Redo: Calamity
A safe place.

A safe place.

"Right, sorry, I'll head back now."

"Good luck now."

Redo hadn't realised that he was just standing there staring, "I must have looked like a creep" Redo worried, face paling whilst walking back to the gym, walking onto an intense game of dodge ball between the P-types, and I-types.

P-types: power levels I-types:

Davon: 64 Quintus: 85

David: 32 Viridia: 32

Toressa: 42 Arria: 29

Samuel: 32 Hosidia: 28

Olivia: 22 Amatia: 28

“Eat this you brainless muscle heads!” Quintus throws the dodge ball, amplifying it’s force and speed dramatically with teleportation. Redo watched the ball, it almost seemed like in slow motion, as it glowed the same light as Quintus’s eyes, propelled at inhuman speeds, straight at david. However in what to normal people might seem like an instant, Davon leaped for the ball attempting to grab on, but Quintus smirks, “gotcha” he thought. Changing the direction of the ball suddenly, but Davon at that moment switches his body's momentum, electrical red veins shoot over his body as it adjusts proportionally to the ball's turn, gripping on with overpowering strength that breaks Quintus’s control over the ball. “Do you think your words mean anything in the face of overwhelming strength?” Davon gloating whilst spinning the ball on his finger.

“I pity you, so consumed by being the smartest guy in the room.”

“Shut-up Insolent fool.” Quincy snared back at him.

“You will always be arrogant.” Davon Pelts the ball at Quintus, the force causing wind to rush around the room. Quintus tries to slow down it’s velocity and try to catch it, but it rushes too fast, redirecting its force instead past to his teammate Amatia, who can’t react as fast getting taken out.

“You’re USELESS!” Quintus yells at her as she walks off shocked at how she lost.

“So this is Davon, the strongest P-type is our school”. Redo thought he had never really paid attention to when they would fight, as he was typically sent to the nurses office after the first round. Mr Chen blows his whistle, “Any damage done to the school grounds will be billed to your parents, so do NOT go overboard!”

“Oh crap. If I get noticed I might have to play again…” Redo thought, slipping out of sight away from the entrance of the gym. Redo goes to continue watching the match, but feels a gaze from the end of the hallway, looking off he sees Amy in the astral realm watching him silently. He looks directly into her eyes, startling her, before exiting her power, her skin losing its fiery blue, back to light olive, Amy had gone through many phases or “Developments” as she had put it, on fashion before finally settling on an oversized T-shirt and gem accessories made from rocks that react to spiritual power, glowing. The entire get-up violated at least eight dress codes, including the green streaks in her hair. She waved Redo over to her at the end of the hallway.

Redo met Amy at the end of the hall “what are you doing out of class?” she asked curiously, eyeing him up and down,“P.E?” Amy asks

“Yeah and I was late due to a run-in with Mr Im so smart” Redo replied annoyed.

Man I should put that power obsessed jerk in his place one of these days.”Sighing whilst leaning onto the wall. Redo relaxes a little bit, looking down the hallway where his morning class was, a crack in the cement floor visible from where he was knocked down, he could still remember the sensation on his chest, he shivers a little.

“Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about something" she starts, Redo tilting his head a little prompting her to continue.

“Why is it that you can see me?” She asks a little hesitantly.

“What do you mean see you?” Redo asks in response.

“I mean how can you see me whilst I’m in the astral world?” Redo thought for a second as he didn't really have an answer.

“I assume you must have just gotten a lot stronger.” Redo points out. “I mean I am an 0-type, A triple one at that…”

“Yeah..you’re right, '' she said quietly, almost disappointed by his reaction

“Hey Redo...Are you feeling alright?”

“Yeah, why?” Redo raises his hand to scratch his head, but his hand is shaking, he breathes in sharply in shock, his body shaking. Redo winces as images from his daydream earlier in E-class flash in before him again, the woman he was crying into, he recognises as his mother, but she looks different “Redo...” Amy starts talking, snapping him out of it.

