? That children are expendables? I don't really know how they think! I wish for their consciences to not let them sleep or live happily." the lady remarked angrily.
Sera sighed and put the basket on the table. The baby was still sleeping. When Sera took the baby out of the basket, a letter dropped on the floor and the lady beside her noticed and took it.
The lady raised the letter in front of her face and showed it to Sera. "Looks like they abandoned him for good." she said.
"What's that? A letter?" Sera asked.
"It drops when you take him out of the basket. Read it, so we can know why they did this."
After reading the letter, Sera took the basket and found a money under the blanket.
The lady saw it exclaimed in suprised. "Oh my god! It's Lumirian Dollars! The exchanged rate for this here is 150.63 Floran Dollars! And there seems to be million of it!"
Sera immediately covered the money and looked at the lady. "Don't talk to anyone about this! Promise me, Vienna! If this comes out, we're screwed!"
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
"I know! Don't worry, such thing is obvious to me. I promise to not to divulged it to anyone. But what we will do about the money now? We can use it to renovate the orphanage and let the children study!" Vienna said as she smiled. She looked at the baby boy whose name was written on the letter and continued. "Vanz is really an angel. Now that I thought about it. Vanz's life would might be in danger, which is why they give him to us... Poor child."
Sera sighed and carried Vanz on her arms. "We'll take care of him from now on. After all, he is entrusted to us by his parents. We'll use the money as you suggested." she said and hummed, while dancing with Vanz on her arms.
A year passed as the new baby arrived at the orphanage. All of them were happy to have a cute baby, yet couldn't bear to show it.
Sera, the head manager of the orphanage was the person whom took care of Vanz the most and it made her happy. They renovated and expanded orphanage and make a playground on the orphanage so children could play when they had time after school.
Vienna and Sera were amazed at Vanz's growth. He could speak fluently and walked normally when he was only a year old. He was also very intelligent and could understand things faster than any child his age. It showed that he was indeed special.
Sitting in lotus position inside his own room, Vanz was quietly cultivating. Pure Qi gathered around his body shining like a blazing sun in the horizon. The Pure Qi he gathered then coursed through his meridians, muscles, bones and internal organs making it more tougher and stronger.
"It has been a year since I arrived to this world, which is very interesting. I think, I must thank God for this... or not..." he said as he feel his body and concentrate more on his cultivation.
"3rd Stage of Body Refining Realm, only within a year and I'm only a year old as well. If anybody from my former world know this, they might kill themselves in envy. But, my former world is already gone, forever. Destroyed by the natural laws." he sighed as he remembered it.
"My former world isn't stable, which brought it to its destruction, while this world is very stable. My former world is planar world while this world is in a form of a sphere." Vanz gasped and continued. "Truly amazing. Maybe when I break through to Dao Palace Realm, I will be able to travel to the so called Outer Space." his eyes glinted with determination as he thought about it.
His stature wasn't for a one year older, but for a 3 years old boy already, which made Sera, Vienna and other kids to look at him differently.
Then, a voice rang behind the door. "Vanz, it's dinner time! Come down and eat! Or do you want me to go up there and take you down?!"
Vanz paled as he heard it. "No! No! I'll come down immediately!" he shouted back.
"Ugh... That woman is really scary..." he mumbled as he stood and strode out of his room.
As he entered the dining hall, the carefree laugh and happy atmosphere greeted him. He didn't know, but it made him smile as he looked at the scene. Walking towards his seat, Sera was silently watching him.
Everything changed when Vanz arrived at the orphanage, it was all because of him that they didn't had any worries for the future.
Many parents visited the orphanage when it was renovated and adopted many children. But of course, they didn't just gave the children to them, they must underwent a procedure and it was a long one.
In the end only the older children were left, most of them were already above 12 years old. As they already had complete understanding of things, they didn't questioned Sera on why no one wanted to adopt them as they knew it was due to their age.
Once they became adults, the orphanage wouldn't be able to shelter them and they must fend for themselves.
