New Home.

Dawn spent the rest of his time reading the content of the books and meditating. He did not cultivate but planned his future actions. Dawn had finished reading the seven books when Saffron arrived at noon.

She spotted Dawn sitting on his bed in the lotus position, his eyes closed. She did not know why, but suddenly, she felt her best friend had changed. Dawn seemed to have sensed her gaze and opened his eyes.

He smiled faintly and asked, “What are you looking at, Saffie?”

Saffron woke from her daze and said, “I am looking at you. What are you trying to do by acting like a monk? I never knew you were so pretentious.”

Dawn was surprised, and then he chuckled at her remark. He asked, “When can I leave this monotonous place?”

Saffron said, “I have finished the formalities. We can leave after you finish changing your clothes.”

Dawn nodded, and with a swift motion, he got off the bed and rushed to the bathroom to change his clothes. Suddenly, Saffron heard him calling, “Ummm, Saffie, where are my clothes?”

Saffron sighed and walked over with a paper bag in her hand. She stood outside the bathroom door and said, “Here, Your Highness, I got you a fresh set of clothes on my way back.”

Dawn laughed sheepishly from the inside and opened the door to peek out. He found Saffron looking at him with a gaze brimming with sarcasm. Dawn extended his hand to take the paper bag as he said, “You are so thoughtful, Saffie. Thank you.”

Saffron scoffed and said, “Consider yourself lucky. Hurry up.”

Dawn vanished behind the door and put on a casual white t-shirt and blue jeans, with a blue hoodie over his torso to fend off the gentle chill in the weather. Saffron looked at him and nodded before she said, “Your shoes are here; wear them, and we are leaving.”

Dawn noticed all his stuff had been packed in a black duffle bag. He could not help but look at Saffron with gratitude. The girl sensed his gaze and said, “You do not have to look at me like that. This is what siblings should do for each other.”

Saffron and Dawn have only been friends for a year but rarely had any intersections before that. The latter nodded with a smile and followed the girl out. A black commercial car stopped before them when the duo stood outside the hospital. Saffron opened the door and got inside the vehicle.

Dawn walked over to the other side and sat in the back seat beside her. Saffron asked, “What do you intend to do now?”

Dawn looked at the fleeting scenery outside the place and said, “I wish to find out why Class Monitor Trevor plotted against me. What was the reason?”

Saffron looked at him faintly and said, “A few days ago, one of his lackeys in the class had been boasting about how Trevor goes to the Cuckoo Karaoke bar every weekend.”

Dawn asked, “What do his visits do with what he did?”

Saffron fished out a tablet from the seat pocket before her, and after operating it, she handed it to Dawn. The young man found a video file playing on the screen. In the content, he spotted a young man wearing a silk shirt walking along with a small group of delinquents.

Dawn spotted another person inside this group and said, “Trevor?”

Saffron thought about it and said, “Yup, he has been involved with a local gang leader, Onii.”

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Dawn thought briefly and then asked, “You mean to say that this guy, Onii, is behind the attack on me?”

Saffron slid her fingers across the screen, and the picture showed a young lady. Dawn was surprised, and the girl said, “Yes, she is the class beauty of class one, Grace Verse. Onii had called dibs on her. Onii had tried to pursue her. However, she knows better and shuts him off completely.

She has even called for the help of the police, but after a casual remark, Onii was allowed to walk away. He found that you and Grace Verse are slightly close during this time. He has a handle on Trevor. That is why the idol Class Monitor is doing his bidding like a dog.”

Dawn leaned back in the seat. He was surprised that Saffron discovered so many things in just one day. What surprised him even more was that his neighbor attracted the attention of a delinquent. He narrowed his gaze as he looked out the window and asked, “What is Trevor’s background?”

Saffron replied non-comically, “His father is a reputed landlord with fifteen shops in the city’s commercial center.”

Dawn thought about it and said, “Hmmm, I need a few days to think about what can be done about this issue.”

Saffron nodded and said, “You can still have a week off. The lightning strike destroyed the wiring inside the school for some odd reason.”

Dawn nodded and said, “Fine, can you drop me at my house.”

Saffron nodded and said, “You better take care. I will check on you frequently. Mom has been out of town but will also visit you in a few days.”

Dawn thought about it and nodded. He looked at her and said, “Yes.”

He did not disrespect her concern with the words of gratitude but decided to accept it in his heart. After all, in this new world, he was all alone.

Saffron left after dropping Dawn outside the apartment complex. The complex was small and had four buildings, blocks one, two, three, and four, respectively.

Dawn navigated his way to the seventh floor in block three. His house number was seven zero seven. A small electric lock pad was fixed on the door. He inputted a code, and the door opened with a click. All this was retrieved from the memories of his predecessor.

Dawn walked inside and closed the door behind him. A very odd sensation generated in his heart as he gazed at the place. He felt as if he was very familiar with this place, and even some memories began to surface in his mind, but the fact that he had never really been to this place in person made him frown.

He took a few deep breaths to calm his mind before he walked inside. The apartment had two bedrooms and one living room. There was a kitchen on the side and two bathrooms. The house was slightly bigger than five hundred square yards.

When he entered his room, he found a single bed beside the wall and a table with two cupboards. One was stacked with neatly folded clothes, while the other had many books.

Dawn had to work part-time to carry his household needs. His school was kind enough to waive his fees under the humanity clause. Education was a non-profit business in this country, and all the children had to attend the final grade of high school as a mandatory level of education.

Dawn rested for a few minutes before showering and changing into a sports t-shirt and shorts. Then he sat on the ground in the living room, his eyes closed, and meditated.

He sensed the flow of spirit energy and gradually entered the state of cultivation. Dawn used the spirit energy to push out even more of his body’s potential. However, he could not go all out, or the risk of getting hurt was higher.

When he opened his eyes, it was already evening, and he was famished. Dawn stood up from the floor and looked at the sticky sweat covering his body. He bathed and mumbled, “I wish to go and cultivate under a waterfall. Forget the advantage. At least, I would be free from these showers.”

The young man changed into clean clothes and checked the kitchen. He did not have much supplies at home. Suddenly, the doorbell rang; he came out and was about to buy supplies.

Surprised, he looked at the clock, which was already seven thirty. He thought about who it could be at this hour and opened the door. He spotted Saffron standing outside the door with a few things in her hands.

He stepped to the side to let the girl pass, but she shook her head and said, “I came to check on you, and here is the dinner. Your phone was fried, so take this also. I have saved my number on it already. Umm, you do not have to worry about your part-time job. I have talked to them, and they will let you continue when you have recovered.”

Dawn was so surprised that he did not say anything until Saffron asked, “Do you have enough money on you?”

The young man nodded, and Saffron said, “I am returning home. My dad is waiting for me for dinner.”

Dawn nodded and followed her downstairs to see her off. However, when he was returning, he met a person he was not ready to face: Grace Verse.