“Don’t worry about me, I must have taken more of a hit in P.E than I thought..” Redo responds, trembling a little, still grimacing from the flashback. "Well hey let me walk you-"

"No I'm ok it's right down the hall" Redo cuts her off. He didn’t want her to see him like this, “she always has to protect me.” He starts going down the hall. Amy looks at him concerned as he walks away, into the nurses office. Where he stands for a couple seconds before peeking around to see her gone.

Chapter 2:

Redo doesn't stay in the nurse's office, after noticing Amy had left he had snuck down and around the corner into one of the only places in the whole school that offered him sanctuary. The classroom of philosophy that the teacher Mrs Truder who Redo was quite fond of taught in "what's up Redo?" she asks.

The Mrs Truder:

Power level:113

P-type: 20

I-type: 26

S-type: 67

Mrs Truder looked more like a butler or secret agent than a teacher, wearing a tailcoat, but adjourning the same grey colour scheme as Redo, complimenting the fact she had started teaching at the school the day Redo had joined. Upon meeting her she offered up a safe place in her classroom, which Redo found questionable as she didn't allow other 0-types to take haven in her class but he wouldn't complain. Redo was used to the hierarchy at this point. Mrs Truder noticed his intrusion peers at Redo quizzically from her desk at the front of the table “What brings you here Redo?” She asks, Redo choosing to ignore her finds a beanbag isolated in a corner of the room, sits down closing his eyes. Curious about his reluctance to speak she prodds further "You know if there's something bothering you, I'm one of the only people who might listen." Redo knew this to be true, but needed to collect his thoughts for a minute, looking around the room noticing it was still moderately empty with just a few desks, and a whiteboard, with a projector coming off the ceiling all the classrooms have.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"I always wondered why you let me stay here." Redo asked absentmindedly.

"We arrived at school on the same day, thought I'd look out for the 0-type, besides you fascinate me." Mrs Truder notes,

"0-Types are welcomed as nothing in this world, but in philosophy, that couldn't be less accurate." She points out a window looking into the school courtyard where there is a large digital leaderboard. The leaderboard registered the schools most powerful students rated in 4 columns, the first being total power, the 2nd being for P-types, the 3rd for I-types and the 4th for S-types. Mrs Truder continues

"The human mind is manipulated and controlled by power and therefore becomes biased. That's why high power I-types despite their intelligence still tend to be arrogant, due to this in a world based around becoming the strongest who can give the most objective opinion?" She asks

“I don’t know, probably the ones at the top,” Redo thought.

"you would probably think of the ones in power, and you would be right."

"but in philosophy it's the 0-types who grasp reality for what it is. That…that is why you interest me. The world's one and only triple 0 type"

Redo hadn't really thought about his power gauge in that light before. In this world the power system begins when you are born you are gauged on a power system between 0-100 in 3 categories P-type, I-Type and S-type these power amplifiers are due to an evolutionary advancement replacing adrenaline causing heart rate to directly influence these aspects. Redo wasn't born a normal 0-type, typically a 0-type is born without the new gene that causes type powers and still have adrenaline and therefore score 0 on everything other than I-type due to humans naturally being intelligent, but Redo was born with the scores N/A

Redo James ____?

Power level: N/A

P-type: N/A

I-type: N/A

S-type: N/A

All Redo knew was that the government decided that if he had no latent powers that he would be the world's first triple 0-type, Redo didn’t really remember anything but the fact his scores were zero made him certain he didn’t have any powers. It wasn’t the level of unique Redo wish he was born with but, everyone has to be known for something. Redo didn’t often think of his past, everytime he did he would feel mildly uneasy so he decided it was probably just how teenagers approach their past. Redo doubted it in his head, but it was the only way it made sense to him, “So how are your poems coming along? You know the test is coming up.”

“What’s the point, I know I’ll pass, this is the only class I actually care about.” Redo responds “But you know that you’re mum is worried so don’t let her down,

“Yeah, yeah. I’ll get to it,” Redo, a little annoyed he didn’t get his space he was expecting. “Speaking of tests,” putting a metal box on her desk.

