{The status examination on the first day has 15 different variations depending on how you act throughout the day. The most common are against the Felanums, the Traduns, or the Golbnums. The Felanums are the most difficult for beginners, it is recommended beginners restart if you encounter them.}
In the game Azure Lotus the Felanums were dangerous but had a clear pattern for gamers to exploit. However, this was now reality. The tactics may not change initially but when they see their plans aren’t working they will change them.
The Felanums were intelligent creatures that knew they were weak. If they didn’t plan out every hunt they wouldn’t have food to eat or a place to call home. They were weak and couldn’t become strong so they became crafty instead.
However, compare to Dion they were much weaker. They had a ranking of B+, a rank that very few of his classmates could deal with easily however he was the ranked one student of the current year, he should reasonably be able to defeat this easily.
‘Is he underestimating me or testing me?’ Dion questioned himself lightly. These tests were supposed to test five total categories so logically it would be best to push the students as much as possible to receive their current peak.
Dimitri Alden either thought this was his current strength or was lessening the difficulty either duty to his status as a commoner or his relationship to the principal. Regardless, it wasn’t an appreciated gesture.
Pushing some of his mana into a thin bracelet on his left wrist a spear appeared in his hand. It was a fairly strong spear but ultimately it wasn’t as impressive as any of the weapons of his classmates.
Of course, that was something that the previous Dion had chosen. Lucille had extended an offer to buy or make him a better one but the previous Dion had refused and the current Dion had no reason to refuse.
‘It’s quite good.’ Dion thought to himself, his eyes trailing over the spear for a moment. While its outside was bland it was the perfect weapon for him as it had been almost perfectly aligned to his mana.
Placing his thoughts to the back of his mind for a moment he gently tapped the bottom of his spear on the ground, a torrent of wind erupting from the meager action. Dust flew throughout the air and a tornado momentarily formed around his figure yet despite the wind’s intensity the wheat was untouched.
Just as abruptly as the tornado formed it vanished, the sound of more than two dozen small bodies falling reverberating throughout the area. The metallic scent of blood surrounded the area and soaked the once pure wheat.
“May I request a harder challenge?” Dion questioned lightly, his voice surely reaching Dimitri even if by some miracle his creation had damaged the speakers of the room. While this was a test, this was ultimately something that could protect him in the future.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
If he was seen as an untouchable monster by his class, the amount of death paths open to him should be reduced substantially. Realistically, the only people that would try would be the foolish, other members of the top seven, or the staff.
“You little shit.” Dimitri’s gruff voice resounded through the area. His voice was full of amusement in interest as he looked at Dion through the various cameras in the area. When Lucille told him a monster had come he doubted it.
Lux had many talents that could be called monsters but never once had Lucille called one of their students such a name, in her mind they didn’t deserve it. Dimitri had doubted anyone alive could possibly reach her standards.
But he had been proven wrong. Dion’s attack was flashy but it wasn’t all that powerful. What made it impressive was his control over it and the mana used to create the attack. To use magic of a certain level of potency both mana and concentration were required.
However, his attack didn’t have either of those. His mana was fairly dense for his age however the mana used to create that attack was barely a drop of what he had and yet it still held that much power.
If he, the man famed as the God of War, were to use a similar level of mana in an attack he may as well be throwing a booger at his opponents. Hell, the mana ball he threw at the student that pissed off had more mana in it!
Dion didn’t just have raw power, he had the ability to take the little he had and run with it for as long as he possibly could. If they had similar levels of mana and fought purely with magic, then Dion would definitely win.
“You better not regret it you little shit.” Dimitri commanded, pressing a button that changed the appearance of the area. The once wide open plain turned into a large swamp that smelled of death and rot.
Once more a gentle breeze flowed through the area as Dion scanned the area. Swamps were dangerous places that were difficult to move in and had plenty of places for enemies to hide in whether it be the ground or the large trees.
‘One large sized enemy. Mana levels of A+.’ He noted calmly. His enemy was powerful, much more powerful than any of his classmates had faced. It was difficult to tell what exactly it was as it was underneath the swamp water which restricted the wind’s flow.
All Dion could tell about his opponent was that it was a scaled creature that was roughly six meters long. The issue was that it most likely wasn’t a monster like the Felanums but instead, a monster that had grown stronger due to awakening its mana. It could be anything.
‘Dimitri is pretty cruel.’ Dion thought to himself leisurely. He had asked for a challenge that was true however A+ was a ranking you didn’t usually throw at students. In all likelihood, this was a test he was meant to fail.
Though that was probably Dimitri Alden’s intention from the very beginning. If he failed the test the results would be him trying his absolute hardest to achieve victory and therefore the results would be much closer to his maximum than otherwise.
It was for this reason that so few of his classmates had actually defeated their enemies, the number of those who had were below ten. The top seven were all among that count, each one having a challenge that was relatively equal to their skill.
That meant that out of the entire class, he was the only one who received a challenge of the A+ rank. Of course, the A rank enemies the other six dealt with had the numerical advantage but it did not bridge the gap between the two ranks.
Tapping his spear on the ground once more an eruption of wind emerged from just over ten meters away from him, swamp water and all that it held flew into the air alongside a large creature that cast a multiple meter long shadow onto Dion’s figure.
The creature was over six meters long with thick scales that seemed almost impenetrable. Its figure was large in both length and width and its jaws were renowned for their ability to crush almost anything.
‘A crocodile.’ Dion thought to himself, clearly unimpressed by his enemy. Crocodiles were powerful creatures to be sure but he was confident in his ability to defeat it as long as it remained outside of the water.
Luckily he could remove it from the water easily enough.