Most parents wanted to adopt children around 1 to 6, and of course many wanted to adopt Vanz, but he didn't wanted to. Some children wondered why, but only those whom already at the teenage know of his reason and they couldn't blame him for it.
"Children, attention." Sera said with a smile on her face. Her voice wasn't loud, but it brought silence to the hall.
"Since we're all already here, let us start the meal, but first, let's pray." Sera looked at Vanz and continued. "Vanz it's your turn today."
"But... "
"It's your turn to pray, Vanz."
"O-Okay... E-Everyone, let us pray... Let's bow our heads for a moment... Dear God, thank you for your blessings. The things that you gave us, we hope that you continue to protect us from harm and let us not bewitch by the devil. Thank you for this food and please take care of Ms.Sera and Ms. Vienna the most, we're wishing all of this in the name of your holy son, amen. Okay, let's eat!"
"Thanks for the meal!" they all said in unison.
Watching the scene before him, Vanz felt at peace. This was the first time he felt that way. Even when he became the most powerful individual in his former world he didn't felt anything like this. He laughed and talked with other kids, like a normal one.
He wished that this peace last forever, but he knew that not all things lasted that long and he knew that this would not end well as the life he should walked upon would bite him soon enough and dragged him back.
When he first arrived at this new world, he already had awareness in his surroundings. As a result, he knew where he came form, the people whom brought him to the orphanage, and of course his parents, more importantly, the way of life his parents walked upon. It wasn't all mystery to him.
After the dinner, the children walked to their rooms and the oldest ones were left to washed the dishes, with Sera and Vienna. While at that night, Vanz used the time alone to cultivate, his routine everyday.
Just like that, many more years passed and the peaceful days will soon be roughly closed. The storm was brewing and on the move to bring disaster in his doorstep.
At an uncertain place, inside the small room where nothing could be seen except for a fluorescent light and a chair on which a man was tightly bounded and blind folded with bruises and burned wounds all over his face.
Not just that, if one would only looked carefully, one would notice that he hadn't had any clothes. His body had cut wounds, there were even engraved words, his left hand was broken, feet had holes and rotting while worms squirmed on it and his genitalia was sliced into three.
One could say that he had been tortured thoroughly to sing. His eyes lost its light and nose was cut off. This person was the person that brought Vanz to the orphanage.
"Boss, what we will do about him now?" said the man that just entered with another two man.
"Right, Boss. We already know where that bastard's child is hiding. We can go now and put holes in his body." the other man said.
The man whom they called Boss looked at them and skillfully took his pistol and shoot them at the forehead. They didn't had time to react as it was too fast for them to follow as they died miserably.
The Boss saw the smoke coming from his pistol and blew it like a birthday candle. "I don't like being told what I should do." he said, then glanced back to the man on the chair. He walked closer and stopped in front of the man on the chair, enough to see his face within the light.
While groaning, the man on the chair was obscurely mumbling repeatedly the words 'forgive me' as though he had done something he would regret even in the afterlife.
The man sighed from hearing it and spoke. "One week. You've been here for one whole week enduring the tortures we've done. At the final time, you give in and sang." the man paused and waited for the man on the chair to speak.
Remembering that they cut off his tongue after hearing what he wanted to hear. The man called boss couldn't help but chuckle in his silliness. "I forgot you don't have a tongue. Well, you won't be able to use it anyway... You know what? If you have been become part of our Liege Family, with your loyalty, you might have become my right hand man." then the man sighed and continued. "Such a shame. You really can't choose your family. Well, as respect to your loyalty to the family you wanted to protect, I'll personally send you to the afterlife. Remember my name, I am Alfonzo Liege."
The man called boss lifted his hand, holding a pistol and pointed it towards the head of the man on the chair.
"Good luck..." the man said before pulling the trigger.
*Bang!*
And everything turned silent with nothing but sound of footsteps that faded along with the light.
Anyway, see ya.
