Redo: Calamity
A school shaped training facility.

A school shaped training facility.

they sprint to the nurses office.

“I thought he was 0-Type” He stammers as they round the corner,

“He is.”

“That is far from 0-type, he used telekinesis on me”

“You don’t understand. Noone can know, so as far as you know he is an 0-type...got it?”

Quintus was gonna retort about her telling him what to do before images of what just happened, made him keep his mouth shut. They arrive at the nurses bay, where they enter alarming the nurse,

“Code Calamity” Amy tells the nurse with a serious expression on her face. Why now Redo...are you remembering? Amy thought.

They lay Redo down on a bed, the nurse opens a vault that was way too technologically advanced to be in any highschool where she takes out a vial label “Redo mem. Wipe.” into a syringe, then injecting him immediately.

“Don’t you need consent?” Quintus asks, still shocked at the events unfolding before him.

“Honey, we would all be dead if we didn’t” She answers bluntly. This weakling capable of that? It was all too much for Quintus, the nurse pulls out the syringe, and her eyes glow and red veins flare on her hands as they hover over Redo, She's watching the reagent flow through his bloodstream Quintus realised, before Redos body starts emitting an almost steam.

“What's this?” The nurse asks.

“What's happening?” Amy asks.

“H-Hes burning away the memory wipe agent” The nurse stammers. “This can’t be. He would have to have the precision of an I-type of 80 and p-type of 90 to have that much accuracy.” Amy steps forward to the unconscious Redo, her arm lit up blue as she closes her eyes, a blue haze lit up in Redos temple. She winces in pain, grabbing at her face.

“T-there.” She stammers, collapsing and the nurse catches her. “I’ve reset his memory one day, I can do that as much as we need to.” doubting herself even while saying it. that was much more painful without the agency's help. Quintus stands in silence struggling to get a handle on the situation.

“So you’re telling me that the cripple has powers?!” exasperated he grits his teeth, “and what did you say? 80 I-type! 90 P-type! T-that's ridiculous!” Amy struggles back to her feet.

“Quintus, I swear to you I’ll explain later…Things are...rough.” She turns to the nurse.

“Speaking of which, have we had any communication with the outside?”.

“Yes we have, they are picking up strange energy eruptions in the cerberus nation, they assume that's where they put us.” The nurse replies.

“But the government is catching on to you dropping hints.”

“Yeah, but he is remembering!” Amy cried out.

“He could help us out, he could help us leave!” The nurse raises a finger to her lips.

“You’re being too loud, If I'm exposed it's all over.” Amy crosses her arms,

“Ok, but Redo-”

“No…” The nurse cuts her off. Quintus looks at the nurse confused,

“If Redo is ‘all powerful’ if his memories fix him, I mean I saw his power. I-I-I-Its not pleasant, if we can use that..”

“You misunderstand...I mean if you did see his power Quintus.” The nurse looks at him then to Redo concerned, “Then you should know, he can’t be reasoned with in that state...you all got lucky” The nurse pulls out a laptop reminiscent of Mrs Truders. Pulling up images from a file labeled, training facility 1. of what seemed to be a middle school familiar to Quintus, with children running around, the photo was taken of the front field.

“Is that my middle school?” he asks. The nurse nods,

“Redo was there too...and he was aware of his powers back then...but he was also aware that it wasn’t really a middle school.” Not a middle school? Quintus thought. The nurse switches to a file labeled training facility 1 Code calamity. Code calamity, it’s that name again? Quintus’s peers curiously. He sees a small figure resembling a middle schooler, Quintus assumes the photo is still the middle school. The figures had no features other than being a dark shadow with eyes glowing a deep purple. It was standing in the front field, Adults with weaponry red veins and glowing clearly trying to stop the figure.

“W-w-what is this?” he asks.

“That's Redo.” the nurse responds grimly. Changing photos once more, to what seems to be the aftermath. His eyes widened, the image distorted and damaged, but he noticed a few things. The figure isn’t black anymore, in its place a boy sat crying, no longer in a schoolyard. Surrounded by red and gray mist, a crater surrounded the boy.

“Where are they now?” Quintus asks.

“It’s still the middle school or training facility.” The nurse tells him.

“Redo incinerated everything and...everyone” the nurse pauses. “Into mist”.

Quitnus gulps realising Amy had probably saved him from a similar fate.

"What about the school trip tomorrow?" He asked.

"The people keeping us trapped here are confident in a lot of your abilities, so they're sending you out for some real test of powers." The nurse responded, "but with Redo like this, Quintus you will have to watch over him with Amy, make a group with him."

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

"No way! He's a psycho…"

"This isn't about you. I know you think you're strong but we are all in trouble if we stay here any longer, we have help on the outside of this facility, they'll come get us alright." Quintus was still trying to wrap his head around the whole situation.

"B-but my parents." Quintus tries to ask.

Amy grabs onto his jacket and rattles him.

"Do you not understand?!" She yells at him. "None of it is real, they're not your parents, not your teachers, even the townsfolk are fake!"

The gravity of the situation finally weighs down on him.

"OK...I'll try my best, but he's not gonna trust me"

"But he knows you as long as that's true you'll be fine, and once we escape you'll get your memories back too." The nurse reassures him.