“I need you to test out this older generation lying test for me, I need a willing participant and it would benefit the science department greatly."

Redo had literally no idea how it relates to science but Mrs Truder often brought in tons of collectible items and used him as a guinea pig which in turn made him question her career choice.

He sits down at her desk noticing her opening the metal box to show a black screen, it was a laptop, but one he had never seen anywhere else before. He assumed it was the lie detector, until she pulled out a larger metal box with a heart monitor connected to some form of pulse monitor which she clipped onto his finger. "OK so I'll play some relaxing music and we will get started." Redo looks around briefly, as the teacher types something on her keyboard, and classical jazz starts playing, “Didn’t know this was relaxing.” Mrs Truder starts tapping away on her laptop,

“Ok…”, she begins.

“What's your name?”,

“Redo James...uh” Redo replies, “What is my last name….?”

“What middle school did you go to?” Redo can’t think of a reply, but his head starts aching again, “My...my...middle school.” Redo is thrown back into the crater of red dust, looking down he's in his body when he was a kid, “why do I keep seeing this?” Redo realised he was crying again, but no woman to cry into this tim, until he sees her stumble down to him from the the top,

“Mum, please help me!” Redo said involuntarily, she comes closer,

“What did you do?” She asked,

“I didn’t do this Redo thought? How could I have?” The woman came right up to Redo, her face was covered in dust, she was looking at him with disappointment. Grabbing Redos hand then…

I can hear my heart beat...pulse...pulse…"Redo, what do you know about your past" I knew that voice. I just didn't know who or where it was. "Redo do you remember Julia Flores Panic '' that...that's my mother's name I remember now...pulse...pulse.pulse.pulse-pulse "Redo, calm down, you're causing a ruckus on our side, tell me. Where is your mother!?" Mum, I don't want to remember her. She's staring at me so calmly. I just wanted to see her, tell her it wasn't her fault she was in there. She attacked me. It was my fault, it was my fault.

"Damn it Redo. We only just managed to contain your power, we are going to have to bring you back" Where am I? Who are you? Let my mother go. "Breathe Redo, count to three with me.” counting, I can do that. “one" one. "Two" two "three" thr-

Truder let go of Redo's hand, blinking for a second he took a double take of his surroundings “what happened" he thought to himself. "Are you okay?" Mrs Truder asked, Redo looked up at her to see her face looking concerned, he laughed "haha, yeah must be a bit sick." We were just listening to music, but everything after that is blank. Redo thought, Mrs Truder smiles.

"I think you'll be fine boy", The bell rings and Redo stands up a little wavy, he adjusts himself, he looks at Mrs Truder who's still beaming a smile. He smiles back awkwardly and grabs his bag to go to class, “What a short lunch” Redo thinks to himself. He waves goodbye to Mrs Truder and leaves the classroom checking his watch, noticing the screen cracked "Damn, how’d I break this one?" he thought. He continues down the hallway back to class E, but for some reason students seem weren’t heading to class. He arrives at class but all the students are leaving, confused. He checked the time and it was 3pm at the end of day. Confused he checks his heart rate log,

* 1:20 pm 90 bpm

* 1:30 pm 178 bpm

* 1:40 pm 78 bpm

* 1:50 pm N/A

* 2:00 pm N/A

* 2:10 pm N/A

* 2:20 pm N/A

* 91948891384817819 pm

Frustrated that his watch seems to be broken he takes it off, but he was a little grateful Mrs Truder must have kept Redo company while he slept. Guess the music was really relaxing. He thought exiting the building, conveniently placed next to Class E, Redo had an off feeling, it wasn’t a feeling he recognised before, and it was getting him anxious. Scanning the horizon, nothing was different. The school was placed on top of a small hill surrounded by the small town of Richmind, which in turn was isolated from the world by four large mountains that surrounded it. A small path leads down the hill to a marble arch, the pathway packed with students.