My memories Quintus thought to himself, he was having a bad day and just wanted to let out his frustration but now he'll have to babysit his punching bag. What can I do he thinks. Amy let's go and sits back down,

"I'll stay here and watch him until he wakes up, he probably still thinks I'm his girlfriend…"

Amy sighs, relaxing a bit whilst the nurse nods to her and addresses Quintus "Now you go back to class, and make sure that when you make groups for the trip you tag along with Amy and Redo." Quintus nods, and whilst the nurse is leaving adds "Oh and also, if you tell anyone...I'll kill you" smiling, Amy smiles nodding in agreement. "Goes for me too you know. Quintus laughs nervously, swiftly walking out of the nurses office for his classroom. What have I gotten myself into he thought, shaking his head.

Redo sat up suddenly, looking around the room he noticed Amy sleeping in the corner, Why am I in the nurse's office...What time is it? He thought checking his watch, looking at it stunned, the entire screen was cracked and the time displaying was unreadable. Redo wonders why he was in the nurse's office, last he remembered he was in class dozing off. The nurse opens a curtain separating the beds.

“Rise and shine sleepy head!” she says cheerfully to Redo. “seems you took more of a hit in P.E than you could take!” P.E? Redo questioned in his head, P.E was his next period. “Oh dear you must have been hit so hard you don’t remember anything. That made sense to him, knowing how people like him were treated he thought it was reasonable. Redo often wouldn’t argue with how things went, it worked out better for him that way. However there was a new feeling he didn’t recognise, something making him feel like he should rebel. The nurse looks at his watch.

“Oh dear! Did they break your watch too! Animals I tell you” She says disapprovingly.

“I mean...Why do you care?” Redo responded coldly, staring at the nurse with a almost annoyed expression before blinking for a second. “I-I-I’m sorry, I didn’t actually mean that” He face palms,

“Don't worry dear.” she responded a little nervously. Did it not work? The nurse thought to herself. “Ill get you a new one, these things happen so I have spares!” Passing him a black box with what he assumed to be the new watch.

“Thanks” he said smiling a little, the nurse smiles back.

“Well Ill leave you two to it, shes been waiting here since the moment you arrived! Quite lucky aren't you!” She winks. Right he thought, Amy was his girlfriend, although he felt something wrong with that statement. He also thought it was strange he had to be reminded that. I didn’t think I was that kind of guy. Amy's eyes open and she raises her head rubbing her eyes.

“Hey.” She said smiling to him. “You feeling much better?”

“Yeah, I guess although I don’t remember how I got knocked out.” He responded.

“Yeah, that run in with Quintus was unfortunate.”

“Did I go against Quintus in P.E?” Redo asked confused,

“Oh yeah! Yeah. it was the I-types vs the 0-types you all got dropped” she laughed afterwards.

Redo knew something was strange,

“Did something happen to me?” Redo asks a little aggressive, he didn’t know why he was so bothered, he didn’t usually care about these things as long as he got through the day, but this was especially bothersome.

“I just don’t know that much myself you know. I mean we have different P.E classes so I’m just going off of what others said.” Amy responde

“Yeah, its alright.” Redo responded, sighing “I don’t know what really bothered me anyway.”

Amy settle down a little bit,

“Hey its lunch time now if you wanna go find a spot!” She was smiling again.

“Yeah that sounds great,” Redo responded standing up and he feels really energized. Must have been my long sleep “you’re spry aren’t you?” Amy asks, her eyes widen a little bit. Redo did feel really good, strong even. They opened a curtain separating them from the rest of the office. The nurse was waiting at the front as if she was expecting them handing Redo a bottle of pills,

“Make sure if there are any funny feelings try to take these with some water. They might not work but you never know.”

“Thanks” Redo responds, pocketing the pills. She nods at Amy as they leave. Stepping into the hallway, the bell rings for lunch time. Redo wanted to go to his usual spot in the philosophy classroom, but something was putting him off a little so he ended up walking into the cafeteria in the courtyard, Amy following from behind.

“Hey where are we going?” She asked.

“I don’t really know.” Redo responds, “you’re right we probably shouldn’t be he-”

“There you are!” A loud voice bellowed. Davon grabs onto Redo's shoulder from behind.

Redo's eyes widen, jumping forward and shoving the hand away. “No need to fear me!’ he bellowed at the confused Redo, “I swore to protect you!”

“You did what?” Redo asks, still in shock.

“Earlier in the day, where I saved you from yourself in P.E earlier today!” He responds gruffly,

“I haven’t done P.E today?”

“You can’t fool me!” Davon responds laughing proudly,

“I’m NOT” Redo responds harshly, “You must think highly of yourself don’t you?” he steps forward almost challenging Davon, Amy noticing this steps forward and grabbing Redos hand. Redo pauses briefly. There's a moment of silence, Davon doesn’t move, staring intently at Redo who looks away. “I-Im sorry” Redo splutters stepping back again Amy jumping in front. Davon watches silently, then smiles widely.

“I like a cripple who can stand his ground!” He yells humorously, “but..If your sister wants to take my role as your protector!” He leans closer to Amy peering at her up and down, measuring if he could take her. “You’re probably some I-type, but you don’t have an ego, what's your name?”

Amy positions herself into a stance to fight, Redo backs away.

“It’s Amy, and if you think I’d let you near Redo, you’ll have to prove yourself as the highest P-type” Amy’s checks her watch 110 bpm I won’t activate my abilities until I need too.

Davon laughs again.

“Well Amy, I see you’re dedicated to protecting him but we will have to settle this.” He turns and waves them to follow him. “Let's settle this in the gym”
